Wouldn't give me an estimate or see if they could order a new hose for my vacuum until I paid $53 non-refundable fee for an inspection. After almost 2 months they quoted me over $200 for repairs on a machine that didn't even cost that much initially. Needless to say, I didn't have the repair done. I bought a new hose online for $16 and it took me 5-minutes to repair my vacuum!! What a waste of time and money!! They are not interested in performing reasonable repairs, they only want to sell you expensive new vacuums!! read more

Not a great experience - I dropped my Shark Apex off last week at the Cary location for repairs, the roller brush head was not working. After paying $53 for the assessment , 6 days went by with no updates, I texted the shop. I received a response apologizing that they had been busy, and that someone would call me the next day. I received the call, and the customer service person told me the vacuum head was irreparable, and that they could sell me me a replacement head with new filters for $350. I told her that this was too much, and that I would pick it up later that day. When I picked it up, I had to wait 10 minutes in the front of the store while the employee hunted for my machine in the back. I asked her what had failed in the head, and She told me that the head was "shot" , and asked if I was interested in buying a new machine. I told her no and left. After getting home, I examined the roller head, and the access screw covers on both sides had not been touched. No one opened the head to evaluate it! I researched a replacement head online, and found a fully refurbished unit for $110, I ordered the new head, a filter kit for $16, and now have a fully functioning Shark Apex Duoclean for $125. Don't take your vacuum here for repairs, they are not interested or are too busy to provide decent service. However, They would be happy to sell you a new high end vacuum ! read more

Steer Clear of Rotten Customer Service On July 7, 2020, I drove across town in rush hour to drop off my vacuum at Capital Vacuum and paid the $53 deposit for diagnosis. On July 14, I had not received a call, so I took the initiative and called them to learn they had not done the diagnostic. On July 21, still no call from Capital Vacuum so I called once again and they told me they had not looked at my vacuum. On July 27, true to form, still no call. I drove across town again in midday traffic to get a refund and pick up my broken vacuum. CV told me that they had called a few days earlier but perhaps had dialed the wrong number. read more

I was in need of a new vaccum switch & the folks at Capital Vaccum were able to supply it. They were courteous, organized having the switch waiting for pick up, and went above and beyond to insure proper installation. I had to swap the switch for another new one, after providing them the wrong info, and they were glad to do so. I am pleased with the transactions. I didnt buy a vaccum there but from the quick look around the show room, there is quite the variety of vaccums for any and every use, from companies I've yet to be acquainted with too, and air purifiers as well. We have purchased all of our vacuums, vacuum accessories, and had all of our vacuum repairs done at Capital Vaccuum over the past 20 years. Recently our Riccar Prima stopped working. The warranty had just run out a few months prior so Riccar didn't offer any repair or replacement of parts under warranty. Since we have been loyal customers for twenty years Capital Vacuum showed their loyalty to us by cutting the repairs and replacement costs substantially. I was seeking a cordless vacuum cleaner for our hardwood floors, which need attention on a regular basis because of our 3 cats. Mark, a salesperson at Capital Vacuum, suggested the JohnnyVac 2-speed cordless and bagless stick vacuum cleaner. It has improved our lives considerably. I hate to admit that I now enjoy vacuuming -- powerful and long-lasting, and it goes under all the furniture. The best part is the LED light bar at the front of the machine that lets you see EVERYTHING! I am grateful to Mark for his suggestion. Buying from Capital Vacuum ensured I got a product that will work for us. So much better than picking something with questionable reviews on the Internet. read more

Needed a belt for the old vac and saw the decent reviews on Yelp. I received better service than I expected. Very helpful and even showed me additional items I needed without asking. I like it when someone else does the thinking for me sometimes. I will be back for future service. FYI, this is an independent retailer so don't expect cheap, mass merch brands. They deal in higher end units and actually carry a sister brand that I did the marketing for 10 years for that brand. They will have replacement parts for your vac from Best Buy or whatever but don't expect them to carry those brands as a general rule. Some helpful info from me to you. read more

In the next 10 days after the purchased otherwise they will not give your money back and they will not give u a replacement so you end up getting stuck with what you got So don't forget this Is not Home Depot or sears when it comes to replace an item the did not work like you expected read more

I have used Capital Vacuum 3 times for vacuum repair. To start, their prices are not cheap. To repair my vacuum belt, they charge anywhere from $50 to $75 just for the part. What they don't seem to understand is if the vacuum itself cost that price, why would I repair it for that amount? If I could find another general vacuum repair shop, I would not use this establishment. read more

