Trying to support local resturants however, one time food was so salty had to throw it away. Today they forgot the meat that goes with my meal. It was a to-go order so mistake was not realized until I arrived home. It was 3:00 and there was only one person in the resturant. This is why these small owned resturants don't survive. I've been going to the Capparelli's in Garden Ridge for as long as I can remember, but I have to say this one is better. Eggplant and chicken parm- 9.5/10 Cheese ravioli- 8/10 Flatbreads- 10/10 MEAT BALLS- 100/10 Their house salad dressing is to die for and don't even get me started on the marinara sauce. If I'm being honest I could eat it like soup. Lovely little spot for a good bite, always super clean and awesome staff. Lunch prices can't be beat. Random extra- the bathrooms are always very clean as well. So glad I have a Capparelli's close again now that I've moved. Service is the reason for the bad review: Refills were only offered once when they brought to go containers for our pizza (I went up to request my own refills), & we had to get our own menus(no one else came in to the store after us and they were cleaning a large table instead of getting us menus). Wait time was okay- but maybe didn't need to have been as long for The pizza was good, my boys ate about a quarter and we accidentally left the rest behind the side salad was very large leaf chunks but only like three, a lot of red onions, one tomato slice, and like 1/3 of a cup of black olives (which I didn't mind bc I love them). Overall the side salad was not worth the nearly $4 a pop they cost, but I can't eat much else these days so it was there. I might give them another chance due to the pizza being good. read more

Give it a go! Today was our first visit for my husband's birthday lunch. We were very pleased with the genuine friendliness of the owners. We loved hearing them tell about their family pictures on the wall and a bit of history behind the restaurant. The Italian nachos are a must try, and our Philly flatbread was loaded with protein which I loved! We will certainly be back. read more

We have had great food and service here many times. This is definitely my favorite spot to eat in town.

Over the last 10 years this place has gone down the toilet! This used to be an OK place to eat and now it is NOT OK at all. The nice bread they used to serve is now hotdog buns, I think, with some kind of cheap butter on them. Instead of giving you some nice olive oil to dunk your bread and they give you vinegar with some herbs in it. It is absolutely scary how shocking and bad it tastes! The pizza has some kind weird fake looking/tasting cheese all over it. The crust is thick and gooey, and not even quite cooked all the way. All in all, it is a shame to go somewhere you used to enjoy and find it to be so pitiful. The inside is the same inside as 10 years ago only tired, dirty and drab. The waitress did a nice job, I cannot blame her or make her responsible for any of this, but this place has gone so far downhill I don't even recognize it. In my opinion this food was not good and overpriced. I got the tortellini with red sauce and the tortellini tasted very cheap. The service was okay, but the the waitress gave my boyfriend a spoon instead of a fork for fettuccine Alfredo, and didn't come back to check in. We were visiting LaVernia for a funeral and needed to feed a large family. Capparelli's gave us VIP treatment. I emailed my order (two large pizzas, one supreme with jalapenos on the side; one margarita), one family order of chicken fettuccine, one large Italian salad, one small Italian salad, one small ceasar. They gave us a ton of delicious bread and a gallon of tea at no additional charge. The owners called to confirm the order and it was hot and ready when we arrived. Food was OUTSTANDING and service was A plus. Went there recently. The waitress literally threw the menus at us and told us it was going to be a long time, because she was busy. She never came back. Finally another woman came and took our order. She was also in a bad mood. Our food finally came; but the waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything else. She never even came back to give us our ticket. I went up to the counter to get our ticket and pay. The first older lady was there, ignored me; then finally told the other woman to take care of it. This has got to be the worst service that I've ever had. The place was packed and the older waitress talked with other customers that she seemed to know. She never made eye contact; nor did the younger one. I might be wrong; but this place had a very racist feel to it. It's a "good ole boy" kind of place. Since it's all one room, it was extremely noisy. We couldn't even have a conversation. Kids were running around. We will NEVER return. The food isn't that great; and the service is worse. read more

