Two sandwiches, two waters, and two bags of chips set me back a whooping $39! Neither sandwiches were large size either. Both were rather meh. Place was dirty and was strictly take out. Probably would have walked out however we were at the bedside of a passing relative up the street at the hospital and I was tasked with getting lunch. This was the first place I stumbled upon. I will never ever go to this particular location again. I am a 55-year-old female who just got over Covid and was told by my doctor to still wear a mask. I felt like a sandwich, ordered one, and went in to the Elkton Capriotti's to pick it up. The young man behind the counter and the girl next to him made me feel so uncomfortable staring and glaring at my mask. They even went so far as to mock me by mouthing answers to my questions and then giggling to each other. I paid for my sandwich however was so upset by the experience could not eat it. This place only has an overall 3 star rating for a reason. The food is good, that's why I'm giving 2 stars. But I will never eat here again. We purchased subs here during the Covid 19 quarantine and they need some education on cross contamination. The guy was wearing gloves, laid the pen on the counter for my husband to sign the credit card slip, picked up the pen and paper and then went back to making subs.....he just put all the germs from that pen into everyone's food. We should have refused the food honestly but it was already paid for and we were hungry. Beyond that, the customer service is horrible. I placed our order on their app for 2 cheese steaks and a sub. When we got home from picking up the food, we realized the sub was not included. Had to drive back which luckily it is only 5 minutes from our house. It was annoying but everyone makes mistakes, that wasn't the problem. The problem was that when my husband went back in with the receipt to inform the worker that we did not receive the sub, the guy didn't say a single word. Not an apology, not anything. If you hate your job that much, why are you working there? Management hasn't witnessed this poor attitude or the other reviews on this app about the same thing? The only thing keeping this place in business is the food but I guarantee they lose customers on a daily basis with the bad attitudes. We 'escaped' to this Capriotti's from the Bear, DE store. The food here was excellent and the service was efficient and friendly. Our salad was good, the steak and italian subs were excellent and up to Cap's standards. We will go back. I just wish they had a public bathroom. Capriotti's has issues with their ordering app. When it works, that is fine. With some restaurants, there are two 'Order' buttons: one stays in the app and the other goes to the browser. The app works, the browser does not. Annoying, it will not allow an order to be placed until the store is open. If it opens at 11AM, why can't I place an order at 10:30 for 11:15 pickup? read more

I've been a big fan of Capriotti's for years. I moved away from Maryland in 1997, and would come back to visit family and go to Ocean City. My wife's grandmother lived around the corner from one and every time we would visit, we just had to go to Caps. Bar-none, THIS is what a sub-shop should be like. Plenty of meat on the subs, unlike Subway who puts a pound of lettuce on a sub with a thin strip of meat. I can't rate this highly enough. 5 stars simply isn't enough. Fortunately, they opened a Caps about 30-40 minutes from my house and drive there several times a month. It's a long drive, but WORTH IT. On the way to Ocean City, I stop by (I think it's Lewes, DE) and pick up subs for everyone. These guys don't skimp on their subs. If you have the means, I highly recommend you give them a try. You'll be hooked for life and it'll ruin you for other subs anywhere else. read more

You can best believe I was watching every moment to be sure my food wasn't being effected by this. Luckily our food wasn't even on the grill yet. I ordered Chicken Cheese steak, with lettuce mayo and hots. He ordered Grilled Italian with everything and a tiny bit of hots. Grilled cheese for the child. What we got Chicken Cheese Steak with lettuce mayo, hots and pickles. Now I despise pickles on HOT SANDWICHES so I would have never ordered that. Yuck . And Grilled Italian with everything and TON and I mean a TON of hots. 2 small subs, 1 sandwich and 3 chips almost 26.00. No Drinks because their drink choices SUUCCCKKKK. No fountain options and all random items in the fridge. No lemonade, no iced tea off brand water. Yes.. Im that person a water snob. At least have some basic Deer Park geeezee. Anyway was my sandwich good, yes after I had to dig through and pick the pickles off. My kid liked her grilled cheese, but that's not hard to mess up. I have actually considered driving up from DC for a Capriotti's sub. The Cole Turkey (turkey, coleslaw, provolone, Russian Dressing) is phenomenal, but you can't go wrong with a classic turkey on a kaiser. The secret to Capriotti's success - at least with me - is their turkey. It's no lunch meat - it's as if they pulled it off the bone just for me. Delicious. Be forewarned: There's nowhere to eat in the deli, but the food is really cheap for the quality of the product. I think my turkey on a kaiser was four or five bucks. Having lived in Delaware for many years, I have been to most of the Capriotti's. Generally, the food is very good. Since I was in Elkton a few days ago, someone recommended Capriotti's. I did not even know that they were there, but decided to stop in. What a mistake. I arrived at 11 a.m., supposedly opening time. They were not open. When they did open, I ordered a meatball sandwich. Not only was the bread almost frozen, the entire sandwich was cold. I was also overcharged. Reading other reviews about overcharging and double credit card billing, this might be a reason for the City of Elkton to take a look at this facility. Not seeing a line outside and not hearing the phone ringing off the hook was a surprise to me, but now I know why. It appears that they have a management problem, because that is the only reason that the staff is not trained correctly. I have contacted their corporate office, but apparently since they are in LV now, they have no interest at least in the Elkton shop. My advice is to go somewhere else--maybe Casapulla's. read more

