Visit 1: Mani/pedi. Pretty standard, nothing special. Disappointed with selection of colors available. ATM wouldn't take my card and they only take cash so I had to run to the pet store across the way to get cash back to pay. Shape of my nails was great but one cuticle was nicked during my manicure. Visit 2: Manicure. Lots of pressure to upgrade to a mani/pedi. The technician cut the same cuticle as well as another finger. A few days later it was swollen and infected. Ugh. Shape of nails was good, but polish chipped very quickly. Every now and then a technician will accidentally nick a cuticle, it happens and I can deal with that if its rare. But in this case during my second visit they purposely cut off the small scab which had formed from the first manicure which I'm sure led to the infection. Ahhhhhhh... dipping your feet into a spaful of warm sudsy water is one of the greatest feelings my piggies can experience! And Capri is a wonderful place to do this. I've never had anything done here except a pedicure so that is the service I am basically reviewing. I just love this place for so many reasons: -it's super close to my house -it's a very clean, soothing environment -the owner/greeter at the front desk is SO sweet and friendly and easy to understand -Starbucks is 3-4 shops down! -the chairs are all massage chairs and even have side tables for your magazines/purse (or Starbucks drink) -the spa pedicures include a hot wax treatment (ahhhhhh again) -they give a nice leg & foot massage -after a long day at work - a walk in appointment hasn't been a problem at all You have a choice of "flavors": cucumber, citrus, rose, lavender or honey. I think really all it is is your scent of lotion they put on your feet after the spa soak - but it's a cute/novel idea regardless. The helpful woman at the counter suggested cucumber because she said it is the most moisturizing. After they soak your feet, massage them, apply a salt rub, rinse, apply the hot wax and moisturize - it's time for the basic definition of a pedicure: paint! I usually do a French Pedicure which typically shows its wear quickly since it's just the tips which are painted. However, every time I've gotten a French pedicure here the polish doesn't wear off. I'm serious. I end up cutting the tips off due to regular trimmings of my toenails before the polish wears off. Not even a chip (aside from when a woman at a wedding stepped on my toe with her high heel - ouch and yet still just a TEENSY chip!) My current pedicure still looks EXACTLY the same as it did when I left the shop on 10/15 (that's 18 days and counting) and the previous one I got on 9/13 - lasted until 10/15! Over a month! Absolutely no joke. Even my pinky toe! I should try a manicure and see how long that lasts since I can't usually keep a manicure longer than 2 days... Believe it or not I'm actually perversely upset that my pedicures last so long 'cuz I want to go in for the spa part more often than once a month! Note: THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS! But there is an ATM machine (likely with a fee) right in the shop. This wonderfully relaxing spa pedicure takes about an hour and is $35 before tip. They have a large assortment of magazines to sift through if you forget your own reading material and decide not to take a nap. :) I was in a hurry one day and just needed the "paint-job" so I ran in for a dry pedicure. It was great! She filed my nails down and painted them. I was in and out in 15 minutes for $25, pre-tip. Capri is perhaps not a destination nail salon but I give them big stars for being so wonderful and all the while so close to me. One of my best days is a stroll from my house, Baji's for breakfast, a stop in at Capri, flip-flop to Best Buy or Bed Bath & Beyond to browse, stop at Starbuck's for a latte, run through Michael's (and try to get out in less than an hour), then stroll on home... with pretty little piggies to show for it! read more

I chose the wrong weekend to find out that the prices have gone up and the quality has dropped even further. Prices are now $40 for the BASIC mani/pedi and $57 for the spa mani/pedi, which is outrageous considering that the quality of their work is now mediocre at best. Anyhow, I decided to get french nails and toes for my wedding and my nails were chipping less than two days later, on my wedding day. Since I didn't have time to get them fixed, I just kept my chin up and tried to avoid chose up shots of my hands (and new ring). Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

