We had a really outstanding experience. Although we were one of a handful of tables, our server Eric, was extremely accommodating. The food presentation and flavor was incredible. My husband got the filet and while it was fork cutting tenderness, there was a complimentary blue cheese sauce that completed the dish!! My mushroom ravioli was out of this world. Our friend's grouper was probably the least exciting dish although the most expensive, which I didn't think was justified. But still great presentation. Top notch place, decor and meal!!!! read more

Ummm.... this place is SO good. 1. Definitely looks like a strip club from the outside 2. Don't grab a drink at the bar before dinner-- it's to the left when you walk in on the Copper Cellar side. The copper cellar side of the restaurant feels really sketchy. 3. The bread and olive oil (with garlic, spices, Parmesan cheese, and other things I never knew I needed in my life until now) is so good... I might have used the rest of my calorie intake for the rest of 2019 but it was worth it. 4. I had the eggplant special appetizer and the mushroom ravioli and it was absolutely one of the best meals i have had in Knoxville. 5. Our waitress seemed so genuinely happy to be there. She also brought us 3 baskets of bread = angel. My hopes really weren't that high for this place but I decided to try it and I am so glad I did. I will absolutely be back! read more

Everything about this was wonderful! Ambiance, service off the chart, food was delicious...extra wonderful with a beautiful presentation. Only one reason this place is not a 5. When we asked them to box up our dinner...they brought us the box and we had to box it up ourselves at the table. I hope my score is not overly harsh, but a restaurant of this caliber should take the plates to the kitchen and box it for you. Other than that I love it. The lasagne was delicious but it smells weird. Like old or moldy and dirty. I couldn't put my finger on it but it was not appetizing.

Server was so rude. Had a group of 9 people order lots of drinks and food. Toward the end the server was visibly annoyed for some reason. I take great pride in attempting to write comprehensive reviews on yelp, giving both praise and criticism when it is due. Unfortunately, today it is going to be mostly criticism. Before I get into the bad, I want to start off by saying that the wait staff is wonderful. They are informational, attentive and friendly. But the food... the food was some of the blandest I've experienced. Beautiful presentation, big portions... but no flavor. I ordered the ricotta and bolognese with a salad. The salad was mediocre, but the bolognese was some of the worst I've ever tasted. And perhaps that's not even the right way to phrase it because it honestly had no taste at all. My husband had the "filet" which turned out to be more of a "second-rate over sauced sirloin" (his words). He was rather disappointed until he sampled my dish. He then decided he was the luckier of the two of us. I've tried other restaurants in this chain- like Calhouns for instance- which I'd equate to an Applebee's like taste/menu. But it's acceptable and leaves me satisfied. Sadly I cannot say the same for Cappuccino's. PS: Be warned, the heart symbol on the menu does not mean "healthy option" it means "chefs favorite." All of the food was good. You can order from the copper cellar side as well which was nice so that one of us could order prime rib. The only thing I would not recommend is the chicken caprese. The server tried to explain it to me which I was thankful for and should have ordered something else, but I decided not to. The dish is a traditional caprese (cold tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, balsamic) with whole filets of chicken added into the salad. I did not enjoy it because the rest of the meal quickly made the chicken cold. The eggplant Parmesan and chicken Marsala were very good. read more

Lovely restaurant that you'd likely never try, simply because it's packed in with all of the businesses along Kingston Pike and might miss it. FIND IT!!! This is a duo style restaurant with the long-time standing Copper Cellar on one side (nice menu & ambiance as well) and the new redesigned Cappuccino's on the other side. Lucky for all of us, they share a bar & kitchen, so you can actually indulge in anything under the roof in one visit! Ok, Cappuccino's...brick walls, beams overhead, bottles dangle with dim lights inside, leather and cowhide chairs, intimate booths, and Italian music (like, real music, not just "when the moon hits your eye...") that transports you to somewhere else. Italy, perhaps? Then you meet your "gondolier" for the evening. The two servers we have spoken with have been accommodating, engaging, informative, and warm. There is no rush here, it's an experience...savor it. The food, get ready! My husband is completely enamored with the oysters and we both enjoyed the Caprese. I had to try the meatballs when I found out they were pork-free. They are actually 100% ground turkey. Different. Probably won't order again, but they weren't terrible. My husband would disagree and offer a stiff warning if you're considering them. As we have been twice, for entrees we have had - Quail special (he loved it!!!), Spicy Shrimp Pasta w gluten-free pasta (he also loved it!!!), Lasagna (decadent, melted in my mouth!!!), and Filet Mignon (slightly overcooked for medium, but still tasty!). Unfortunately, the only pictures I have are of 2 entrees. For dessert we have tried the gluten-free chocolate cake/tort (AMAZING!), cannoli (one of the best I've ever had!), and the lemon cake (yummy). We also met the new chef, Frank. He seems to really care about the food he/his kitchen serves and isn't looking to compete with the standard Italian chain restaurants, his vision is authentic (seen in his sauces) and yet new presentations (seen in his pairings). Bottom line...it's a pricey experience but so worth the occasional splurge. And guys, think romantic date - hold the door, pull out the chair, go for the bottle of wine, take each course one at a time, and when it comes time for dessert, don't forget the house made limoncello. read more

