I told the lady who answered the phone that I was going to put fixaflat in it but I realized my tire was split so I couldn't put air in it or anything. Her condescending valley girl-like response was "yeah, well my mechanic won't touch anything associated with fixaflat because it's cancerous so.." and I said "ok?" and she hung up. Initially, a great experience. They fixed my truck quickly. The truck had multiple issues, and they kept me informed and had all the work done the same day. They didn't even charge me for one repair that turned out to be simpler than expected. Edit: Had to go back to the shop a few times for one of the problems that they fixed. Called in mentioning that we thought we needed our alternator replaced. They replaced it right away and charged us $400 (overpriced) for the work... It turned out that the alternator wasn't the issue. I asked them why they replaced it if it wasn't the issue and they stated: "we just do what we're told..." This is not the way to do business. Any reputable, honest mechanic would check the alternator before they replaced it, to assure it needed to be performed. I will not be going back, moving forward, as this is sketchy work in my eyes... And they charge $30 to rotate tires, without balancing them- what a rip off. read more

Left this review on Google as well, but want to spread the word as much as possible... I have taken my car here since I purchased it about 2.5 years ago. I have always had great and fast service. When I moved to south Denver and my car started acting up, I didn't even question driving the 25 minutes to take it to them. They called me about three hours after I dropped the car off to ask how long it had been since the power steering pump had been replaced. I told them it had been a couple of years, which surprised them since it looked like it was only a few months old (i've only driven the car about 7k miles since purchase). I have no doubt that they were about to advise me to take it back to the place I had the work done previously since it looked so new, but since it was years ago they quoted me a price ($1100) that sounded rather steep to me for a car I rarely drive. After hearing the quote, I called a few other places to see what they would charge. All three quotes I received ranged from $1700 to $1900. As soon as I heard those quotes, I called back and spoke with a woman (sorry I'm horrible with names), who I questioned extensively about the issues. She spent probably 10 minutes going over all of my questions because I'm just the kind of person that needs to understand these things. Not only was she patient with me, but when I told her I don't drive the car often, she gave me an option that she really didn't have to give to me and most places probably wouldn't have. She told me there was a chance it may not work, but it could probably also last a year or more. Knowing how little I drive the car, I went with this option that ended up saving me $700. When I went to pick the car up, the guy was super friendly and joked around with my boyfriend and me. He told me he thought I would be fine with the option I went with, but to bring it back immediately if I ran into issues. I truly appreciate their honesty and willingness to help. I also want to mention that they have provided me with services in the past that they didn't charge me for when most places would have charged at least $50. This is what makes me willing to drive a little extra when I need someone to look at my car. I won't go anywhere else until they give me a reason to believe that they have changed the way they do business. Thank you guys again for being a trustworthy business! Really skeptical about the service I received here. Basically, my car would not start one day and I had to find a mechanic near by to tow my car and diagnose it. Look a little while to figure out what was wrong but eventually told it was some sensor that needed to be replaced for a whopping $258 (called my regular mechanic back home who said this price is pretty high for a crank shaft position sensor replacement). When the woman on the phone told me what the problem was she said 'this might be the beginning of other issues' so I make sure that she knows I DONT WANT TO PUT MORE THAN $300 into my 20 year old car. She says we are confident the main problem is the sensor for $258. I say OK fine fix it as they basically have my car hostage and I have no choice because my car can't even drive off of their lot. I am called and told the car is fixed and ready to go. Literally 2 minutes after driving away from the shop giant plumes of smoke start coming out of my exhaust. Lovely. Upon returning my car to the shop and asking if it was ever test driven before It was given back to me the repair man in the shop started to get angry and defensive with me because he felt I was accusing him of not driving it before giving it back to me. He says "well all of this smoke wasn't coming out of the car when we had it here"...ok sir but obviously something is wrong and what is the insinuation by saying that wasn't happing when the car was at the shop? Did I somehow break the car two seconds away from the shop? I don't think so. Anyways my gut feeling is telling me that the shop ran diagnostics on my car...saw that it was an expensive fix..tried to fix what they can for cheap so that they can steal $300+ (repair plus $75 tow) from me knowing that the car would DRIVE but that it wasn't actually fixed and was not 100% safe to drive. Driving with all of the smoke coming out of my exhaust could have caused an accident and my car should never have left that lot if it wasn't safe. I have a huge issue with my fuel regulator and fuel injectors now, that they quoted $900 to fix in addition to the $258 I had already paid them. This is a far cry from the original small fix they thought it was. I will be getting a second opinion on this and will update this post when I do. A 1998 Lexus does not typically have a million things break down at once, it is a very reliable car. If this shop had been honest with me as far as the extent of the repairs I would have just gotten rid of my car and never would I have paid them to repair a small part of a much larger problem. I also hope this shop does not try to take advantage of women because they think we know less about cars and also because I was from a big city out of town. Bottom line BE HONEST WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS AND DON'T MAKE THEM FEEL BAD FOR ASKING QUESTIONS. If it's a big problem to fix just be honest and don't rip people off. Maybe this shop is good with smaller car problems but don't take your car here if you are not sure the scope of the issue you have with your car. read more