I was in a "Buy local" mood and went in for a vacuum for picking up pet hair. The clerk suggested a Fuller upright. They charged me $200.+ for it. I looked it up online and I could get the same model for $75. less. I told the clerk that and she said 'they won't stand by the warranty or fix it because they are not authorized" So I ended up buying 2, one for home and one for the office. The foot switch broke on one, so I bring it in. Warranty covers it, good news. 3 weeks later I stop in to check if it's fixed. It was still in the back of the store. Another 3 week wait. Since then one of them started smoking and burned up and the other we hardly use. I would rather use our shop Vac. Bought a Panasonic (Riccar) online for less than half from Capital. We visited Capital Vacuum's location in Raleigh when we were looking for a vacuum cleaner for the upstairs of our home, most of which is carpeted. We also wanted something to vacuum stairs. I have a Sebo Felix, which i LOVE...but apparently, they don't sell that. Yes, I should have just ordered one online...but I didn't. These folks are very friendly and helpful, but they are focused on selling you a new machine. We looked at the Meile and Riccar machines and ended up with the Riccar. BIG mistake! The vacuum has decent suction, but is super loud. Also, it's logistically annoying - the way it's designed prevents the front from being able to vacuum underneath kitchen/bath cabinets and most furniture! Really poor design. We received a 'hand held' vacuum free with our purchase of the Riccar, but trust me, it was no bargain! Very cheap, rigid cord makes it incredibly irritating to use. Cheap and non-user friendly attachments are cumbersome to switch around...and I just wanted something to vacuum the darn stairs! On the plus side, they were happy to order us vacuum bags for our Sebo, which was helpful...but I could have ordered those online and received them quicker. Very disappointed with our purchase. If you're looking for a vacuum, approach this store with caution. They're nice folks, but do your research on the vacuums before purchasing - we didn't on the Riccar, unfortunately, and are stuck with a $600 machine we HATE. If you're thinking we're crazy for spending that much, we'd already been through at least 2 cheaper $150-185 vacuums that didn't last more than a year or so...I've had my Sebo Felix ($650-700) now for 6+ years and it's AWESOME! So, we were looking to buy something that lasted - not a machine we'd have to replace in a year. This just wasn't the place to do that. Buyer beware. read more

After having my 8-year old Dyson tipped over and breaking the canister handle, rendering it useless, I looked online for replacements. Dyson only offers the entire assembly through their parts department at a cost of over $100 plus shipping. I called Capital Vacuum and after speaking with Matt, one of the associates, he informed me that they had the part I needed and would be more than happy to sell it to me. $15 later my $600 vacuum is as good as new and I couldn't be happier. While in the store I spoke with the owner and one of the associates. These guys have been around the world of vacuum cleaners way longer than anyone should and definitely know their stuff. They were very helpful and I would absolutely recommend them to a friend. read more

I am very disappointed in the service I received at Capital Vacuum. For starters, I had three vacuums. They watched me struggle to bring them in. Not one of them offered to help me. They are not friendly. When I returned today to pick up my vacuums, the vacuums were dirty, the canister had not been emptied. When I asked the gentleman why they were not emptied, he shrugged his shoulders and said usually they are. I told him I did not feel like it was good customer service. He did not respond. He them watched me struggle to get the vacuums out of the door. I do not recommend this company to anyone. They are very expensive and not friendly. read more

I gave Capital Vacuum a part for my Gruene steamer that I was certain I would never get back, but after a couple of months it finally arrived. My entire opinion of Capital Vacuum and Gruene has altered for the better. I am happy to be able to report that the people at Gruene actually stand behind their products. It also makes me happy that Capital Vacuum honors warranties. My floors are going to sparkle. The only thing about the Gruene cleaner is that you really cannot drop it. The steamer part breaks easily, and most of us know how it goes when you are cleaning -- it's heavy work, and things tend to happen. In any case, thank you, Capital and Gruene! read more

I have contacted Miele with my complaint and suggested they check these reviews in addition to having someone phone (good luck reaching a person and since only Howard can fix the answer machine, you will not be able to leave a message). I cannot believe CV is a distributor and repairer for Miele products. Below are my comments to Miele: I would like you to visit Yelp comments on Capital Vacuum in Raleigh, NC. It has been 2 months since I dropped off my Miele canister (I purchased this from Banks Vacuum in Troy, MI (my second at $1499; the first went off to college with my daughter). I was told it would take 3 weeks to determine what was wrong. In the meantime I was to provide a Proof of Purchase which I did. It turns out my motor went bad. I have had zero customer service from this business and I seriously hope you will consider finding another distributor. No information update on findings, 5 telephone calls before actually getting a person live. Was told my motor was bad and it would be fixed shortly. I never had luck reaching a person live again regardless of time of day. Twice I have had to drive to the store to get information about my vacuum. They have an answer machine that does nothing but provide store hours (only "howard" can fix it). Today boxes filled the store and I saw a box with your name on it. I don't even know if motors were in there. Apparently "Tom" who runs the Cary, NC store only fixes Miele motors on Monday. I hope that you will send a rep to see in person what a terrible business this is. Because your vacuums are wonderful, I would think you would be more selective on where they are sold and serviced. read more