We had dinner at Cappuccino's tonight for the first time and it was a stellar experience all around! We arrived just on time for our reservation and they brought us straight to a table that had already been prepared. The service was prompt and wonderful, and the food was amazing! We could have sat there all evening and ate the bread with spiced olive oil because it was just that good. Our bill was not even as high as I expected, as the ambience of this place is spectacular and the food is delicious. The servers were all very hospitable and pleasant, and the manager was even making rounds to ensure that everyone was having a nice meal. We are already making plans to go back to Cappuccino's! read more

Very confusing sharing a building with copper cellar. made a reservation for cappuccinos, went to the hostess and she said we didn't have one then seated us in copper cellar. ended up switching over to the cappuccino side of the building after we figured it out. very good food and drinks. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Thursday evening and was one of the first tables seated. As can be seen from the Gary's pics the dining room ambiance is quite nice. The first thing I noticed was that they filter their tap water (for those outside of Knox County: the water here is virtually undrinkable due to the odor and taste of chlorine and it's amazing how many restaurants here do not filter!) We began with the Caprese Salad which was very nicely done with roasted grape tomatoes. Probably the best presentation I've ever had of this dish as the roasting brought out a great flavor from the tomatoes. The olive oil and tapenade served with the bread was wonderful (I can't speak to the quality of the bread as I must avoid gluten). Absolutely no bitterness in the oil or tapenade; I found myself eating the oil by the teaspoonful! For dinner I ordered the special of the day which was a prosciutto-wrapped quail on a bed of risotto with portabellas. Dessert was a chocolate, flourless cake; the BEST rendition of this item that I've ever had!! I would have NEVER guessed it was flourless. Overall, the service by Nate was EXCEPTIONAL*****. It was evident that the chef is a skilled saucier as the flavors of all of the items served were accentuated by the sauces alongside them; this was a case of 1+1=10. It is rare that I have a dining experience where the sauce makes the whole dish just *POP*--in this case every course was perfectly accentuated, presented, and prepared! To top it off, we, along with every other table, received table touches by the GM, Mgr, and Chef. It was obvious that the entire staff is genuinely interested in providing an outstanding dining experience. I left the place with absolutely no complaints. OUTSTANDING job!! When you take the time to make reservations for seven people at 7pm, for your daughter's bday dinner. You are asked if you want a table or a booth - ARRIVE to find a mostly empty restaurant w/ a snotty hostess that doesn't have a table ready for your party - asks if these two four tops will do, SAYS you can pull them together if you want to --- allows you to pull them together without helping. Her attitude stunk and it put us in an ugly mood. Well that just sets the tone for a lousy review doesn't it. read more

Actually stopped in to go to Copper Cellar, but my companions decided they wanted Italian instead. What a great decision that turned out to be! Some people don't understand northern Italian versus regular Italian...this restaurant was spot on with the grilled dishes we had and even made a couple of accommodations for us. Bread with olive tapenade was a good starter with the Meatballs. We started with a house salad with roasted peppers that was delicious, and for our first course we had the mushroom ravioli. Wonderful with the sherry cream sauce and for secondi we had the Veal Cappucino and Shrimp with squid ink pasta. Both were on point and great. For dessert we had the tiramisu which was one of the best I've ever had. I might would give 4.5 stars since the veal was a little chewy, but the service was impeccable and every wish we had was taken care of. read more

I've been twice now in 2 weeks. Ate in by myself and ordered the veal piccata. I did get great service as I was by myself and was quickly offered a second glass of wine when the same came. I was not refilled on my water, though. The piccata was good but a bit salty even with the capers. I'm not sure it was worth the $25 price with no salad or side included. I went back a second time to for take out of spaghetti and meatballs. Very good with 3 huge meatballs but not enough pasta. read more

Cappuccino's This meal was a sponsored wine dinner for 40 people. As such, it is a test for the skill of the kitchen and the planning and coordination between the front and back of the house. While it does not represent the full menu, it does reveal what the kitchen can do with a set menu and covers. Service was adequate, albeit a bit slow due to the kitchen and limited servers (3). There were a limited number of wine glasses, so patrons were encouraged not to linger over the wine This was advertised as a Tuscan Wine Dinner. The appetizer was Mama's secret recipe meatball, a tennis ball size serving of well texture, mildly flavored meat, typical of Southern-Italian American fare, not Tuscan. Nothing special, and it could well have been a commercially made product; there was nothing to indicate it was inhouse made. The tomato sauce was under reduced and a bit watery. The poached pear salad was overly sweet from the honey poaching and dressing. The candied pecans were all sugared and tasted not at all like nuts. Far from refreshing and palate cleaning, it was cloying and near numbing. The secondo was veal saltimbocca, a Roman dish. In this mis incarnation it was two commercially made compressed veal patties (the same that appear in many "Italian" restaurants as Veal Parmigiana) with some prosciutto, perhaps a leaf of sage, served over a rice mush that was billed as risotto and covered with gloopy melted cheese, neither of which EVER accompany saltimbocca It was barely edible. The Tiramisu wasn't. The disintegrated lady fingers were drowned in an overly sweet, saucy white concoction. Texture less, no distinct flavors, carelessly prepared. A fitting ending to the meal. If this is the best the restaurant can do with a set menu and know number of guests, I can not imagine a reason to patronize. read more