The spa and utensils are sterile, and the owners are extremely friendly. Excellent customer service. The owner of the spa goes around asking people how their treatment is going, and remembers customer names. I can see WHY people return... but here my story. I came here for a mani / pedi french set for $45.00. My experience at Capri Nail Spa was by far one of the worst I've encountered at any salon / nail spa. The lone male of the salon, STEPHEN , worked on my pedicure. He barely understood what I was saying in English and was extremely rough on cutting my cuticles even when I told him to apply less pressure. He dug my cuticles deep - leaving them bleeding, and worse of all, SCRAPED my toe nail and skin off. He kept going even when I said, "owch! that hurts!" Then the throbbing began and persisted. I complained, and another woman came over and they mumbled back and forth to each other in Vietnamese. She leaned over, took a look, took his nail clippers, and clipped a corner of my toe nail off. "Your nail go in skin. That why it hurt. OK now?" I nodded. Then the manicurist, this sweet young girl - shaped my finger nails ROUND when I clearly told her to make them STRAIGHT. They didn't use quality polish so 24 hours later it's already starting to chip. 24 hours later, my toe is still throbbing, red, and swelling. I had trouble walking in FLATS today and I'm afraid I'm going to have an infection. I'm taming down this pain with Neosporin. Do the people here not speak or understand English!? It's unfortunate the quality of service is at this level when this spa clearly has potential. --- UPDATE: Infection turned into a surgery. Thank goodness for my health insurance, I only had to pay $140 which would've otherwise cost me close to $600. Stay away from this place. read more

I like to come here for a little bit of pampering when getting my nails done. They do a pretty good job with manis / pedis. I like how the staff is generally friendly and welcoming. I also feel that this is one of the cleaner nail salons. The reason that I don't give more stars is because the quality is not the highest and the prices are steep. I've been waiting until I got at least a few visits under my belt with this place before I wrote a review. What starts out as a great experience can eventually sour as I've learned from past nail places, so it's best to see how consistent they are first. I'm not a nail pro per se but I've been getting my nails done every two weeks for the last 10 years so I've learned a lot about the nail salon experience and trust me I'm picky! I always go in for a fill and a pedicure. I get french manicured acrylic filled nails with a gel top (not the gel polish stuff) and they always look great. The guy that does my nails is excellent so I make sure to request him everytime I go in. I'm pretty hard on my nails so it's a true testament to a salon if my nails can make it to the next fill and still look pretty good, which they do! As far as pedicures go they do a fine job. The pedicure is on the pricey side but I don't ever leave feeling that they didn't try to give me my money's worth. They have really really nice massage chairs and if you get the full spa pedicure they give you nice choices of what you'd like (honey, rose, cucumber, lavender and others). I haven't had a problem with any bad paint jobs per se either. Their polish jobs last really well and don't chip off quickly like other places I've gone too. The parrafin wax for your feet is a very nice touch though so I'm glad they add that in. I've had guys do my feet as well and they're all pros. Some BIG pluses about them: The sisters that own and run the place are awesome. They have great communication skills (great english) and they always try to make sure that you're enjoying your visit. Their also awesome about fixes and breakages. I've had a few 'oops' moments that they've always been great about taking care of. They've been great with my multiple toe nail breakages too. Like I said, I'm hard on my nails... all of them! Overall I'm really happy with this place. Their location next to Starbucks rules and there's a hawaiian restaurant next door too if you like that kind of thing. Plus they're a high quality nail/spa salon in Mountain View! I don't know of any others here really that are as nice. I always call first before I go since they can be really busy at times and I hate long waits so calling first/making an appt. has worked well. **UPDATE - 7/26** I removed my previous negative comment about how long it takes to get done at this place due to some recent changes. Last time I had my fill overlap my pedicure which made the visit very quick. Also getting my pedi before my fill has speeded things up a lot as well in terms of drying. I've also noticed they are paying a lot more attention to people that are done then they did before. My experience has improved a lot in that department. The girl that did my pedicure was quick and excellent as well. Top notch, I was very pleased. They no longer take credit cards as of August 1st. They'll only accept cash and checks. So I have been there multiple times before to get a pedicure and each time it is amazing, they are great for the pedicure. Very peaceful and gentle, they are a little expensive but they do the hot wax treatment. There "special" massage is not anything special or extra to me. Too pricey. The reason for 2 stars is because I recently decided to try there nails and thought maybe i would finally find a good place. I asked for french tip or white tip and they gave me the most expensive which is pink & white. Well, the technician was friendly but did not listen to what I wanted at all, I had to ask him to shorten my nails 3 different times and to file the nails more round than square twice. Plus he was being a bit too aggressive with pushing or pulling my hands towards or away from him and he kept bending my wrist, not gentle at all. They came out nice initially however after 3 days only my nails around the bottom started to lift, and I have never ever had that before. When I called to see if they would fix it they told me that it was probably my fault....I didn't do anything with my hands out of the ordinary?? So I asked them if I could come in and have them fix it and she said she would have to charge me for the normal fill price, after I had just paid $45 for a new set 3 days earlier. What happened to customer service. So needless to say, I will go back for the pedicure again if my usual place is too busy but never again for nails. read more