Very negative experience from the first. They don't care about anything but making money. They won't do repairs on certain models and then try to sell you their most expensive product. A week later the product I bought was on sale, but I was stuck with it and got no rebate. It is cheaper and easier to pick up a used vacuum at a thrift store and toss if once it dies. Dishonest! Matt at Capital stated our Bissell required new roller, belt, and filter for $165, and tried to sell us a new vacuum from their inventory. Examined Bissell myself and all it needed was a $1.50 belt, nothing else! Ordered $1.50 belt online and my eleven year old son installed it and Bissell works like new. A service fee and slight parts markup is expected, but what Capital Vacuum has done is dishonest. They need to create an honest policy or clients will go elsewhere. DO NOT USE THIS STORE. "Capital Vacuum-Raleigh" IS A DISREPUTABLE PLACE! I left my Dyson vacuum for an "estimate" on 7/21/17 & was told there would be a 1 week turn around & they would call w/ an estimate 1st. (The vacuum worked. The problem was that the suction was not diverting properly b/t the floor & the hose). That's it. Years ago, the step thing that makes it stand up was broken off- (physically) but in NO WAY affected the suction. IN NO WAY. I told the shop person, Eric, this in DETAIL. They charged me a $42.89 diagnostic fee that would be put toward the repair cost. On 8/1/17 I STILL had not heard from them so I called. They had not even looked at my machine. There were apologies made saying they have only "1 technician"... too busy... blah blah blah... I was then told they would look at it right away & get back to me that day. (I will add, that while they say they were SuPeR busy, when I dropped off my vacuum there was not ONE other person in the store... nor ONE other car in their parking lot). On 8/3/17, after NOT hearing from them, I called them again. The shop person, Eric, told me that a spring & "electronic switch" for the standing up mechanism had worn out. ((Not true, it was physically 'broken' when the machine was still newish-not worn out)). Then he barely mentioned the suction diverter (which was the problem) & went straight into the labor costs of OVER $400.00(!). I said that I was not interested in the switch/spring replacement - he then said it would not change the price. They would have to REBUILD the vacuum & labor would still be OVER $400.00. I call B.S. It seems: (1) they don't want to fix it (2) they know a Dyson costs a lot of $$ & are trying to SQUEEZE me for repair costs. (3) they don't repair machines- but count on non-refundable diagnostic fees & exorbitant estimates (that people will not agree to). Note: The deposit fee can go toward purchase of new vacuum FROM THEM (@ $300++). Also, there appeared to be MANY "used vacuums" for sale at their store.... THIS IS A DISREPUTABLE PLACE. *I will be looking up the schematics, ordering the part (if there is even a part that needs replacing) & fixing it MYSELF. I have been shopping at Capital Vacuum for years. I like to try to support local businesses. I also appreciate being able to see what I am purchasing. After my first time in the shop I have found it easy to be a repeat customer. I am using my second vacuum cleaner from them. The first one I took to them a few times for repairs. The repairs always gave more life to my machine and I would say they were priced fairly. I shop there for vacuum cleaner bags and attachments when needed. I always find the folks that work there to be pleasant and helpful. read more

My husband took our Dyson to the CARY location to get an estimate on repair. The estimate was $150...I said, "NO WAY". Left it unrepaired. Finally took it apart MYSELF and saw that the belt was missing...bought a $2 belt on Amazon, put it in and MY VACCUM NOW WORKS!! So, this place was going to RIP US OFF and charge us $150 to fix my $600 Dyson that was 8 years old, when all that it needed was a belt. I will never use this place and will tell everyone I know not to use them. One bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Very sad. Too bad they don't have a facebook page or a way to send them an email that I can find. read more

Have experienced poor customer service one too many times at the Cary NC location on East Chatham Street. Ordered a part Dec 13th and despite being told it was a 3 week delivery time, I was never called to say it arrived and each time I called to check on the order status I got nowhere and no call backs. Today I called and it was there. Evidently had been there for two weeks and even though the clerk said he would call me back with an update. Surprise....I was never called. Love supporting local business but this lack of customer service is inexcusable. read more

You can tell the quality of a business by how they deal with problems. Capital Vacuum (Central St, Albany location) gets an A in my book. The hose on my Dyson sprung a leak. Cap Vacc has fixed this vacuum last Dec, did a great job. So I called them again. They told me to bring it down (on a Sunday) and fixed it while I waited. Perfect! Until.......the next week I put the attachment on the hose and then COULDN'T GET IT OFF AGAIN. Called them again. They are open until 8 on Thursdays. I brought it down, Reggie replaced the handle AND the hose. While I waited and no charge. They were VERY apologetic. This is my second great experience with this company. They should keep my vacuum running for many years. read more

Don't get "sucked" in. I've been here a couple times for repairs, parts, new. For just buying parts off the shelf, pricing and service are OK. For new, prices and models were high. For service - horrible. My Hoover upright did not have good suction and sounded poor. They charged a $25 deposit to drop it off for "service". When I returned to pick it up, they charged me another $32.05, totaling $57.05. For what? The belt, two filters and a bag; those parts altogether cost less than $10. When I gently protested about the overall price and even replacing the bag which is not part of any service I signed up for, and I can do myself without any labor charge, they only replied, "Well, the bag was pretty full." So??? P.S. The sound was just as bad, or worse, after their service/replacement, the belt broke again before long and this time I must replace the roller (on my own of course) b/c the belt is melted on the roller. Either there were bigger problems last time they didn't identify/fix or the prior belt had already been melting on the roller. Either way, they charged me a LOT to "fix" nothing and I ended up with a bigger problem. I'll NEVER go back. read more
