A whole in the wall for some easy pressed bakery bread roll with butter and coffee. It may not look like much but there's a small line waiting on the inside

Thank you, Capri Bakery you did such a wonderful job. I had my father's 92 birthday celebration yesterday Sunday and everyone ate this beautiful cake. They said it was so tasty and moist and delicious. Thank you so much for your hard work and consistency akeeping your cakes so delicious! The staff at the store are very pleasant and hard-working.

Today 12/21 is my birthday and I ordered a small the tres leche birthday cake the day prior on 12/20. I was asked to pick up the cake at 1pm the following day. Upon arrival the line was out the door and we patiently waited 40 minutes on the line. Upon getting to the front of the line, we waited an additional 15 minutes for a cake that was not ready. After the cake was brought out it was incorrectly made. We asked cashier for a refund and were told "we would have to return the following day to speak with Herman the Manager". The cashier reported they would correct the mistake in a few minutes. After clearly identifying what the cake topping should look like, by using one of their cakes as an example. It appeared things would be different and the cake was taken into the back to be corrected. The cake returned no longer chocolate mousse, but vanilla and missing the handwritten happy birthday. Infuriated, I was met with condescension and unprofessionalism. There's a clear language barrier and comprehension issue with the staff. The staff were moving around customers in the cramped space, not saying excuse me as they accessed their refrigerators which are located in the cramped storefront. I was hit with a refrigerator door several times as they assisted other patrons. Not one person said excuse me or acknowledged the proximity of closeness to customers. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, the 3rd cake was brought from the back to the front counter and finally resembled the original order. After packaging the cake for me to take home, the cashier asked for my only receipt. I asked for my original receipt to be returned to me. The cashier refused to provide the receipt stating I should take a photo with my phone. I firmly stood on receiving my receipt which was reluctantly provided. Unsure if they did "something" to the cake as I am rightfully skeptical and due to the poor customer service, I will not be eating the cake. To the cashiers, thanks for making sure you spoke Spanish and excluded me and other non Spanish speaking customers from your conversations. This does not have to be the standard of customer service. I would like to highlight I was serviced by Andrea the day before on 12/19 for a cake for a work party on 12/20 and the customer service was A1! To the manager Herman, you must do better with your staff. Additionally, you ruined my birthday cake and provided the worse customer service I have received in NYC for many years, which is Not Easy. Don't shop here unless you can speak the language or deal with incompetence. The service is terrible which sucks because the bakery does have good products. I added a photo of one of the incorrect cakes, the original receipt, and the store and staff today.

My wedding cake was ruined. The cake I ordered was to have edible flowers and the cake itself was to be blue and white with gold acccents. The day of my wedding I pick up my cake and I'm met with a cake that had plastic flowers on top like what you see on your grandmothers dining room table. Because I was crunched for time I couldn't even stay and argue. I get to the venue and the whole cake has fallen to one side because there weren't those stick things in it to keep it stable. We had to cover the front with fake rose petals to cover it up. The service could definitely be better. They cater to their hispanic clientale and the rest of us are basically ignored.

Capri Bakery was my destination today come hell or high water. I saw people waiting outside and then asked the man if he was waiting to go inside. He said they only allow four at a time as the space is small. After speaking to him I saw the sign on the door. I waited patiently taking photos of the beautiful cakes in the windows. When it was my turn to go inside I was overwhelmed by the choices. I decided on the small piece of cornbread. When I got to the counter I said I wanted a small piece of cornbread. I was charged $2.50 and I left. When I felt the bag it was really heavy and grease started coming through. I decided to go to the park and eat it right away. The piece was huge and very juicy and sweet. Naturally I ate the whole thing. I was glad I can cross Capri off my to go list. If I return I will try the strawberry cheesecake. The cupcakes look good too. Needless to say I won't be eating lunch today! If you visit Capri be prepared to wait in line. Also make it clear what you want. I should have told her by pointing to the item in the showcase. I have a feeling the small piece would not have been so sweet. Four Stars for cleanliness, organized set up, lots of selections, and very reasonable price.