Capri Nail Spa is decent, consistent, and solid. You can expect to walk out of there with pretty nails & relaxed muscles. Pedicures: The pedicures last a long time. If you find any chip within 2 days, they will be happy to re-do it. (they don't advertise this, but it's their policy). The massages are good too - depending on which lady you get, sometimes you will be treated with an extra-long massage session. Waxing: This is my go-to place for my eyebrows. The ladies are really good here, they take their time to ensure that the shape you get is what you want. After the wax, they also trim away strays and use a twizer for the really little ones. I have never been disappointed with my brows. Customer Service: The ladies working at the front desk are always very welcoming and nice. They speak to you with such soft voice, it's almost soothing. Appointments are recommended because it can be crowded and there's not many chairs for the wait. Lastly, prices are decent for Mt View ($25 for a regular pedi, 35 for a spa pedi). Let's face it, I am an operational and entreprenuerial junkie. I love meeting new business owners and asking about their motivations and challenges. Ok, I just can't help it. So when I realized my facialist (is that a word??) was Van, one of the three sister owners, I was thrilled. As I suspected by the environment, they did set out to do something very different. After years of working in other nail salons, they realized much in the way of customer satisfaction--and employee satisfaction--was unaddressed. They do appear to be addressing this--the atmosphere is nice, and as others point out, the English-speaking staff do make the experience easier. The lack of chattering among the staff help make the environment more relaxing. The quality of my services was top notch, it was a very complete pedicure and a very nice, painless facial, at comparable prices to other places, in a clean and sanitary atmosphere. If I have any gripes, it mirrors what others say--appointments not kept, a bit of disorganization around my two services (I wound up being there three hours for two hours of services, although I was there to take care of myself, so I was not about to get too spun up, and I read a whole issue of TIME which was good). First of all, the insame high price they charge does not warrant for the service and quality they provide! it's $35 for just the pedicure, plus tip at the end it ends to be $40 for just the feet. The service itself was just like at any other nail salons, nothing special!!! as a matter of fact, right after i got home, the color on my pinky toenail was chipped already! It didn't even last over a night. What I didn't like at the end was that they take only cash or check for payment, "conveniently" they have an ATM machine right inside the store. Since I didn't have enough cash on me and didn't want to waste the money on an ATM machine, I decided to write a check. They were very meticulous about the check, they ask for driver license and write down your driver license # and your phone # on the check. For an "upscale" salon (especially at the price they charge), they should not treat customers that way! being "doubted" and "investigated" for your payment certainly does not make the place "upscale" nor making the customers feel "being pampered". I can get my pedicure done elsewhere for the same level of service and satisfaction for almost half the price. read more

You won't find many men in nail spas, but this one is the exception. My dermatologist sent me to have a silk wrap, since my nails are beyond medical/nuritional help, and I went to five other nail places in the area before this one opened. It was worth the wait. They not only did a better silk wrap, they switched me over to a UV-cured gel which has held up way better than anything else. The three sisters are charming and articulate in English, and they are slowly building a staff of personable, talented women and men. The only criticism I have is, as another reviewer mentioned, they don't always honor appointments, and weekend afternoons can be extremely busy. They have many more pedicure and manicure stations than they have people to staff them, hopefully they will grow to fit the demand. The place is squeaky clean, and very friendly. I won't go anywhere else to have my nails armor-plated. I see lots of men getting pedicures, too. Update 6/12/07: They are still excellent, friendly and clean, and have now hired about half a dozen people to help out. It's not uncommon to see all the pedicure stations in use on a weekend afternoon. While they do take reservations, they really operate on a first-come basis, so don't bother to call ahead, just show up and be prepared to wait 10-30 minutes. read more