I was told by Tesfaye Mullatu that he could repair my car to pass emissions. So I brought my car in to have the necessary repairs made. I picked up my car on June 12th and it failed again. I took it back to him and explained to him what happened, and he seemed to not care and took my car in for the second time. I picked my car up on June 24th and it failed again . I looked under the hood and noticed loose parts on top of the engine, air filter was not clamped down , no oil in the crankshaft , and the oil filter had not been changed. Needless to say the spark plug wires were not changed. My receipt shows that these things were replaced and I was charged for labor and parts , but these things were never done. My receipt also shows that the O2 sensor and valve cover gasket was replaced, but I'm not sure if they were. I have asked for the third time that he refund my $380 for fraudulent auto repairs and he refuses to do so. I WOULDN'T REFER THIS PLACE OF BUSINESS TO ANYONE. Following up -- 7/1/2014 Capitol Hill Conoco replaced the Alternator on our Toyota pick-up truck. 8/22/2014 Alternator goes out while we are driving in the mountains. 8/26/2014 Got the truck back to the Conoco and they replaced the 'Faulty' part at no cost. Insurance company should reimburse for tow truck. Only thing lost was time. read more

These guys are great -- I won't go to another repair shop in Denver. They always manage to squeeze you in if you're in a pinch. This weekend my brakes started making a horrifying noise, and I brought my car in an hour before closing time on a Saturday. When I explained that I worked 12 hour shifts all week, they fit me in even though they were swamped for the rest of the work day. The worst experience I have had trying to repair my car. They charged me 90 bucks to replace two fuses that took them 10/min to do. On top of that the two ''fuses" they put in didn't fix anything. All they didn't was charge my battery enough to get paid and then get me down street far enough to be a pain to bring it back. The people were rood they will try to hustle you the second you give them a chance. The only reason i took the time to write this post is cause after i got ripped off i ended up hearing from 2 other separate people the same thing that happened to me. RIP OFF. I found this business on Yelp when I was looking for an oil change. Both yep and their website state that they provide this service. When I went to call and make an appointment I spoke with a very rude and abrasive woman who cut me off, said they do not provide this service, and then hung up on me. This is the ONLY service station I recommend to anyone. If you need work done on the computer or carb, take it to the experts at Autotailor, but if you need a fairly major but simple repair (rear shocks, heater core, fuel pump, gas tank replacement), these guys will do a great job for half the price of anywhere else. They are also honest and won't try to make you pay for parts you don't need or repair work not done (too many dishonest mechanics out there). The gasoline they sell is top quality as well . . . I never get gas anywhere else unless I'm out of town. read more

I would like to commend the staff at Capitol Hill Auto. My wife and I set out on a Friday to enjoy the "First Friday Art Walk" and while finding a parking spot ran over a bolt that was going to create a flat. I called and talked to Zac. He told me to come over and they would take care of me ( this was Friday night at 8:30 PM) We were so impressed with their helpfulness and kindness. They fixed us right up and we were on our way. I started using this team a few months ago. I was looking for a local garage in Capitol Hill that might work on my '72 MG. I generally take it to a speciality shop but it's really out of the way. I've had the brakes done and fuel lines repaired. Great job on both. When they did the brakes, they also repacked the bearings at a reasonable cost. They couldn't find a fuel line so they had one made. Great service! I like that they're ready to say when they can or can't do something. They seem like honest guys and, for me, you can't beat their location. They've got good contacts in the area and can get parts quickly, even for my car! read more

Have to change my original review, I had my tires changed there and they overtightened the lug nuts. I had to put a 4 foot pipe on the lug wrench (which I then bent) to get the nuts loosed when I got a flat on one of the tires. Thank god I was at home and had the tools, if I had been on a highway you would have heard me two counties away. Went back in and had them fix the lug night tourque, they would not replace the bent lug nut wrench. Wont be back ever. read more

Post script to my engine mess: called and said jeep was ready, but when I went to pick it up, I was told that transmission leaking oil and had to be fixed, but I coulddrive home......well I didn'teven get one mile and car would not go into gear. Do not bring your car here. I have never written a yelp review before but I have to share how terribly this place has impacted me and my car. I brought my car here once because the location was convenient and I didn't have an established mechanic at the time. At the time I didn't think they were great, but though they were at least okay- they were slow and didn't communicate well but they said they had found the issue and fixed it. Since then, my car has had FOUR major issues that have all been related back to bad work that was done at this shop. The last issue I had was because they wired the ignition coil incorrectly and it has been slowly melting ever since. The new place I bring my car said they were "surprised it didn't catch fire" while I was driving it. Appalling. It has also cost me over $2k to fix all the issues that have come from their initial repairs. And I don't know if more issues will come of it- I no longer take my car on out of denver because my single mistake of taking it to this shop has made it completely unreliable. It has been an incredibly frustrating experience in many levels so I wanted to share. Think twice before you bring your car here. read more

So glad I found these guys! Had a battery problem on my new car, but the dealer couldn't look at it until after Christmas. Went right in without scheduling anything, and they diagnosed the problem in about two minutes. THEN they let me sit there with my broken car for an hour to argue with the dealer over warranty repair, without trying to sell me anything. Eventually I got the battery replaced at the shop. They cut me a break on the cost, and got the part delivered and installed it all in about 30 minutes after I told them I needed to be back in the office for a conference call. I don't see myself going anywhere else in the future. These guys are friendly, knowledgable, and don't give you the runaround or try to up-sell you stuff you don't need. read more
