When you walk in you get that Cheer's feeling. The bar, the pool tables and high tops by the window. We were greeted right away and service was on point. The conch fritters were excellent. They were crispy and full if flavor. The house salad was good too. It was fresh and had grape tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce. Next came the pizzas. We wanted the deep dish experience so we both ordered one. The pepperoni , meatball and mushroom with sauce on top was the best. My nephew had deep dish ricotta and garlic and said it was cheese overload. I'd like to come back and try the thin crust pizzas next . The only downfall for me was the live lobster game. Casual place with good food and service. We sat outside with a view of the intracoastal. Boats can dock here. They have an indoor and outdoor bar. There are TVs and pool tables inside along with dining tables. They have a lot of variety on their menu. There are many italian dishes with homemade sauce. We had the famous Chicago style pizza. You can get any flavor pizza and pay $3 extra for the thick crust. Our pizza came with fresh mushrooms, green peppers, onions, pepperoni and sausage. They use quality ingredients. The medium pizza cost $20. There are about 8 free parking spots in front. We parked at the city garage a few blocks north and walked. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. read more

Capone's, Flicker Lite, a landmark for decades on Hollywood Beach is truly a great spot, especially for Chicago natives who are sport lovers of all Chicago Sports. It's a true sports bar from its time. With a large bar flanked by TV's and sports perafernailia and comfortable to sit through full football games, we can sit there and watch our weekly Bear games, order our drinks and eat lunch or dinner. They also have plenty of 4 top seating and TV's around the dining room which surrounds the bar. They have a full bar and bucket specials on beer. Not the greatest wine selection if you are a wine drinker, but heck, I am at a sports bar drinking my Vodka's and Soda. The menu is extremely large with lots of options and if you are coming to enjoy the Chicago specialties, I've had them all. The Chicago Beef Sandwich is as good as any I've had in Chicago served with giardiniera and it hot peppers on the side and a side of the au jus which is always a delicacy of the Chicago Beef. They serve a large portion of beef, piled on the large beef bun. The loaded Chicago Hot Dog with side of fries is also as original as any Chicago Hot Dog place in Chicago with all the fixings; Vienna Hot Dog, with the hot peppers, plenty of onions and tomatoes and mustard, all on a poppy seed bun. We also have ordered the small Chicago Deep Dish Pizza (Personal Size) , but recommend the medium size because the crust on the Personal Size overpowers the ingredients. Still delicious. I also recommend the Wedge Salad. The menu is quite extensive, offering an abundance of items and bar food you would see in most sports bars. Quality is good. Since we usually sit at the bar, this is the only service experience we have had. That is hit or miss. Sometimes it takes a long time to get service because they may only have one bartender behind the bar who also serves the food from the kitchen, but sometimes it is pretty good. In a nutshell, it is inconsistent. Watching sports here is fun. Everyone at the bar is a "cheerleader" for their teams, and no one is afraid to come here dressed for the opposing team (my wife is a Packer fan), so I can handle it. A very friendly and cheery cliental. There is a fun game room area with a pool table and various games. There is dining outside on the water overlooking the inter coastal. Fun place to watch sports and eat some good food and if you are from Chicago, definitely recommend experiencing the camaraderie here at Capone's Flicker Lite. I have never been to this restaurant. However, a few of my colleagues have, and they are a fan. Sunday night, 4 of us went out to have food and drinks. We waited an inordinate amount of time to be served. We asked for a menu for alcohol. He provided us a ripped and torn menu with limited choices. My colleagues drank beer... I chose rum and coke. I chose wrong, I've drank water that was stronger. I didn't taste one ounce of rum. When the waiter finally decided to appear again, I brought the issue of the watered down rum and coke to his attention. He looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I decided to order 1 more. Same issue. The 4 of us placed our orders. The 2 that have been there, they liked their choices. My colleague and I did not. My appetizer, the cracked conch was overpriced, especially since it was severely overcooked. He ordered a personal mushroom pizza which was significantly larger than the LARGE Chicken & Broccoli pizza I ordered. The mushroom pizza was overcooked on the outside. My colleague who is Italian and a pizza aficionado, said it was doughy. The catfish got most of his pizza. I did not enjoy the chicken and broccoli pizza, which I've had before at other