One of them cut my damaged toe nail incorrectly after I said NO THANK YOU, and it has taken FOREVER to grow back correctly. Eye rolling, and kvetching in Vietnamese is rude, kids. The nail drying area is dirty and the magazines are old. But, the waxing services are great, and the lady at the front desk is very personable. Super clean. Amazing service. Go see Stephen, he's in med/ nursing school, and has surgeon-like precision on his French manicures and gel nails. This place treats you SOOOO well, and they are very respectful to their employees as well, which is rare to find at salons these days! Since I'm pregnant (oh gosh 8 months now!) they always give me a mask to wear to protect me from dust/ fumes and sit me in a chair right up front. But the entire place is so clean and well-ventilated, any chair in the place would be fine. My gel nails are always super-sharp on the white line, very thin and curved exactly to my nail, and I've not had a problem with them, EVER. I've had nails pop, crack or chip off before (what, nails aren't screwdrivers?!!? LOL) and the products Capri uses are rock-solid and never bubble, chip or shatter (I think it's OPI based powders and something similar for their gel toppings). Going for a pedi tomorrow as a splurge- actually it's for the sore calf muscles and swollen tootsies (side effect of PG) and can't wait :-). read more

I have made a habit of coming here when I am in Mountain View. I go with my mom, aunt, and cousin, and Trinh and the ladies and gents are all very kind, and do a great job. We even got my ridiculously foot-shy aunt to consider buying a pair of flip flops to show off her amazing toenails. In reading other reviews, I think it is important to note that these guys guarantee their work for 2 weeks. One time I messed up my own nail (left before it was dry, and chipped the slightly wet paint) I went right back the next day and they fixed it in a flash. I was referred by a friend who raved about the job they do on her gels. After I arrived without an appt. I was escorted immediately to a massage chair and serviced without a wait. Wow. No less, she did a great job in quick time. You're wondering why I'm only giving three stars? Since I've been getting pedis for over ten years, I'm well aware that this place is on the high end of pricing. Worth it? I've most definitely had a BETTER experience for much less (read: more massaging). After she finished painting, she asked if I wanted a flower design and when I confirmed that I did, she informed me that it would be an ADDITIONAL $10. I have NEVER paid more than $5 - in TEN years. So I left without one. Which is the first time in as many years that I've had plain toes. Sadness. My standard pedicure was $27 (I've never paid more than $22), and with a flower design it would have been $37 - plus an $8 tip....ummm $45 for a run of the mill pedi?! There are soooo many nail salons, I'm pretty sure you'd be happy with a cheaper one elsewhere. That said, the location is great: just off the 101 and beautifully accessible during rush hour traffic!! I'd highly recommend their facial as a random "treat yourself"! It's an hour long so you can do it on your lunch break, or quickly after a long day at the office. I'm definitely going to make routine visits! When I walked into Capri I asked to see their facial services menu and the technician came right over and explained all of the options. After seeing how reasonably priced they are ($80 for a 60 minute session!!) I asked if I can make an appointment and she politely smiled and said 'How about now'! Which was absolute music to my ears, since I really needed one. The facial was soooo relaxing. She was very well versed with her skin knowledge, very professional, and very gentle. Agree that capri is clean, affordable and they definitely do a good quality and quick job on mani pedis. BUT: This place is new so they have some severe operational hiccups. I went on a Sat afternoon and waited 1.5 hours just for a mani. The lady sitting next to me waited even longer (they served me first by mistake!) AND she had made an appointment that they forgot about. Stay away on the weekends. Seriously. They also unfortunately stock some poor quality polish, the OPI is fine, but the rest are junky. The ladies who run the place are very lovely, but they don't know how to run the business -- if I had a customer who had waited 2 hours on top of making an appointment, I'd at least give her a free treatment. read more

Love this place! It's right by my work and they've always been able to take me when I just walk-in. I always bring my own color for pedicures because it's easier to do touch-ups if something goes wrong. But they have a great selection of colors and keep up with the trendy/seasonal favorites. My pedicures from other places usually only last 2 weeks max but mine lasted 5 weeks with no chipping from Capri! Definitely worth the $25 and the place is very clean. I do think that charging $10 for hand painted flowers/design is a bit pricey but it did look cute! read more

