For our project they refinished and replaced the tile of our main pool, the infinity trough, and the hot tub. They were meticulous tilers and every person took pride in their craftsmanship. We had a recommendation from a coworker for Capstone. I started researching and their reputation seemed quite solid. I have a 30k gal pool that had been painted not too long before I bought my house and it needed work badly. I got other quotes and all in all they were all about even with each other. We had to get the plaster completely redone, with new tile and some repair on the coping (re-used the existing). You really get a feel of competency from Capstone and I had a good comfort level with them. When started the work progressed quickly, on schedule and in no time our pool was re-done. We got the speckled blue which makes the water look a bit better in my opinion. The surface is nice and smooth without being slippery and the edges, steps and angles are all nicely formed. Our pool guy who has some very high end clientele, said the job is one of the best he has seen. No overruns, rescheduling, delays or issues. Before we knew it, our pool was finished. I am in the process of receiving bids for a renovation on our family pool. Estimates have been in the 20-30k range. I scheduled an appoint with capstone do to their reviews being stellar on yelp. Unfortunately, I didn't read the ones left out at that tell of a lack of professionalism and consideration. Russ was supposed to be at my residence between 3-5. Kind of a big window but okay. I had to leave work early to be home. At 5 I get a call apologizing and wanting to reschedule as their was an emergency at another job. I want to start by saying I would hire Russ and his team again without hesitation. I interviewed 5 pool companies and Russ stood out 100% from the others in terms of knowledge, personality and honesty. He has been in the business for over 40 years and I enjoyed that his father, grandfather and son are all in the business. He knows what he is talking about. He is also the only company that gave me a quote before he left my home. It may have been on paper (you should know he does not email), but I appreciated having it immediately. Our pool needed a lot of work: new plaster, new tile, new plumbing, new skimmer, new light and we added waterfalls and a baja bench. Russ took my ideas and offered suggestions that came out better than I ever imagined. He never pressured me to do anything and gave me different prices based on what I could afford or wanted to do. Shauna, in his front office, was also amazing. She was friendly, returned phone calls and communicated when meetings needed to be changed. Russ was not the cheapest or most expensive, but the quality of his work stands for itself. His years in the business and knowledge are what made me choose him. Can't believe I've waited so long to write this review. We had Russ (owner) from Capstone come out and bid on resurfacing our pool. Russ was polite, prompt and super knowledgeable. The word "no" didn't seem to be in his vocabulary like many other pool places. To add even more pressure to our job, we were planning to get married in our back yard in about 2 months from when I met with Russ. He assured me that he and his team could be done two weeks prior to our wedding date...he was so reassuring and certain that he even agreed to write the finish date into the contract. WOW! The re-plaster, install better pool pump which I already have and re-tile my pool. We needed to get our pool and spa resurfaced after the last plaster job, which lasted close to 30 years, went bad (rebar, sloughing off layers, etc.). I did a lot of research on pool and spa remodelers in San Diego and finally interviewed 3 companies. I won't mention the others but in too often typical fashion, a couple of them misrepresented what needed to be done and how to do it. One of them, for example, said "nobody jackhammers the surface to remove the old plaster anymore, they just add a scuff coat and plaster over the old plaster!" I kid you not, I was told this! And then Russ Peterson of Capstone Pool and Spa remodeling came out. I was totally impressed with his knowledge, experience, honesty and attitude. He offered us a very high quality job in a reasonable time period for an excellent value. He is not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but now that the job is complete, I have to say it was the best value for my money. We had NPT Quartzscape applied in the Aruba Sky color. The entire team from demolition to plastering to startup were extremely professional, hard working, really nice to deal with and they did a FANTASTIC job!