restaurants with zero issue. Bland and tasteless. The best part of the evening was watching people throw food into the intercoastal. That is NOT a good thing. Overall, bad food, watered down drinks, a waiter that clearly had no interest in working. I pulled into Capone's Flicker Lite by boat on Mother's Day. I know you're not going to believe this. Even though it's actually true and happened to me, I don't believe it either. But you know what their Mother's Day Special was? It was fish tacos! Now who would take their mother out on her special day of the year to feed her a fish taco? Oh, maybe you're thinking it was an especially good fish taco, but they weren't. They were just less than run of the mill tilapia tacos. As all the other restaurants were packed, no seats available, I ended up here and though the place is large, I was about the only customer. I was given a menu at a nice seat overlooking and with a terrific view of the Intracoastal. I ordered veal Marsala, but no, not until evening and then only if they have. I then asked for spaghetti but again no, no spaghetti served in the afternoon. An Italian restaurant that won't serve spaghetti unless it's as served as an entrée and then only for dinner in the evening? So, I ended up with an overpriced fish and chips ($12.95), being three tiny thin slices of breaded fish on top of a pile of soggy tasteless greasy gallbladder attacking French fries. My companion, though he thought he was going do better than me by ordering a meatball hoagie in fact didn't. The hoagie was disgusting not only in taste, but in flavor and texture as assembly of the meatballs in the hoagie were near laughable; the worst. He couldn't eat it and after I tasted it I couldn't eat it, so I understood why he couldn't. What Capone's Flicker Lite is, is little more than a second rate pizza joint/dive bar and a kiddies amusement game arcade. It's also not the cleanest. The place is in dire need of a good cleaning and sprucing up. For example, the glass doors leading to the patio dock obviously have not been cleaned in a long, long time. They're completely covered with greasy finger and hand prints; undoubtedly a result of Capone's Flicker Lite's greasy foods. Then, when I first sat down and placed my arm on one of the tables, my arm ended up getting a good smug of dark red stale ketchup on it. Indeed, with all these points of cleanliness neglected, it had me wondering what the kitchen must be like. It's a shame that as horrid place is gets to occupy such a prime setting offering such great views of the Intracoastal. There ought to be a culinary law against it; a felony. One Star only. Eeeeek! We were told it would be a 15 minute wait. 45 minutes later our table was given away and then we were seated after having to ask the hostess again. In the meantime we were charged $12 for a $5 beer. Once seated, it took another half hour for our server to reach us at which point after taking our order she brought us the wrong food twice and forgot another part of the order entirely (which took another half hour). Not sure if it's not enough servers or they are asking them to do too much but the service may be as bad as I have received in 20 years. We even gave the place two shots. The first time we left after 15 minutes bc we had not been given menus or had a server stop by. Like 10 people walked by and never said a word. And frankly, even the second night our server seemed unhappy and overwhelmed. 2 1/2 stars. When I dined at Capone's Flicker Lite, last week, I was amazed that I had not yet reviewed it. After all, I have been eating at Flicker Lite for about 20 years. Many years ago when I lived on Hollywood Beach, Flicker Light was already legendary for having the best pizza in town. In hindsight I cannot recall if it was actually that great or simply much better than the competition. These days there is much better pizza everywhere and Flicker Light's pizza seems kind of average. That is the case for most of their food. It is average (or less than average). The wings are probably one of their better items. I have enjoyed the Garden Salad with Chicken. The chicken is moist and nicely marinated. I also like the house dressing. On our last visit my Mom enjoyed her burger and 11 year old loved his steak. Besides bar food there is a full Italian menu. I have tried the Eggplant Parm. The eggplant was unrecognizable, a thin fried mess covered in globs of cheese and sauce. I could not eat much of it. In the past, 11 year old ordered the Pasta Fra Diavlo, which was not great either. The place itself is a fairly large dive bar, home to Chicago sports teams. Fans of all Chicago sports teams will feel right at home with Chicago sports memorabilia adorning the walls. The place inside is fairly large and can get pretty loud. The outside is right on the inter-coastal. It is quieter there, with fantastic views. There are some arcade games, including my boys' absolute favorite, a lobster claw machine! On one visit 13 year old actually won a lobster! Unfortunately, it was at the very end of our meal. We left and picked up the cooked lobster later. The service is on the slower side. Some of the servers are friendly and some are not. When we were waiting for service on our last visit and asked a young woman for help, she barked back, "I'm not your server!" So with mediocre food and service, why do we go back? Convenience, I guess. It's right near my Mom's place on Hollywood Beach, it's fairly reasonable, and the boys like it. However, if anyone has any suggestions for other family oriented places on Hollywood Beach, we would be willing to give them a try! read more