After a play Sunday afternoon my wife suggested that we try the redone Cappuccinos. We heard that they had a new menu and I think a new chef. We could not be more pleased with the choice. First of all I am very hard to please being full blooded Italian. The atmosphere was just right and the remodel was in our opinion done just right. We were encouraged first by the server who was attentive, relaxed and was very informed. He impressed me with his "correct pronunciation of Gnocchi" which has never occurred in my 32 years in Knoxville. He also was aware of he origin of the term Putanesca sauce which i will leave you to find on your own. The meal was creative, delicious and the presentation was very much in line. The prices are on the high side so this might not be an every week stop for everyone but it should be at least a once a month or more stop and without doubt the venue for a special occasion. I think I liked the fact the the tradition of being to select from both menus, Copper Cellar and Cappuccino's, has been dropped. Having a steak and potato dinner mixed with the beautiful Italian dishes at the same table would be almost a crime. This is by far the best local Italian restaurant in the area. Noticed a billboard on Kingston Pike for this place and thought we'd check it out. We started with warm Italian bread with tapenade (an olive spread) in olive oil - very nice. I had caprese salad (6 half slices of tomato each with small piece of mozzarella and basil) - a bit skimpy for the price but tasty. I'd bet they had a basil plant because it was as fresh as can be. My husband had the caesar salad (not your typical caesar salad - more like a deconstructed salad- breaded fried anchovy on top, hard boiled egg on the side, odd addition of golden raisins was a nice touch) and it was really good. For our main course, I had linguine with alfredo sauce and meatballs. Alfredo was delicious, creamy and buttery. I would have preferred more cheese but that was just my personal preference. Surprisingly, the meatballs were turkey - not the typical beef, pork and/or veal - and were really nice and the marinara sauce tasted just like my mothers (an Italian and a great cook!). My husband had veal marsala. The veal medallions were very tender and went great with the spinach. For desert he had a lemon cream cake that he loved. I had a cannoli and that was the only low point in the meal. Assuming they are made to order, I think someone simply forgot to add sugar to the cheese filling. The shell was fresh and crisp but the filling was virtually tasteless. I enjoyed the few bites on the end with the mini chocolate chips and left the rest. We decided we would absolutely go there again but, given the high prices, not very often. read more

Tried this restaurant again after a few years after a friend shared a post on a foodie FB page. I will say the Hooters wings were delicious, because that is where we ended up after the appetizers and all 4 of us found our dishes very below par. Arancini should never be made with basmati rice, the eggplant roulette was tough and chewy. The veal parmigiana's breading peeled off as if the flour before egg step was skipped or it was old and had been frozen or sat a while too long. The cache e pepe should be two ingredients cheese and pepper is was closer to a jar alfredo sauce and no fresh pepper. The mushroom ravioli could have started a fire if we had dropped a match due to the alcohol in the dish. The pasta which was touted as fresh made was a blob of chewy mush. The restaurant had an order of bathroom cleaner. The manager that came to our table was excellent and very professional. She handled the situation with poise and grace read more

If I could rate this restaurant with zero stars, I would. Cappuccino's was recently recommended to me by a coworker who said they have amazing spaghetti & meatballs. With my son's 19th birthday being tomorrow and that being one of his favorite meals, we decided that's where we'd go to celebrate his birthday with a few of his friends (7 friends to be exact). From the time we walked in, I could sense that maybe we weren't welcome but I thought surely I was being paranoid. I'd made reservations earlier in the day for 8pm and we were seated fairly promptly. Our server did not greet us until around 8:15 or so and we did not even receive any water until 8:20. The restaurant was moderately busy so I was trying to be patient. However, as time went on I realized that every single other table had at least two servers tending to them while they all walked past us as if we were invisible. Our server, I believe his name was Eric never even offered to take our order. By 8:40, my patience ran out and I decided this was not a place I wanted to spend any money whatsoever. I told the server we were leaving and he said "ok, have a great night!" I have never in my life been treated in such a manner as we were in there tonight. I will NEVER step foot in there again. I forgot to mention that all of my son's friends were African American. Management along with every server in the place made it painfully obvious that our group was simply not welcome. The district manager did offer gift cards after I was nearly in tears over the disgust and anger I felt at such blatant disrespect but it hardly compensated for an evening they will never forget and a reminder that racism is alive and well.
