All other NB pizza joints with their thin crust pizza aren't apples to apples comparison to Sofia's NYC style, but they're nowhere close in crust flavor development to Sofia's with their 3-day cold fermentation process of their dough. It's the gold standard in pizza dough technique. Look it up if you don't believe me or aren't aware. My favorite pizza in central Texas is Pie Society in San Marcos; they're my 9.9/10. My wife and I popped in for some Pizza and beer- spoiler alert- no beer. We ordered Double Pepperoni pizza, Chicken fettuccine and garlic Parmesan wings. And two drinks. $64 way too expensive! The pizza was delicious! The wings tasted boiled with a light coat of fry and a lighter dusting of garlic Parmesan. The chicken fettuccine was delicious, however, it could have used some additional sauce. The service was courteous and helpful as the person helping us brought our food and all utensils. The ambiance was of a new pizza place- still working- they have several TVs hopefully they will show the games in the future. I will not go back for this price. read more

Heard of a new pizza place in town and being a pizza lover thought we'd give it a try . It was busy on a Saturday night about 6:30pm. You order at the counter , sit down and they bring out your pizza. I didn't see a menu listed on the wall and just saw several different pizzas on display . I asked an employee working with dough if they only sold slices . He didn't answer, got some menus and told me to put the rest on the counter, he seemed grumpy. There is a QR code on the menu that will lead you to their website, which is not user friendly on a smartphone. To find out what was in a Greek salad I had to go to the website. I ordered a medium size pizza and a small Greek salad to go at the counter. About 4 tables were empty but weren't bussed. We sat at a small cafe table and waited . after a while I noticed that I had been sitting there a while. I Went up to the cashier and told her I had been waiting 15 minutes and she said that they did not call my name /order yet. So I waited and talked with my mom, lost track of time and now 30+ minutes has passed. Went to the counter and told the cashier that I had been waiting for over a half hour. It actually was close to 40 minutes by the time we left the restaurant . the bottom of the pizza box did not feel hot at all. by the time we got home , the pizza was cold and we had to microwave it . The Greek salad was very small for $6, a lot of olives and red onion slices. I had thought that it was possibly larger so 2 could share but I was wrong. I am not at all satisfied with the service. Right now I really can't comment on the pizza because after paying $30 , the service for a To Go order was so bad it really ruined the experience for me. I called in my order since their online menu doesn't show lunch specials. I ordered a pepperoni piece of pizza and a side salad for my lunch special for a little over $10. I was told my only pizza option was cheese Im ready pepperoni. When I got there to pick up my order there were many other options in the case. When I was handed the small box with my piece of pizza, and I thought that the box was empty, it was so light when I got home. It was just a cold slice of pizza that was the size of a regular small slice of pizza. I was expecting a bigger piece since it was sold by the slice. The flavor was okay at best. I was really not impressed. I read some comments on Facebook that said that it was New York style and that the slices were huge. No offense to that person, but maybe they've never had New York style pizza before. These are not big slices either. If you are not a fan of pepperoni, this is not the place for you. They had six pizzas out for display, which they said had been sitting out for about an hour. They did not look very appetizing to me, but I guess I've been spoiled by Home Slice Pizza in Austin, Texas. They had pepperoni and what looked like meatball, pepperoni and bell pepper slices, pepperoni by itself, and also pineapple with what looked like bacon. The only vegetarian option they had was plain cheese. I ordered a plain cheese slice to go. There is not much flavor, and I'm sure I could make better pizza at home. I was honestly hoping that this would be a new place in town that I would stop by every week because I don't know of any place in New Braunfels that sells pizza by the slice, but I don't think that's gonna happen. There would need to be some serious variation, and not just a variation on pepperoni with something else. Price seems a little high for what you get. Went on a Saturday around 1. There were maybe 6-8 people dining. We were greeted right away. They have lunch specials M-Sa. Two slices of cheese or pepperoni and a drink for $10.99 or two speciality slices and a drink for a few bucks more. We did both. Tried cheese, pepperoni, supreme and Alfredo. Also ordered a salad. Jake (a manager) was very kind and helpful. They do have a full menu too. The slices are served "mall style." Pick your slice from pies precooked and sliced and they put it in the oven to heat up. Mine could have been cooked longer for a better crunch. Didn't care for the Alfredo. The rest of the pizza was fine. Nothing that made it stand out. Restrooms were clean. read more

