No reservations, walked in on a Tuesday afternoon, no wait. It was pretty empty and freezing inside. Large, open space. No alcohol just beer, wine & soju. They have $1 oysters on Tuesdays & lunch specials until 3pm. The service was great, our waiter Minn Kah was very friendly. The food took awhile to come out, everything was delicious! Worth the wait. Started with the fried calamari basket served with fries, the Cajun fries were sooo good, perfectly spiced. For the boil we got 1 pound of shrimp in the signature sauce, & 1 pound of snow crab legs in the lemon pepper sauce. The lemon pepper sauce is way more flavorful than the signature sauce. We love spice so opted for the hot and extra hot. The oysters were very fresh & meaty.

We came here on July 4th for lunch and it was relatively empty - no need for a reservation. They recommend a pound or so per person. We got the 3 pound boil, which comes with one small piece of cob and one small round potato in total (not per person). It also comes with 2 sides - we got the lemon pepper fries (hot, crispy, and thicker than McD fries) and broccoli (which comes in the boil). The broccoli soaked up the sauce, which we got the med spice Capt Loui sauce - delicious although it has a kick still and was a little too spicy for my friends. The dungeness crab, snow crab, shrimp (head off - so much easier to peel), and calamari were all good. The calamari was the easiest to eat obviously, and it was tenderly cooked - I'd definitely recommend this. We ended up staying here close to 2 hours, so budgetl accordingly.

It really is a 3.5* though not fully a 4* yet. This restaurant location had been changing cuisines and names since the fire that happened a few years ago. This was a relatively new restaurant. We went on a rainy Friday night so there were only a few tables with customers at 6:00PM. We had a few questions before ordering. We believe the waitress helping us was new and didn't know the information andhad to go check with someone else. After the third question, the other waiter came with her to answer our questions including whether the chicken meat is dark or white meat. The pricing was listed on the blackboard above us, which was not the most convenient/visible if you are sitting by the wall. Have some patience. We ordered: - Chicken Po' Boy Sandwich with fries - Pick 2 lbs Combo with 1 corn and 1 potato * Snow Crab * Shrimp (head on) Sauce: Cap't Loui Spice: Mild (Note: x-hot and higher has an additional cost). * Free Side: Garlic Noodles - this was addictive. The seafood items in the bottom of the bag had more taste than the ones on the top. Will have to go back and try out the other items.

The clams were big and delicious. The crawfish was really soft, which I'm not used to. The sauce was a bit too sweet for me, it was good otherwise. The clam chowder smelled really clammy but didn't taste as clammy. It was good! The Cajun fries were sweet, which is probably why the capt loui sauce was really sweet.

I believe they're still having a Grand Opening. I really hope this one sticks as the store front keeps on changing ownership. As everything is fairly new the staff didn't know how to answer our questions. I'm not sure if they thought this through as Mad For Chicken has seafood boil. It took us awhile to place an order as the prices weren't clear and you can only see it on the wall of the restaurant. We got the 2lbs combo, it didn't seem like a lot of food. We got the head on shrimp and snow crab that came with corn and 2 small potatoes. The sauce we chose was Capt Loui and got it medium spice. It wasn't mixed throughly so the sauce and spice were all towards the bottom of the bag. Since it came with a side, i ended up mixing the garlic noodles with the sauce. They should really look into working out their kinks.

First time visiting this new restaurant that just opened up in Sunnyside. Don't come here unless you don't want to get your hands dirty (gloves are provided tho to help with that). We ordered the Boiler bag combo; 3 lbs (for a party of 4) headless shrimp, and muscles, with potatoes and corn included in the sauces. You get to choose your spice level. We went with Medium which felt spicier than expected. We also got the calamari and Cajun fries, and the garlic pasta. You get your very own cute bibs while you eat. Nice open space. Looking forward to seeing what this place will turn into. Looking forward to more drink options and the bar service. Will come again.

Good seafood boil spot in the neighborhood! Their sauce is tasty and their shrimp was a good size. They have specials where you can get sides for free depending on the number of pounds you order. The service was great and the waitresses were very attentive. Because they recently opened, they are still setting up a bar area. The interior is spacious and can fit big groups. Happy this spot opened up!