It's pretty much a thanksgiving sandwich with turkey, cranberry sauce, & stuffing on a roll with mayo. Yeah...uh...no! It reminded me of the leftovers about a week AFTER turkey day. You know around the time that dry foods get drier & mushy foods get mushier & you wonder if it's still edible. That's how I felt about the Bobbie. No shade! I'm not from the area! My husband and I went to Capriotti's on a Friday, after the lunchtime rush but before dinner time. We had done a lot of errands that day and wanted a nice warm sandwich before continuing our day. We were the only clients in the store when we arrived, a girl took our order and the sandwiches were prepared in about 7 minutes. I was kind of bummed at the lack of selection and no warm sides (I was really craving some fries, a one a year treat for me, but alas, not that day) and lack of choices for topping the sandwich. I got a chicken "philly," which was okay, but definitely not worth the price. I was disappointed that the bread was not only not toasted but kind of cold. The chicken was decent, the "fired" onions were a bit raw (I love onions but these could have used another few minutes on the grill, way too much crunch still). My husband got a steak philly and was happy with it. During the time we were waiting for our sandwiches, a couple more customers came in and were waiting for their orders. The place is tiny, and it was slightly crowded. So when else would you mop but right at that moment? One of the workers came from behind the corner to start mopping, even though the store was crowded, the floor was dry and it was a sunny day- no mess on the floor or anything. As she started cleaning (mind you, no orders were complete yet, seems like she could have been helping with the actual food) she proceeded to hit me in the head with the mop handle. She then looked at me and stated "I didn't know you wre there," and proceeded... Um... While a restaurant is about serving food, it will not get repeat customers if they cannot prioritize nor apologize once beaming someone in the head. Enough said. read more

Nobody, and I mean nobody makes a better sub than Capriotti's, and for vegetarian subs nobody comes close - the veggie turkey is so good and travels so well, people who aren't even vegetarians order it! All the ingredients are high-quality and the staff is almost always friendly. My one complaint is that I don't think they put enough lettuce on, but it's a simple thing to ask for extra lettuce. I never hesitate to recommend Cap's to my friends - the few of them who don't already come here, at least. read more

I was introduced to Capriotti's some 25 years ago off of Main Street in Newark, DE. And I became a fan of the Bobbie immediately. Since then I have visited many other of their locations, and I was always satisfied. Well, until I stopped into the Elkton location on Saturday the 16th. As soon as I walked, someone blurted out to me that they only had small or large rolls. Well okay, but I wasn't even sure of what I wanted, so said can you repeat that. Yes, you can either order a small or a large, we don't have medium rolls. Well, I looked at the menu, I decided on the Bobbie but I didn't want a 20 inch roll, and a small wasn't enough for me to enjoy. So I said, well, can you please take a 20 inch roll and cut down to make 12 inch hoagie? Oh but a female employee who wasn't even waiting on me, said in a very unprofessional and annoyed tone, that no we can't do that and walked away. So I asked why, and she in her less than customer caring voice, said the owners don't want us to do that, and that was that. I wasn't going to pay $13.50 for a hoagie size that I didn't want. So I ordered the small bobbie because I was hungry and tired, (Long day at work) and I didn't feel like traveling anywhere else. I was disappointed with this store at all points, the lack of professionalism that was displayed by this employee was insulting at best. One more note here, I would have paid for the cost of the roll so I could order the medium bobbie, but I never got the chance to ask, and the employee never thought out side of the box to ask me this question. I am not one to complete a review on my experiences with local businesses but this experience terrible. You always treat your paying customer with respect, dah, that's what will bring back your repeat customers. And, if it is the company policy that when your out of medium rolls, your employee may not cut a 20 inch roll down to appease the customer's request. Then over the long run, your company will loose business. And really, all of this over you losing 25 cents on a hoagie because you don't want to cut a roll down that you will wind up throwing away by the end of the night. Disappointed, David C. read more

I said you should disclose that information when people are paying. When I asked for The owner she said he would tell me the same. Then told me it was because the machine is old. Legend has it that a Capriottis sub is the best around! I do find that to be true. However, the employees look and act like they HATE people and are bothered by the fact that customers keep coming in! Do the employees at the Elkton Capriottis realize that if they had no customers, there would be no need for them(the workers)? Maybe they should start to appreciate each and every customer coming into that establishment, I mean, we DO PAY THEIR PAYCHECKS!...... The service was incredibly slow compared to other locations and the bread somehow wasn't as good as normal. I've had the Bobbie in the past, and it was OK, even though the turkey was finely shredded not sliced. But I stopped in for a roast beef sandwich yesterday and it was dreadful!! Finely minced beef , unreognizable and oversalted, on cheap mushy whole wheat bread. Why can't they slice their meat instead of pulverizing it? The meat on both sandwiches was very dry - thankfully the cranberry sauce helped the Bobbie considerably. Won't be back! read more
