The bread was good, though I felt the dipping oil could have used a little more flavor. The lasagna was absolutely delicious and the portion was huge! I even had the leftovers the next day, and somehow it tasted even better. My husband loved his spaghetti and meatballs, and he was equally impressed with the generous serving size. The hostess was absolutely RUDE! We are in town for graduation and heard this was a great restaurant. The website says reservations are NOT required. The hostess looked us up and down and told us without a reservation we would NOT be getting a table until after 9 PM. The Food was terrible but the manager of the restaurant was fantastic! We ordered the Lobster carbonara and quickly realized the lobster had been frozen and reheated, causing it to be chewy and grainy. The pasta and sauce felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, because it was not saucy but, clumpy and gummy. The manicotti was OK, but not worth the price you pay for the food. Honestly, i wish i had went to the restaurant when the other viewees went so I could have had the same experience they did. Now the manager, she was Amazing. When we walked in the door to the time we had issues with the food. She deserves a raise for her professionalism and poise. We hadn't been here in quite awhile, so we decided to pop in. We wanted to grab a drink at the copper cellar bar before we ate & the bar is just as impressive as we remembered. The copper is gorgeous and the combo with the dark wood just screams OG class. The hosts were friendly enough when we came in & seemed efficient. Our bartenders (Skylar & Riley) were very friendly & Skylar popped right over to take our order. She was unfamiliar with the drink I ordered (Pimms Cup), but she enthusiastically said she'd go look it up to try it make it. Unfortunately, they didn't stock Pimms, but she made me a French 75 instead. We had fun at the bar and our table was ready at the cappuccino side right on time. We started with the orange & white scallops. So good! The special was wolffish with pesto & it was fresh & clean tasting. The brussel sprouts were a standout, too. Our server was nice enough, but definitely could have been more attentive. She did not check in with us very often to make sure we were all good. Wine selection is nothing like the wine list on the website. Mainly consists of old grocery store standards like Coppola's. 4. Looking for new places to frequent, after we had ordered, staff refused to share the menu of the co-located sister restaurant Copper Cellar. Claimed that other patrons would suspect she was "illicitly" ordering off that menu in violation of their practices. Now really! That is just silly! Has anybody noticed that businesses no longer prioritize catering to customers? Seeing more and more almost haughty or imperious customer service these days. Service is good. Table bread is good. The rest is consistently bad. I had the lasagna with bolognese sauce which was supposed to a popular menu item. But it was so gross. It came out watery, flavorless and the noodles were undercooked. And it was huge. A huge plate of yuck. My dinner date ordered a prime rib sandwich and we were horrified at the slice of fat that was served in the sandwich. There was like 15 ounces of fat and 1 ounce of beef in the cut of meat. Who runs the kitchen, man? I would be embarrassed to serve this in a sandwich. It's too bad. The interior is gorgeous. And the wine isn't half bad. No way I'll come back. Cappuccinos / Copper Cellar is a classic in Knoxville. This restaurant is unique because it really is two restaurants in one. One side is Copper Cellar and one is Cappuccinos. You can order from the menu of either restaurant regardless of which side you choose to visit. Anyway, they've been around for probably 40 years now. So, like me, you may wonder if it's still relevant today. Are they past their prime or still good as ever? Well, in my experience, I like Cappuccinos. They have seasonal menus that rotate the various options. Also, they've kept up with trends, the restaurant interior is really beautiful and modern, and they have great options. That said, I usually don't order pasta when I go out. So, even at an Italian place like this, I typically order one of the other options. In this case, I ordered the pork chop topped with cooked peaches and goat cheese. Also, I had the watermelon radish salad (oddly, it's not a watermelon & radish; but radish variety called watermelon radish). My wife had the roasted pear and goat cheese salad. Everything was great. Service was excellent. I'd recommend Cappuccinos for dates, family gatherings, or business meetings. It's a step above the chain restaurants but not as fancy as formal options that require a coat and tie. Probably not the best option for small kids -- but not many $20-30/entree restaurants will be. Finally, they have gluten-free pasta and other options for people with allergies. Overall: Recommended. read more

Excellent! Tonight I tried this place for the first time to celebrate my birthday and was blown away. I can't believe I've lived in Knoxville my whole life and haven't eaten here until tonight. Everything we ordered was very well prepared and fresh, even down to the bread! The portion sizes are large and we all finished our meals with plenty to take home for leftovers. I've been here a number of times with family, and while the ambiance is very nice, the service and food (given the price) is only OK. I most recently grabbed dinner here a couple of days before Christmas (for my mother's birthday). There's plenty of parking available, which is always appreciated, and we were quickly seated upon arrival. Our server was competent but she rubbed me the wrong way somehow - nothing too serious, but just had a slightly irritating way of speaking to us. Our table bread and butter was tasty, but I didn't love my entree (a steak). I think it was something like $28, which seems pretty pricey for Knoxville. That being said, no one else seemed to have a problem with their food, so maybe I'm just being picky :) On the drink side of things, the mixed drinks we ordered were quite weak, so people were a bit disappointed by that. As mentioned above, the ambiance is cool - interesting lights and a nice interior decor. I'm sure my family will be back sometime soon, but I hope we get a different server, and I'll probably order a different (cheaper) dish :) read more

The interior is so funny to me, it feels very spaghetti western (Italian restaurant with cow hide decor) However, it's charming and the food is absolutely delicious. The 1 star is for the gnudi bolognese & bone marrow. The service, for a half empty restaurant, was slow enough to allow naps between visits. But I'm ahead of myself. We almost walked out before ordering. I asked for the wine list & suggestion for a red blend. The server pointed to a list of 5 reds by the glass - ok, only 5??? A bottle might be good... but every thing reasonably priced (less than $100) I could get at a grocery store. I expressed my concern & was shown the actual Cappuccino wine list - not Copper Cellar. As I stated, the marrow was wonderful - probably the best part of the meal. The gnudi bolognese was 'new' to me & I enjoyed it. Now the issues - we were teased with bread, but never received any. There was NO offer of pepper for our salad. NO offer of cheese for our pasta. The final blow was the check being delivered with NO offer of dessert or even a CAPPUCCINO!!! The check was also incorrect with the appetizer and salad added to the bill without wine (to make it even). Unless you have hours to waste - don't go to Cappuccino. read more

Brunch was amazing Greeted warmly, the hostess was quick to find seating for us despite being a large party without a reservation. Our attentive server, Matthew, was awesome. My water glass was never empty! He complimented our boys' behavior. The buffet begins with a choice of regular or chocolate waffles with every topping imaginable. If you enjoy eggs, there is everything from scrambled eggs, to quiche to an omelet station. A salmon lover, I was happy to see salmon and cream cheese with croissants and even as an option on the fluffy omelet made-to-order for me. There was also a carving station and several options suitable for lunch that I did not try. The desserts. Oh, the desserts. I was so full after brunch that I barely had room.