I got a hair cut yesterday in San Jose and when I went in requesting a trim and informing them I'd like to try to grow my hair out, I came out with the shortest cut ever - definitely a boy cut! :( So, today, in hopes of trying to make myself look more like a girl, I decided it was due time I get a french nail (full set) - whatever the heck its called - done. I yelped the nearest locations and this was by far the one with the best review so I thought I'd give it a try - and I'm very glad I did. I went in during my lunch hour, crossing my fingers hoping they'd be able to fit me in.. not only did I walk in and get seated right away - I told my gal (Vanna) that I needed to be back at work within the hour and she did everything she could to make that happen. I normally only get professional pedicures for special occasions (e.g. weddings, vacations, etc.), so this review is based on periodic visits only - i.e. a few times a year at most. I usually opt for the regular pedicure since this is a casual place and the spa pedicure doesn't seem that much of an upgrade for the price. When I'm looking for a "spa" experience, I usually head to Burke Williams or a higher end salon. The owners/managers are sisters who are very friendly and courteous. Despite my relatively infrequent visits, they remember me, and one even remembers my name. I think that nail service is highly dependent on the individual manicurist, so I usually request certain technicians who I believe are more skilled. They are careful and meticulous and have never "cut" me, which is my biggest fear due to sanitary issues. I usually request that they trim only very little (dead skin), and they honor my request and work carefully to clean up the area with minimal trimming. I think shaping is very subjective, so be sure to be clear on what shape you're after and offer feedback if you are not pleased with the progress. In my experience, the technicians have been friendly and pleasant -- engaging in some polite conversation but allowing you to relax also. I have observed the work of some of the male technicians in neighboring stations and have not been as impressed. I know multiple men work in the salon, so it's probably not fair to cast them all in one lot. Overall, it is a very pleasant atmosphere for a mid-range salon. Recommended! read more

This is a typical nail place where the technicians are not warm or friendly and speak to each other in another language leading me to believe they are gossiping about clients. While working on my hands, my manicurist dragged my hand over to show the pedicurist something -- probably the poor state of my cuticles, which she mentioned several times -- and then made a comment I could not understand. Also, I'm pretty sure they giggled and gossiped about another client requesting ridge filler. This behavior, plus generally being a bit too aggressive with pushing or pulling my hands and feet in and out or water or towards or away from them, makes me think, "Where is the love, ladies?" and that I get what I pay for. The price of a mani/pedi at the time of this post is $35. Oh, and they don't take credit cards -- only cash or check. They do have an ATM machine onsite, which they will strongly suggest you use before they're done paining your nails. read more

Unfortunately, today I was handed a technician who could care less if I was happy with what she did. She hurt me when she cut my cuticles and didn't apologize. She gave me an attitude when I messed up my nails and I asked her tp fix them even though she didn't even give them 5 min to dry. She didn't massage my legs or my arms. Let me premise this by saying that I RARELY get manicures. I played violin growing up and always had to have really short nails, and my parents never let me wear nail polish so as an adult it's hard for me to not feel weird with nail polish on. Also, I have this weird thing where I think my nails are super HUGE because I have really long fingers and my nail beds are pretty long (even when trimmed) so color on them makes them look fake to me... or clownish... or like those severed fingers you can buy during Halloween with those huge nails with HUGE BLOB of color. Yeah, don't ask... I'm really weird. ANYWAY... (damn, this is kinda an awkward review)... So I came here today with a couple friends to get manicures. GOOD -- *Parking is easy peasy - good location. *We didn't come with appointments but it was fine and the wait wasn't long. *The decor and atmosphere make for a very soothing and relaxing time. The seafoam green/ocean blue wall color is easy on the eyes. *They're really clean and super nice. Each pedicure station has a cleaning log - pretty cool. *If you don't know what color polish you want, they'll try the colors you're thinking about so you can decide easier. *The hand and arm massage was pretty nice. *They have a 2-3 day policy where you can get free touch-ups if you mess up your polish. BAD -- *Cash only, but they have an ATM machine - how convenient. *The polishes aren't organized in any way which makes it hard to choose. *They make you pay in the middle of your manicure before you get the polish (seriously, wtf?). *Somewhat expensive... $15 not incl'd tip for a 20ish minute manicure. Bottom line - they did a pretty good job and I think I'm actually getting used to accepting my huge freakshow nails because they look nice. This salon is great! The two best things: 1. Your mani/pedi will last 2 weeks guaranteed! 2. It's relaxing & professional - you won't get manicurists that sit around and gossip in Vietnamese. This place is great. I've only had the spa pedicure, and its awesome. Really clean, good selection of magazines and polish, tons of comfy new chairs--what more could I want? My polish always lasts forever too. Last time I went, I accidentally smudged my big toe as I was getting into my car to leave. When I sheepishly returned, they gladly helped me. Today was my first time at Capri Nail spa, I opted for the Spa Pedicure (Rose scent) which is about $35. The woman who did my pedicure was very nice, she didn't have too much to deal with becuase I do keep my toes clean, but she did a nice job with removing cuticles, and the foot massage was really really nice! I also go the paraffin wax treatment, and it's been well over two hours now and I'm still smelling Rose from my feet! They feel soft, and when I got done I didn't want to go back to work! The ambiance of the place is fantastic, soothing aqua colors and it's a big space, which I like as opposed to the usual small space nail spas. I give it 4 stars becuase who knows what my next experience will bring me! read more