I've only been once and plan to return as the 2 slices I got where very good. I thought it was odd that the theme is " by the slice but there were no prices anywhere including the menu listing by the slice prices. The cashier said they were $5 each. The other thing I didn't care for was the sign on the door that says no public restrooms. Not to be that guy but NB has a city ordinance that says all businesses that are open to the public are required to have public access to the restroom, simply because the city has no public restrooms. But it gives an unfriendly feeling. NB isn't like Austin swarming with homeless so no need for that mentality. I look forward to getting more great food here. The look inside the same as it was for the last restaurant that was there so it looks like a BBQ place. read more

Been in New Braunfels for a while and I've had a hard time finding good pizza. That being said, this has been the best so far. The crust was by far the king, had the crunch of any great pizza, but also just the right amount of chewiness and the flavor was awesome. The sauce came in at a close second. No complaints at all, just delicious pizza. The service was great too! The manager was checking on people and was so kind and he took a lot of pride in his product which is well deserved. I completely understand that they just opened up. But frankly, the pizza was really bad and burnt. We ordered DOUBLE pepperoni, olives, and mushrooms, and on each slice, there were probably three olives and two mushrooms; not all the slices had pepperoni. When I went back up to the counter to inform them that the cooking needed to be adjusted due to being charred, the cashier said she couldn't help me because "she's just a cashier" and that I needed to go find someone else. Her manager was 20 feet away from her. Also, they ran out of Parmesan cheese, and there was a couple random paper plates on the counter. It's poor planning on ordering and managing the business. The customer service was poor and when the pizza was delivered to the table, the sides were not brought over. The manager gave us a voucher for a free pizza but we will not be back. We've now been to Sofia's Pizza twice, and the second visit really stood out. The first time we went was opening weekend, so it was packed. The wait was a little longer than normal, but that was expected for a brand-new spot and the food still tasted great, which made it worth it. This second visit felt a lot more dialed in. The service was solid, I'd give it about a 7/10. Nothing over the top, but it was friendly, timely, and our food came out hot and fresh, which always matters. As for the food itself, flavor was easily a 10/10. We ordered the spaghetti with marinara and meatballs and the lasagna, and both were really good. The standout was definitely the meatballs. Not many places get a compliment on their meatballs, but these had really good flavor and seasoning, you can tell they put effort into them. They weren't bland or overly dense like you get at a lot of places. Overall, the food quality is what really carries the experience here. If they keep the flavor and consistency like this, it's going to be a spot we keep coming back to. read more

I was hesitant to go, given the reviews, but my boyfriend really wanted to try it. And I'm really glad we did. The food was absolutely amazing. I was so full, and still sad when I finished my last bite. It was extremely fresh, from the pizza down to even our sodas. The service was great. From walking, to our food taking no time and being hot, clearing our table. I'm not sure what everyone has complained about, but if what I experienced today is a normal I will definitely be back. Worst place I ever been to.I ordered 4 slices and two drinks for me and my homie costed me $30 dollars. I wanted to get a whole pizza but they said it would take 40 minutes to make so I got the slices just to wait over 30 minutes for the 4 slices that I never received thinking it would be quicker. After that I demanded a refund after they told me the slices weren't even in the oven. They had the worst service ever I would have gotten better service at McDonalds then here. I highly recommend you stay away from this establishment I hope it shuts down like the bbq place before it because they are not going to last long. read more

First off! We (me and my wife) went in to check this place out. It was about 12:25 after placing our order. She got 1 slice of pepperoni and 1 slice of cheese with a drink. I got 1 slice of meat lovers and a slice of supreme with a drink. It took almost 40 minutes to get our order. Mind you the pizza is already made. It just needs to go in the oven to be reheated. After getting our order my wife's order was wrong. They gave her 2 slices cheese instead of what she ordered. While waiting for our order I noticed a few things. Now before I say this I have experience as a line cook. I've worked in Applebee's and BWW's I've also worked as a line cook in different restaurants and in food service in nursing homes. My first job was at McDonalds. I quickly realized they were not operating as efficiently as they could. No communication amongst the kitchen staff. A gaggle of workers surrounding the tickets trying to read them. Kitchen workers standing around talking to each other. It's getting busy why are you not trying to push out orders? The crew in the kitchen was moving really slow as well. It's picking up no sense of urgency. When they brought out my wife's ( correct) order they gave her the pepperoni slice and didn't give her back the cheese slice. I know it's a new spot, but they need a lot more training.