Really upset and disappointed with this bakery. First time for me to use them and they are very popular in Harlem. I placed my order for a my sons 4th birthday. Set pick up time for 10am on Sunday and I showed up later around 11:20. Waited patiently in line for 10 minutes then another 6 minutes after providing my cake receipt, totally fine. Cake was very beautiful on the outside and exactly as I requested. My son wanted and that paper said chocolate cake with vanilla cream. I got a vanilla cake with vanilla custard inside....embarrassing for me when I tell my guest and son it's chocolate and it's not. I was going to return here for cupcakes because my sons actual birthday is on September 30th, but I will be going to a place that can deliver exactly what I want and pay for Oh here's a picture of my sons non chocolate cake

Little bakery with amazing flavor ! No tables or chairs, you need to do a line and everything Is to go. Gets very crowded during day and night. Cakes and more cakes ! Food * cheesecake - 5 of 5! Came here to day picked up some cakes and a flan the flan tasted disguising and the 3s leche was dry as hell. Never had such a dry cake. Also picked up a quisito shit was hard too.

Sold me a $150 ( burnt cake ) with a straight face. The cake was extra crispy to the point where you can see that it was BLACK. The outside was pretty but it was not edible. I live in another borough and did not feel the need to go there to argue with them. They Ruined my daughter's birthday.

THIS IS A LONG POST BUT VERY NECESSARY ONE. Ok now I would love to have given this business 5 starts but I just cannot. The cake was amazing and absolutely beautiful. However, my in house experience just was not as amazing. So on Aug 3 I went to the location 116th with my sister. A girl named Anais took my order. As we was completing the order my sister gave Anais the whole $220 which covered the cost of the cake. My sister wanted to smoke so she left the store. Anais took the money and had it alllllll around the counter and the table. Oppose to her "intelligent" self placing the money into the register after receiving it she continued to leave it out in the open. Me and her completed everything and I took a step back to leave and accidentally stepped on a man. So I turn around and apologize because I'm thinking I bumped into a customer by mistake but nope. I bumped into one of the neighborhoods usual crackheads. She tells me I forgot my receipt so I turn back around to grab it and while doing so the man ask me for $20. So I looked at him and asked him straight up" did you lose your MFing mind get the f out my face." Like the audacity. And while the whole time this is occurring Anais STILLLLL did not put the money in the register but left it on the top counter where the cakes are. So the man reached around me and grabbed the money and ran out of the store. I ran out behind him to see where did he go. People in the area knew him so I gathered information about him to provide to the store. I go back into the store to get my receipt and Anais is basically like no. And now I'm looking at her like she lost her mind. This human tells me I should had stopped the man. Now I totally lose it and go ham to the point my sister comes in and we about to drag her from behind the counter. A small lady comes out I'm assuming she was the supervisor on duty. She asked if I can at least call the cops for them. Now the nice person I am I call the police AND WAITED until they came to provide all information I had. The supervisor gave me my receipt and told me I will get my cake. I know I was going to or ima need my funds back. I told the officer everything and he said that it was not my problem (which I knew) because the business was in possession of the money. The officer also stated he surprised I even stayed to speak with them and I'm like I'm really a nice person and I do feel bad for the business but Anais needs to be let go or re train because she is a special kind of human. She was so smart. You see behind me. So you saw this man behind me up to no good and you said nothing.. then when he steals from you you expect for me to become a security for your store and stop this man and get the money while you stand behind the counter looking special ABSOLUTELY NOT. As I'm writing this post I'm getting upset all over again. Like I said to Anais I will say again here. 116 is the slums. If you don't know how to work in the slums then you need another job somewhere else. I can't believe I traveled all the way over to this place just to have such experience. I just want to thank the supervisor again for ensuring my son's cake was as beautiful as it was and for stepping in before I had to show her very special employee a very special time....

Great bakery. The taste and designs are amazing! A go to for birthday cakes for kids and adults.

