Okay, so it's rare that I have moment to write a review, but these guys were a godsend! After the warranty went out on my V70 I've been looking for a shop and couldn't be more happy with Robert and his crew. We took a road trip, in our well loved wagon, and got stranded. The belt broke and pulley destroyed, of course in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. We found the only shop that was open and waited 2 days and $700 later. After we hit the road, we made it to Lubbock and could tell something was not right with the repair. Managed to make it back to Austin, at 2am, with the belt torn again and making a lot of noise. When I called Robert in the morning he got us in right away and fixed everything that the other shop had broken. He explained the importance of quality parts and how this could happen. I enjoy working with companies that instead of bad mouthing other businesses, they let their quality work speak for itself. The peace of mind that Robert provides is what we needed after a stressful trip. This repair was very reasonable and done right. Definitely recommend Capital V! Thanks Again. read more

The employees are friendly, and I took my 2002 wagon here for about 8 months until something happened that made me think twice about trusting them. One of the mechanics told me that I should get my timing belt replaced 9,000 miles early because it is "cracked." Because of the huge expense of having that work done, and because I am not made of money, I had two other reputable mechanics look at the belt, and guess what! They both said that it was totally fine. I wonder whether Capital V have given me similarly dishonest information when I have dropped serious cash there in the past, and now I no longer feel comfortable taking my car there. read more

These guys didn't have me on the schedule, but still got my car in for work and back to 100% in time for me to drive home the same day. They did good work and didn't overcharge. They also inspected for common issues and educated me about the car. Don't get taken at the dealership...Robert is a nice, honest guy and I won't hesitate to go back! read more

Robert and Wally are the best mechanics I've ever worked with. Robert also owns a 2004 S40 like mine so he knows all the ins and outs of that make/model, FYI. I had a major issue a couple years ago that the dealership couldn't diagnose and I called Robert practically crying. After describing the issue he knew exactly what the problem was, so I told the dealership what to do. Sufficed to say, I've never gone anywhere else! You do have to call and ask them for updates but they won't do any work without consulting the owner first (that's not always the case). They're also willing to help with other issues, Robert called around to help me find a place open late that would do my annual inspection; they recommended a shop that would replace the ceiling fabric that's falling down, etc etc. (Robert is usually good for a few laughs as he agrees that some of the Volvo parts are way overpriced. The guy gets it!) Hands down, only 5 star recommendation I've ever given a mechanic. read more

I took my wife's xc70 here for new front brake pads. Robert took care of it right away and dropped me off at my office and picked me up when the work was done. I have a family member in the parts industry so I gets belts for free. Robert replaced the serpentine belt I supplied at no charge and also replaced a rear lamp bulb at no additional charge and without me even asking for it to be done. All in all I am pleased with the work done and the experience. I saved 25-30% on the brake job of what I was quoted at Roger Sleazy and he used Volvo genuine parts, not to mention the gratis stuff he did. I talked with Robert awhile and I would say that he's what Terry Sayther is to BMW's in South Austin, but for Volvo. I will go back. read more

I don't know what my family would do without this place, they have been so helpful and honest over the years taking care of our volvos. The Volvo dealership--Roger Beasley--is both really expensive and dishonest. Robert can always diagnose a problem and it give us a reasonable price. Once he had to keep our 2000 V70 longer than he originally thought and he paid out of pocket for our rental car! The other Volvo mechanics I've taken my '91 240 to have been flaky, dishonest or way too expensive. The last one (flaky) advised me to junk it. Needing a second opinion, I took it to Cap V where Robert assured me that the other guy was out of his mind. Turns out, the onboard computer was spitting out bad info. They fixed that for a very reasonable charge. I had also asked if they would look at the A/C. Another mechanic (dishonest) had quoted me over $1000. Cap V fixed the compressor itself and didn't charge me a dime. Then my brakes went bad. Midas told me the brakes were fine, yet my car continued to not always stop when I wanted. Back to Cap V. The ABS unit was bad. The OEM part was a couple of grand, but they found one for $500. Also fixed the gas gauge free of charge. Some of these fixes to an older car take some time to diagnose and find the parts, but I wouldn't take it anywhere else. It's running now like it just rolled off the lot. read more

Called on Wednesday to price 90,000 service and was quoted a price around $180.00 which was considerably less than dealer. So talked to my daughter and agrees we should go there based on quote and great reviews. The actual cost of the service which included parts and labor was over $300.00 which all things considered was better than dealer and average for the 90,000 mile check up. Also the found a broken mount and were able to repair and get me out of the shop before noon. Despite the price difference I thought the service was good and I would use them again. They didn't try to up-sell me anything which was a big plus in my mind. In my opinion they are good mechanics and want to gets the cars repaired and back on the road. I rated them 4 stars because of the price discrepancy but would definitely go back. read more

Robert, Chris and the rest of the Capital V Connection staff are head and shoulders above the rest. I had so many frustrating experiences with the dealer, I was counting the days until my warranty expired so that I could find my own trusted Volvo mechanic. I didn't have to look any farther than Yelp. When I first looked online, Capital V Connection had just a handful of glowing reviews. That number has since tripled and I can understand why. In a nutshell, they provide friendly, honest, reasonable service for Volvo's. Let me note a few of the things that stand out in my mind as to why they are just so exceptional. Twice, they did not charge me a dime and sent me back to a dealer when they identified that the problem is covered by some obscure extended warranty. Again, they didn't charge me a dime for the diagnostics or the calls they made to the dealer to confirm the warranty. Once, they suggested that I put off an expensive repair because, although it needed to be done at some point in the next year, it could wait for a while. I come from South Florida originally, home of far too many scam artists and shady auto mechanics. These folks are doing so much to restore my trust in auto mechanics...and humanity! Excellent service from Robert and Chris. Extremely experienced group of guys over here and most importantly, they're honest. Told me which repairs were needed immediately and which were not urgent. Seriously...how does a mechanic shop get this many 5 star reviews...? Because, as everyone has lamented before me, these guys are top notch!! Customer service is A++, which is a rarity pretty much anywhere these days (especially with a mechanic shop which are notorious for frightful experiences). I needed a headlight lens replaced, wherein the "stealership" would only quote the whole headlight assembly for $700+, but CapV repaired only what was actually broken (the lens) for less than 1/2 that (they had to remove the bumper to replace) !!! They also fixed a broken axle and now my 2002 X70 T5 drives like a dream. I love, love, love my Volvo station wagon, and I'm glad to know I still have lots of years left with her thanks to knowing these guys are on my side with keeping her well. Having faith in this kind of mechanic makes me strongly consider buying another Volvo when it's time to replace my other car!!! This is my 2nd visit here, and my 1st visit deserved the same glowing review, so there's no way I could not stop and give these guys the praise they are owed...Great Job Guys, keep up the awesome work, Y'all Rock!!! read more