Yes, agreed that this nail place does a great job. But I just paid $20 to have the color on my toes changed?? In general, I've found that most places charge $5 TOTAL to have designs done... but apparently this place is $5 per DESIGN. Basically, I gave it 3 stars because of the overprice in design... ugh. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to come here with my mom for pedicures. They did a really good job. Likes: *They cleaned the items used after EACH person! *They cleaned the foot spas after each use. *They were friendly. *They fixed my broken toe nail from hell. *The guys do a better job than the gals. No likey: *They don't accept credit/debit cards, you have to use the ATM machine. *There was a small section of the wall under the polish rack that had polish all over the place. Someone should either repaint the wall or clean it up. Overall the service was better than most in the area, but if I come here again I will definitely have a guy do my pedi and ask them about that lil' section of the wall. :) read more

Great salon and I've been a client for 3 years now. Got here via a referral from a friend and had only one bad experience in 3 years (got a super new guy who was torturing my nails for 2 hours and it looked awful afterwards). If you want to get a super natural looking, perfectly done and quick service for filling - ask for Annie. She's an artist! Super thin filling and she just knows how to make it look nice. They also offer a new technique that's called "nail dipping" which is doing the filling with a soft powder you dip your nail into, rather that super aggressive gel. No smell, non toxic and the nails got super thin and not that bulky as its often with gel. And its cheaper! I paid $30 for complete filling (no french) which is $14 less than what I usually pay for gel. Super friendly staff, comfy chairs. I don't do pedicure here as its too expensive, I think. But I wouldn't go anywhere else for getting my nails filled. read more

First time customer. I usually go to a cheap place but decided to upgrade to the organic Pedi (normally 60.00, on special for 50.00) Annie was my pedicurist and she worked my feet! They were very calloused from the summer and she got them baby smooth. She also gave me tips on foot nail and skin health. The pedi lasted an hour and the chair was the best massage chair I've ever sat in! I felt massaged and refreshed. My feet look amazing! I can't afford this service regularly but maybe 2x a year...it is worth the pampering. Like others said, it is clean, very large and open and (I'm gonna go there) everyone speaks good English. No offense meant to any 2nd language learner's BUT I've gotten to a point where I will only spend my money on services where there is excellent communication. Ask for Annie if you go there! She's a top-notch professional who treats her clients with respect and has a lot of knowledge about her trade. read more

It's newish and clean. Love the spa pedicure there and the massaging chairs are pretty cool even though sometimes if the setting is too high I feel I am being mauled by a bear. Overall the service is very good and they work hard for their tips. I tip extra when I forget to shave my legs. LOL. The only downside is the cash only business aspect. Most these type of places are though. Just make sure you bring cash or a checkbook (considered cash too even though they will not suggest it!) Otherwise you are stuck using their ATM with a huge surcharge! And that's no fun when you are going there to feel good. read more