In the center of East Harlem You'll find this bakery full of culture variety treats. The bakery has been here for a a while. Is convenient and the only spot with so much to offer from coffee, cakes, sandwiches, donuts, bread, etc . The cakes are good notting out of the ordinary. Good for special occasions but you have to make sure to be on top of them. The staff is some what efficient when taking orders, I got a orange juice instead of the passion fruit juice, so upset when I paid $3 dollars for it. The rice pudding and the fruit cakes are really good if you lucky to get them fresh. The cheese cake is always pretty good. The spot hit the spot when you looking for some cravings with out having to spend a fortune. Overall not bad that's where my 3 stars come from. Oh yeah . read more

I should have known from the cakes that are displayed in the window that the service was not going to be what it once was. Not to mention someone was very unhappy about their cake order when I came in to order. I showed the woman at the counter the picture listed below and she hair yes we can do this for you but it will be $300. I said ok and proceeded with the transaction and process. I am very unsatisfied with this cake not to mention there was a fly trapped in the box. This is absolutely unacceptable! Never again! read more

Overrated. The first time I was there, their cake was creamy and delicious. The second time I stopped by to pick up a red velvet cake. I even asked the lady for one that's recently made. She even ensure me that everything is still good. I bought a $25 cake to feed 5 people and two donuts for myself for the bus ride home. To my surprise after 15mins leaving the bakery, the cake melted. She probably gave me a cake that's already weeping because it was not like this the first time... when it took me 40 mins to walk home. And the donuts are dry and hard. The cake was terribly sweet... Even the sweet tooth birthday boy was complaining that it was disgustingly sweet. I will give it another chance because the first cake I had was amazing(not red velvet). Back in the day I will say that this place was amazing, but last night I had my son go pick up two sandwiches, one Cuban with the fries & a regular steak, but when he came home & gave me the total something was off. I looked again at their online menu and checked their Facebook menu as well and the pricing is different, on top of the fact that the food was poorly made and there was barely any meat on either sandwich. This morning, I called & got the owner who was absolutely rude & disgusting on how he speaks to customers. I started with the pricing & his answer was that his web guy has not made the changes, well not my fault, second I mentioned the quality of the food & asked how he would make me whole & he asked what I would like & I said to have my food remade & his answer was that I would not go to Publix & do that & he would not do it & that all I wanted was free food, just bad business & obviously does not care for his customers. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB because you can't advertise one price in one place & then charge something different. This man needs to take a class in customer service because he has no class & clearly does not know how to speak to people. I have tons of family & friends that live near this location & I will be sure to let them know to never go back to them & to pass the word along of ripping people off with incorrect pricing & the quality of food & service. Anyone reading if you ever want a good sandwich with correct pricing & stuffed go to Don Ramons, Havana or Tulipan, they will always treat you with respect & the quality will always be amazing. read more

Good cakes and fast service despite being cramped into a pretty small shop space. Very convenient to pick something up quickly. Thoroughly impressed by their ability to pipe out frosting messages on even their smallest cakes, either on top despite all the fruit/chocolate on too or along the sides of the cakes. Capri is one of the best bakery's in east Harlem. You can smell the bakery from a block away. Every item that they carry is delicious. They bake everything fresh and daily. You can get a Cuban sandwich there as well. Very reasonable prices. I've ordered Birthday cakes from them a couple times and they was no cake left ( the crowd demolished it) definitely a place you should try! read more

I use to go to Valencia's on 103rd Lexington Avenue. Nevertheless, the last time I purchased a cake from them, my brother said it was dry. So, I heard great things about this place. I decided to give it a try-run. The last thing you want to do, is try out a new place with a special event coming up. Even though Thanksgiving is cancelled due to Covid-19 and really because of religious reasons. I went to purchase a nice autumn cake. I love the Fall one my favorite times of the year. I saw the cake I wanted and the price was right. So, I said give me that one put on it FALL FAMILY, in Orange frosting. I thought of it, just then. Right in the store. She goes to the back and come back. And she has WHITE frosting. I says thyself. I know she heard me, she nodded before she left. And I noticed she was different when she got back. I did not say a word you know why? Because I have no tolerance for people who want to do Satan's bidding. Now, I know when people sin against you, a believer is suppose to pray for that individual. Nonetheless, I thought to myself what if I jump over the counter and wear her out! Who's going to pray for me? All in all I like the place. It's clean with nice size portions and priced right. All she had to do to get five stars instead of four, from me was to just give me what I ordered. Sometimes people get in their head about stuff and then fail at customer satisfaction. I don't know what she was thinking but for some reason. She couldn't write what I wrote down on the paper in ORANGE. Ultimately, I had to purchase my own. read more

