In the drive thru I ordered a piece of fried fish, four fantail fried shrimp, French fries, and two hush puppies. We completed an online order, I do not eat seafood but like the chicken. My husband likes the seafood and gets a sampler platter. When he picked up the order he said the comment was made that they don't substitute chicken on the platter. He waited a very long time for an order they had 20 mins to prepare, And the online order said 11 mins. When he got home, my meal was entirely replaced with fish, which I don't eat. I went to this restaurant recently and they not only got my order wrong, but also the quality of the fish, shrimp, and hush puppies was horrible. It was over cooked and tasted like it was cooked in dirty grease. I asked the manager for a refund for the mostly uneaten food except what we had tried, but he refused and said they can only replace the food. I asked for the number to their home office and to whom I could complain and was given a disconnected phone number. This is very bad management. read more

Ewww. I paid $13 for a puddle (green beans shouldn't make a puddle) of green beans that taste like someone dropped their keys into it. The shrimp were swimming in the puddle. Soggy breading? No thanks. The broccoli was in a bag that was also swimming in the puddle. The crab cakes were burnt to a deep brown and should have been thrown away. They were burned hard all the way through. The fish had the texture of chicken. So much so that I checked to see which it was. I still don't have a verdict. In fact the only edible thing on my plate were the undercooked hush puppies. This was my maybe last time was a fluke visit. Lesson learned bc at least last time some of the food was edible. I will never go to Captain D'S again. The kids that are here today are very immature and yelling and cussing at each other! Not what you want to hear when you are here for dinner! Obviously they have zero adult supervision that they need! We shall see how the food is...correction, mgr Joann, unloading the truck by herself. I went through the drive thru this evening and ordered a 3 piece fish with loaded potato, coleslaw, and a medium sweet tea. I got home and realized that they rang it up as a 2piece fish instead of a 3 piece which is no big deal bc that's what they gave me but I also realized that they didn't give me my sweet tea. I called the restaurant and the manager said next time you're here use my name for a free sweet tea and she stated that sometimes they can't hear well when ordering and that's why I got a 2 pc instead of what I ordered. I don't understand how things can get so messed up when I was the only person in line at the time of my order and the inside was closed due to the pandemic. How hard can it be to take the order and check off the line items as you hand it out the window. Also I don't want to come back for a sweet tea and another incorrect dinner order. I want my money back for the tea. Take the order repeat the order and item check the receipt to make sure the order is filled correctly before the customer drives off. Road tripping and stopped here out of curiosity. The sign said 2 lobster rolls for$3.99. It was amazing for the price. I only ordered one, no way I could down 2. The roll was loaded with lobster and totally filled the medium size bun. It may not have been pure lobster but the flavor was there. And that bun. It was light, slightly sweet and very good as well. I really enjoy Captain D's, I wish there were more in City of St. Louis. But this location I have been to plenty of times. Always a good experiences, the only this is I wish they would offer drinks with their meals, you have to pay separate for their drinks. read more

Fast food is fast food, no matter how you look at it. Too many people build their anticipation way too high when selecting their food. I use this location regularly, and i do it for one reason more than any other. The food quality is always consistently good. Each time i choose to stop here, i know my meal will be done right, and it always tastes delicious. The ordering is easy, and the service i receive at the drive thru window is always pleasant. I have eaten many times here, and have had a lot of items on the menu. And each time the service repeats, which in turn has me returning for more. If you're expecting more than fast fish food, then go somewhere else. I will continue to enjoy the food and service at Captain D's. read more

Traveling as much as I do, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to try many different restaurants and cooking styles. Captain D's is a fast food restaurant, but one that can actually make a decent piece of fish. I stopped here for a quick lunch, and ordered the Nashville baked fish which came on a bed of rice with two sides and a bread stick. They have good baked fish, and the Nashville hot fish had just the right amount of heat. The fries are not the best though, so I usually do not order them. They offer a decent amount of sauces such as tarter, honey mustard, vinegar, etc. Parking is easy as they have a designated parking lot just for their customers. You can usually find coupons in local grocers which is nice. Decent seafood for a fast food restaurant. Four stars read more

Had dinner here tonight with my gf. We waited a long time in line but the customer in front of us was a pain in the ass to the cashier. I gotta say the manager handled this irritable customer ok. Once we ordered the wait time was ok but I thought 25 bucks for two people to eat fast food fish may be a little high. Our food was good...nothing special but not bad either. The tables in the dining room were dirty. We had to clean our own. Overall I think this place has good food and it's almost worth the money. We will try again. read more

This is one of my favorite places to grab a bite when I am in Missouri (how I wish this change was out West)! The breading on the fish is wonderful. I have never had a greasy piece of fish here. I love the little crackling bits they serve with the fish. The hush puppies are flavorful, although a little undercooked. I think that their tartar sauce is exceptional. Sides are all good. $7.00 for three pieces of fish and a couple of sides is a good value. I do think not including the drink is not a good thing. Feels so much better to eat here than to consume another burger! read more

Visited over the weekend with my family. Service wasp of, restraint was clean, food was decent. But not fresh. I had 3 battered fish and they were lukewarm and tasted a little old. I like to smother them in Malt Vinegar so I was able to get some juiciness in them, but fresh would have been so much better. My wife and kids has chicken strips which also were a little old and not hot. All in all it was edible, but I expect fresh food when I go out and this didn't cut it. read more

OMG! Just ordered here on my way home to Festus from Arnold. Just threw up everything I ate. I should have known when I pulled in not to order because I smelled old oil in the air. Ok. I love Captain D's. Straight up. But this location will have you waiting atleast 20 minutes for your food. I think that is every Captain D's though. There aren't any hot chicks that work here to stare at while you are waiting, but generally it is worth the wait. read more

Terrible lunch. I ordered tilapia scampi and I couldn't eat it because the fish tast was horrible. The smell was even bad and the fish was brown on the bottom. Can't believe they can charge you and more than that,,,,serve this to customers. If I had not gone thru the drive-thru and taken my meal back to work, I would have certainly took it back. I at least got to eat the green beans and midget roll. The rest...the outside dumpster got!!! Terrible, terrible, terrible. You won't get any more of my money Captain D's in Festus.