Arrived and waited 20 minutes for a server. The waiter quickly took our order. Unfortunately not everything we wanted was available. Waiters attitude was nonchalant. We ordered chicken tenders with buffalos sauce and grouper fingers. After 30 minutes chicken came out without sauce. It was clearly not cooked together, two tenders barely cooked and one burned. Grouper came out roughly 5 minutes later and was so greasy that I used 4 napkins to try and remove it. Unfortunately it tasted awful. We really enjoyed our time here. The service was a little slow, but it's not for lack of trying. They are short staffed and the ladies are running and trying and they're sweet and funny. I honestly can't believe this restaurant has such poor reviews. We came in with the expectation that we would eat on the patio watching the boats on the Inter-coastal and the hostess warned us how hot it would be outside...she even let us walk outside and test the temperature. We'd been at the beach all day so we thought this was silly, but boy was she right!!! This was the first moment we learned to trust the Capone staff. Our entire experience was amazing! They sat us near a window so we could still have a view but in the air conditioned main room (which has an entire game room section). The food was top notch! We ordered 2 dozen oysters and jalapeño poppers (DO NOT miss out on the poppers, they're superb). The kids had pizza and chicken tenders but the adults ordered fish tacos, gyro, and a burger. My husband said the personal pizza the kids ordered was one of the best pizzas he'd ever had and all of us brought home leftovers. I can't say enough about how kind and accommodating this staff was, they truly went above and beyond to make our experience a special one. First of all the customer service here is TERRIBLE. The staff is unbelievably rude. We called to place an order for deliver as Google shows they offer delivery and they stated we had to order it thru their site (which is fine). We ordered through their site, paid and all that nonsense, that part was easy. We ordered around 8pm and the delivery was estimated to be 45minutes to an hour. Anyways an hour and 30 minutes goes by and we call the restaurant to figure out wtf is going on - 1. The first woman who answered the phone was very rude and basically said our food is done and it's our problem because their delivery is though another system. 2. A woman named Danielle called back to inform us our order was ready for pickup. We told her we ordered as a pickup, and she basically said it's not their problem and to come pick it up bc it's been sitting there, mind you she HUNG UP on us while we were talking. Nobody called us for over a hour while our food sat there and she admitted it. I get them using a 3rd party to deliver, like I said that's fine but it's the fact that the employees were so damn rude. Hanging up in their paying customers face!?! That's terrible business practice!! We ended up calling their 3rd party to figure out where our food was and they said the same BS. We asked to cancel the order or to have it refunded bc we were not about to eat some cold food that been sitting there. The online ordering people called the restaurant and they declined us a refund insane. Moving on - the food ended up getting delivered after we tried to refund/cancel it. It was TWO hours later. We called again, spoke to April and she declined us a refund because the "food was delivered". Regardless of the food begins delivered it was COLD, WAS NOT MADE CORRECTLY, SOGGY AND BURNT! That was the cherry on the cake I stg. We explained this all to April, asking for a refund now bc the food was TRASH and SHE LAUGHED AND HUNG UP! At this point we were pissed. I called back and we got Nick (bartender manager) and let me tell you, he was a god send. He listened to me rant about this entire situation so calmly, agreed the service was bad and was in awe that the employees there were so unprofessional. He checked on the order and made sure it was voided. Shout out to nick!!! He is the only reason we might reconsider going back. I was gonna rate this a 1/5 but since we talked to Nick, imma give it a 2/5. In regards to the food - it was cold. That shit sat out. The pizza was burnt and HARD at the bottom. Secondly. The sandwhich was supposed to have cheese, tomato's, Mayo, lettuce etc. plus the fries were soggy. we wrote that in the special instructions and I'm sure the employees didn't even read them considering their attitude lol.