This lady got her cake order WRONG and then all 3 of the workers were helping her withh it. Sure thats fine, whatever. But then they have my sandwich cooking and leave it burnt. Being the nice person I dont complain. It was for my father who uses dentures and I think he can't eat burnt bread. It's whatever. I ordered a plain bread and got that at least nice and NONE burnt. Then i pay them and then she's supposed to give me MY CHANGE. She goes to the next costumer. What is your problem. And they wanted to charge this lady to fix the cake THEY messed up read more

This place is horrible with customer service. I ordered my cake 2 months with a specific time to be ready..... after standing outside on line( as per covid) theres still a long line in the store. With no explanation, they say my cake is not ready... first I hear 10min.... when the 10min passed. They said 15more because "its not ready" what!?!?! Why!?!? Why is my cake not ready its passed the time that I asked for it to be, so almost 1hr and 15min later its ready.... ive waited around all this time.... i should be offered some kind of partial refund. Dont bother offering store credit because I'LL NEVER BE BACK HERE EVER!!!! read more

When I say I looooved this place. I truly did. Loved the bread also the baked goods. Until one day, I walk in and I assure you that the roaches where literally doing sit ups and push ups on the bread. It was unfreaking believable. I don't know what these health inspectors are inspecting but it's not the cleanliness of these locations SERIOUSLY...I never ever have been back. read more

Though the pastries and cake is delicious. The customer service is the absolute worst. They don't answer the phone for orders even when open.I had a lady finally pick up just to tell yell at me and say to call back but yet the store hours say they V are open already. I called three days straight to get no one prior. I get coviid but bad customer service is horrible for businesses in this climate. read more

Capri's cakes are good, but their customer service is terrible. The few times I've been here, they have all but ignored me while I have had to flag them down. I'm a 6' tall woman so I'm pretty sure they saw me. Just didn't feel like serving me. Be careful of Gringo prices, especially if you don't speak Spanish. They tried to charge me $85 for a basic sheet cake! Honey, please. I work for my money. There has got to be a decent baker in the area that charges fair prices and treats customers better. read more

I go in for two slices of cake total of 9.00. Some how I get overcharged by $50 on my debit card. The woman attitude was so nonchalant, oh I wasn't paying attention,don't worry its gonna come back. Yes in 3 to 5 business days. Their attitude towards customers needs great improvement. I won't be returning. read more

Capri Bakery is a Latin bakery located in Spanish Harlem. I say "Latin" because the people running the bakery range from Cuban to Venezuelan to Mexican to Dominican to Ecuadorian. It's not a singular entity but rather a bakery with ties to American treats and Latin treats. You can get a glazed doughnut and cakes here as well as pasteles de queso y pasteles de quayaba. I was attracted to the place by the pasteles de queso and the promise of decent cafe. The pasteles de queso didn't taste like any pastel that I've tried at Cuban bakeries in Miami, but it still tasted pretty good and the cafe really hit the spot. I recommend dunking any of their little pastries into the cafe for a guilty pleasure. They take Visa and Mastercard, but there is a $10 minimum purchase for your information. read more

We caught this place as soon as it was closing and was able to get some late night sweets. Its very small and three of us were the right amount of customers to pick out our sweet, pay, and leave. Although the food is really good, it was too sweet for my stomache. I loved the cheesecake but this cheesecake didn't even last long until I realize, not all cheesecake is my friend. Street parking, but what do you expect from NYC. read more

I've been getting cakes from here since I was 9 years old. Loved it then and I still love it now. You can tell these bakers bake with love. They work hard at what they do! Yes the shop itself is not big at all. Not that spacious when it's more than 5 people inside but hey, if it's crowded it just might be worth the wait. And with Capri bakery it usually is! My 19th birthday cake is the sheet one and that was about 75 dollars. It had cheetah print design and a tiara and scepter. It had buttercream flavor in the middle. That's my favorite flavor! It's the freaking best. Yall have got to try it! My 20th birthday cake was french vanilla with sprinkles. And that's an all time favorite of mine as well. However I love buttercream just a tad bit more but with either flavors you can't lose! You haven't had cake until you tried Capri's Bakery! read more