My husband and I are so happy to have a legit seafood boil spot in the neighborhood! We've been here twice already and the quality has been good. The first time we came, we ordered the Pick 3lbs combo (hot) with crab, and crawfish, sausage and garlic noodles, and the fried shrimp basket with lemon pepper fries. Everything was really good but the lemon pepper seasoning has a sweetness to it, which I didn't expect. I probably wouldn't order that again. The heat level was solid and it does build. The second time we came, we decided to try the $1 oysters as well as the Pick 2lbs combo (hot) with crab, headless shrimp, and the garlic bread. We also tried the lemonade and mango Cap(t)risuns, which are non-alcoholic. The oysters are pretty big and had a light flavor, not too briny though I love a briny oyster. The only issue I had were the bones in the oyster, which I'm not used to having to pick out after slurping one down. Not a fan of that and will probably not get the oysters again. Though if you don't mind this, $1 is pretty solid. The seafood boil was great as usual and the drinks were great. My husband thought the lemonade was too sweet but I thought my mango was just right. The overall service is great and our servers have always been friendly and kind. You can tell they're still working out the kinks of a new place with new staff (i.e. not receiving flatware after our food arrives, a little slow taking away finished dishes). I wouldn't say it contributed to a bad experience at all though. Our server tonight was Cho and she was as attentive as she could be. There were only 2 servers this evening and there was a good amount of people tonight. I will flag that they need to refill the soap bottle in the bathroom with actual soap vs. soap + water. Given the fact that it's a seafood boil, your hands get really gross and dirty. The first time I was there, it was legit soap. Tonight, I had to pump half the bottle to get a good suds and even then my hands didn't feel clean. Please refill with real soap. Definitely stop by this place and try their delicious food! I'm looking forward to stopping by for lunch as well since the prices aren't bad at all.

Having been to quite a few seafood boil restaurants in recent years, I had high hopes for my first Cap't Loui experience at the Sunnyside location. I went with my brother for dinner, and we both had New England clam chowder to start, and then he had the lobster roll and I had the lobster boil. I usually ask for the sauce on the side so I can keep my seafood as pure as possible and control how much I'm taking in, but our server said that wasn't possible, which was kind of disappointing. The clam chowder was okay. I liked the consistency and flavor overall, but it was very potato-heavy, so the clams got somewhat lost. My brother seemed to like his lobster roll, which came with very crispy and nicely seasoned fries. My lobster was extremely overcooked, dry, and chewy, and it made me question whether that was why I was not allowed to get the sauce on the side. I understand that most of these Cajun boil spots don't have live lobsters on site and generally serve previously frozen seafood, but the other places I've been to in Forest Hills, Jackson Heights, Brooklyn, and Manhattan have figured out how to cook them from frozen while maintaining a fresher, plumper texture. I would consider returning to this place but would likely go for another dish rather than the boil. It wasn't worth the money for me. I also agree with other reviewers that they could offer more than one small potato and 1/3 ear of corn with each boil.

    Garlic Noodles
    Sarina S.

We came here during the winter and unfortunately their heat was not working, but the seafood broil still tasted amazing. We also tried the garlic noodles and garlic bread. Everything was really good! We will return now that it's warmer.

    Jerry T.

Place was spacious and was clean. Service was good. Food was mid, the shrimp was way too over cooked. First seafood boil where I was disappointed in shrimp. Also one corn and potato for 4 pounds isn't very reasonable.

If you're a huge Boiling Crab fan from the West Coast, then this will be your equivalent on the East Coast. You can't come to this place if you don't like seafood, don't even try. When I have a hankering for shrimp or crab (or crawfish if it's in season), you'll find me here happily sucking on some tasty critters slathered in the Boil Special sauce with just the right amount of heat and washing it down with an ice cold beer. My favorite combo is the Queen Combo which is either 1 pound of shrimp or crawfish with a cluster of snow crab legs. One of these days I'm going to splurge for the king crab legs but last time I went, they were sold out. Those suckers are huge! For your sides, make sure to get an order of the Cajun fries which you can use to dip in all that tasty sauce. I also get an order of the vermicelli noodles which I know is way too much food, but I don't care. I will literally use my hands and fingers to plop those noodles into the bag, and use my fork to twirl it on up into my mouth slathered in sauce. I'm at The Boil to be a glutton, not a saint. Please be warned that their sauce has so much garlic in it that you will be burping, sweating, and literally farting garlic for the next 24 hours. Would not advise this place as a first date, maybe not even a 5th or 10th but they gotta see that side of you eventually but do so at your own risk. It's funny I remember the original location on the LES years ago and it was always a long wait to get into. With this NOHO location there's more than enough space, and you can also make reservations ahead of time which I am a huge fan of. The only downside though is that it's cash only, but the other locations aren't. Oh and they have Happy Hour! Huzzah. From open to 6:30pm Monday through Friday you can get specials on raw oysters, clams, select beers, and $12 margaritas. Come hungry, leave garlicky.

The staffs were very low energies when we visited on a weekend night. The overall ambiance and interaction made us feel a little uncomfortable. We ordered: - eggplant dip - fries - Greek salad (large) - cooked fish - calamari - octopus Honestly I was so disappointed with the food. It didn't taste as fresh and was overall too salty. The eggplant dip had a weird taste. Friend fries were not as crispy and unevenly distributed portions of salt. The calamari was nothing special.