I ordered 2 large pizzas this past weekend and they were delicious!!!! They're full of quality toppings and not greasy! It's got ample amount of toppings and cheese. The crust is a pan style crust but is not too thick. It's just right!!! The service for a Friday night was quick! Better than the chain pizza in town. And the employees are very friendly. Most unprofessional place I've ever been. It seems the waitress and kitchen staff are both miserable, always fighting and yelling across the restaurant. The owner rips off, verbally abuses, and humiliates his staff seemingly every chance he gets, on top of being obviously drunk any time he enters the restaurant. I really hate leaving bad reviews as I am a pretty understanding person, but here goes. We waited WAY too long for our food, but I did try and brush this off because they did seem really short staffed. Our food was meh. It should have been warmer. Our waitress was super sweet and she did make our experience a little better. She did great, but I'm leaving only 2 stars because we had to listen to the other girl who was working the window yell at the kitchen staff for the whole 1.5 hours we were there. It was so unprofessional. I get frustrations, especially when short handed, but its not fun for patrons and good communication can go a long way. We will never be back here. read more

I have now been to Capparelli's in La Vernia a handful of times. It is okay - definitely could be better. I've had different things there: the lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, and the chicken parmesan just to name a few. Seems like everything I have had is just on the lower end of "okay". For example, when I had the lasagna, some of the noodles were under cooked and the dish itself was not very hot. Same with the fettuccine. Same with the rigatoni I had with the chicken parmesan. The rigatoni I had today - some of the noodles were chewy; they definitely were not cooked thoroughly. Their red sauce is also kind of watery. Today we took two clients to eat here. They drove down from New Braunfels. I was embarrassed. They put ranch on my client's salad when she ordered Italian. My other client ordered the soup of the day. It wasn't until about 10 minutes later that our waitress came back and told him they were "out" of the soup of the day. Really? IT WAS 11:45. We always end up with the same waitress, and for the most part, she's does a pretty good job. Today wasn't the best, but they were much busier than usual. I did not particularly appreciate (even if she did so in jest) her pointing out we were the loudest people in the place. Yes, we had a table of six - two of which are elderly. But so what if we were being loud? There always seem to be flies in here. Take a fly swatter. read more

Service was great. Allie was a great waitress, always checking in to see if I needed anything else. If you love cheese then the pizza is for you. It was draped in Mozzarella. Unfortunately you coukd tell the ingredients were added separately & not not allowed to " cook" together allowing the flavors to meld But tge wine was good & so was the cannoli. Haven't been here in years. Thought we would swing by and see if still good. Location is good but ambiance is lacking. Absolutely nothing on the walls and really loud. I had shrimp Gaetano which was my favorite way back when. Shrimp was over cooked and pasta bland. Spaghetti was good and meatballs are still pretty awesome! Customer service fantastic! The food is absolutely awful. My husband and I went and ordered two salads, their house Italian and Cesar adding grilled chicken. The grilled chicken was fatty, flavorless and full of chewy bits. The dressing was ok but very oily. The fried ravioli was decent but the jalapeños added a weird flavor to an otherwise classic Italian dish. I I have given this place several times a chance to make it right. I'm a pizza lover and enjoy Italian food. We've finally decided that we will not be returning. The pizzas are never the same, even if they're ordered the same way every time. I even paided for extra cheese this last time and with pictures you could see there is definitely no added extra cheese because there were many areas on the pizza without cheese at all. The pasta sauce is okay but when you add it with watered-down noodles it doesn't taste very good. Almost as you're having tomato soup with some noodles in it. I've seen the owner speak to his employees... (which are never the same) and he definitely doesn't have respect for them. I've been to Capparelli's a few times now as I occasionally work in the ER a few doors down. I've had the Italian sandwich which I thought was really tasty, the bread especially was delicious, and fresh. Today I ordered the chef salad and again it was great, lots of toppings, fresh with house made dressings. Fast service and good prices. Nice little place. read more