Flan - too cake-like and not enough pudding-like. Looks pretty tho Tres leches - too dry and the milk too sweet Cheese cake - drenched in red syrup The desserts are not bad quality but I have had better tasting flan, tres leches, and cheese cake. Was a little disappointing :( but the price is great. Didn't try the cakes. They seemed to be very popular. Lots of special orders. May be worth it to try next time. read more

The oreo cookie cake and napoleon were classic, towering, diner-esque pieces of fluffy, sweet deliciousness and the girl behind the counter served it up with a smile. What more can I ask for with my $6? Also serving coffee, lots of options for cake slices, cookies, iced and personalized cakes, etc. Wish they were around the corner from me instead of my friend's house... but on the other hand, my tooth enamel and waistline are probably better off this way :( read more

I had the worst experience in my life with this bakery . I never thought it was going to be furious, disappointed ,sad . First my cake was supposed to be done by 2pm I got there at 2:45 pm my cake was not ready ; they made me wait for 15 more minutes to gave me something I never asked . I payed $220 for this cake . They told me the person who was doing the cake was not in at the bakery at the moment so if I want it to chance the I had to wait an hour. Been here twice recently. The Elephant ears were good but a little too sticky/syrupy. The Flan was good but heavy. Last night went and picked up a red velvet cake. It was dry and overall very mediocre. I expected more from this place as it is always packed. read more

The good: I ordered a 15" tres leches for pick up on Thanksgiving morning. The cake was ready, fresh, and very tasty. It was moist, the fruit on top was high quality, and our guests loved it. Very filling and even heavy. Not super cheap (around $30) but definitely worth it - it fed the whole party. The bad: The place has a tiny customer area, which gets jam packed with poor line management. It's confusing which cakes are which, as they aren't labeled and English isn't always a first language. I basically had to fight to get my order in and picked up. Overall, I heartily recommend their products, if you can find a way around the line (or lack thereof). read more

Great cakes and they are really nice and professional. The Bustelo coffee is everything. Pair it with a toasted bagel with butter or bread. If you want iced coffee they do that also. Ive had a fee cakes made from here and they never disappoint. read more

So jan 20 2023 i came into this bakery and order a cake because they come highly recommend. so i come in the next day to pick up my cake for the lady to tell me someone came in with a receipt and they gave them my cake but i was confused because i had the receipt that they gave me to come pick the cake up. So i got very upset she was being very rude not explaining anything then when i kept asking her question about the cake she just kept ignoring me and being very rude and just kept taking other customer then she bring me a Hennessy cake for my three year old that suppose to be dinosaur cake so i told her that was not my cake it suppose to be dinosaur cake so then she then tell me that my cake was in the wrong spot and that it wasn't her problem that my cake was lost this was the worst experience that i could go through on the day of my son party i do not recommend that anyone go here unless you want your cake messed up read more

this is the worst bakery, do not be fooled by the pretty display out side, thier cuban sandwiches are disgusting, made with old meat, that they spray some liquid, before they heat them up. it was horrible. the cakes are never made to your specifications. they write the specifics down, and you end up with a cake of another color, different decoration, dirty plastic flowers from the 99ct store on your cake. it is the worse. once upon a time it was worth taking a trip to order from them. now it would be a big disappointment. read more

Fantastic prices on custom cakes! The dulce de leche cake was fantastic and the decoration was exactly what I ordered. Staff was helpful when i placed the order and helped me decide the size of cake that I needed. They bake their cakes fresh everyday so everything is fresh. Delicious traditional latin pasteries like flan, coquitos& pastel de guayava. I love their Spanish coffee served with hot milk. And the loaves of Cuban bread are good too! This bakery gets packed with people in the morning and on weekends so be prepared to wait a few minutes before they can help you. Well worth wait. read more

The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.

It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

Horrible Experience at this bakery. The female staff workers there are so RUDE and know NOTHING about Customer Service. They yell at customers and berate their customers. The line there is always long and after waiting they do not make you feel appreciated. Some of them behave as if they want to jump over the counter and fight you for no reason..no class and LOW class. They need to hire better staff at this bakery. read more
