I pulled in the drive-thru right behind another car. Their order was taken they moved around and I pulled up to the speaker ready to give my order. It was 9:05 pm. I sat there and waited and waited. The car that was in front of me got their food and circled back around and left. I waited some more. At 9:20 pm I started talking to the speaker trying to get someone's attention. I got no response which didn't make sense to me as there were only two cars in the whole parking lot when I pulled in. At 9:35 pm I drove off hungry and spent my money across the street at Cook out. that long a wait without even saying a word is unacceptable and just plain disrespectful. I have had amazing customer since I am on a cane and having to wear Walkin boots at this restaurant, then I've had since I moved to Monroe. Some changes are good, this was bad. Fish is half the size it used to be, requiring you to order the largest plate to get full, and now you have to choose between fries and hushpuppies or fries and cole slaw. You no longer have the option get all three and we weren't informed before ordering so it was very confusing and frustrating. We ended up with 15 hush puppies (due to ordering an extra order as we've always done). A LOT of food was wasted and this wouldn't have been the case had the plate format change been explained to us from the beginning. One employee was very irritated when I asked if I could have light ice as she was filling our drinks! She had put 3 scoops in BOTH cups. The employees at this place do not understand the concept of a combo order. According to menu, comes with a side, but depending on the server, "usually fries" If I ask 4 a diff side I'm charged menu price extra 4 it and slighted the fries. For greasy fried seafood, we go to Captain D's to satisfy our cravings. Captain D's is very similar to Long John Silver's and offers a very similar menu of fried seafood, chicken planks, hush puppies, and more. The Deluxe Seafood Platter which has batter dipped fish, shrimp, seafood stuffed crab shells, hush puppies, fries, and cole slaw is very filling and tasty. My family has been faithful customers of Captain D's for about 35 years plus now but for about the past year and half Ive noticed that Captain D's located in Monroe don't give me much food??Like maybe 5 fries if I'm lucky ..today it was the same deal a small piece of southern style fish and 1 hush puppie(that was extremely cold) and about 6 fries .I had to leave their go across the street 2 Wendy's and finished getting filled up!That's some straight BS! Hell i could have eaten a steak cheaper @ Quincy's up the street buffet and everything!Alot better food!I'm honestly not sure why are they discriminating against me so bad???I honestly didn't want to complain because i love Captain D's so very much but when i saw every other customer get their plates bolted over with soo much food I just had to speak out :( Captain D's charged me and my 78 year old mother $18.00 for her one piece of battered dip fish and two sides {Child's plate}senior tea and coffee and my one piece southern style fish and small tea !Had we NOT gotten senior citizen for my moms discount it been over $20.00!That's NOT Good :( read more

On 7/31/20 I visited the drive thru at this store and ordered 2 4-piece fish dinners. Upon arriving home I determined that the two dinners only had 3 pieces in them. This is not my first dissatisfaction with this particular location. They are poorly staffed and almost always manage to make mistakes with my orders. Due to virus restrictions on in-restaurant dining, one would think the fast food stores would make an extra effort to make sure diners were happy with their services. Almost all drive thru locations now make mistakes with filling their orders. I strongly encourage people to take the time while parked at the pick up window to thoroughly go through their order to make sure it is correct. You will avoid wasted time to return and disappointment to find out later your order was not properly filled. read more

We should've known we were in for an "experience" when we had to sidestep a minimum of three large splatters in the parking lot that suspiciously looked like dried on vomit (there were other splatters that we were not about to go investigate. They need to take a power washer to that parking lot); however, once inside, the place was pretty clean. Typical fast food fried fish house. Everything seems to have gone from freezer to fryer to plastic plate. My husband and I each ordered the lobster and crab platter. Comes with 2 strips of battered white fish of unknown determination, a breaded crab cake which was pretty much no crab and all cake, six little nuggets of minced lobster and filler (tastes like surimi), six breaded butterflied shrimp, two hushpuppies, and two choices of sides. I opted for standard fries and green beans. My husband chose macaroni and cheese which was an upcharge and only a half scoop, and a baked potato, which was also an upcharge. When he asked if he get it loaded, which is a stated option, he was simply and unapologetically told no, because the counter person didn't want to amend the order. She just said, "No." When asked why not, her reply was, "Well, I already put it in this way." Not what you'd expect from someone who appeared to be in her 50's, and not some kid learning the ropes. I added on 5 more of the butterflied shrimp as a separate charge. I must state, these have to be the smallest butterflied shrimp I've ever seen in my life. We ordered fountain beverages, which were mostly ice, and no refills were offered the entire time we were there. We paid and sat. Table condiments included malt vinegar, and room temperature cocktail and tarter sauces in squeeze bottles. When our order was brought to us, we ate and left, without a further word from the woman behind the counter, who was leaving her station multiple times to bring items, including offered drink refills, to other tables. I did stop in the ladies room, which was in need of some attention, but certainly not the worst I've seen. Neither my husband nor I have been feeling well since a few hours after our visit, yesterday. I'm rethinking the freshness of that room temperature tarter sauce, and my poor judgement in trying a little of it, as is my husband. Not sure if the whole chain is bad, or just this location. We are undecided as to whether we will try another location, but will certainly not return to this one. read more

The fried green tomatoes are so thin all you can taste is the breeding. The tea is not sweet, what my husband ordered on has one piece of fish, one white fish, one crab where as in charlotte they give him three of each. I don't eat fish, but the tomatoes and his food were disappointments. read more

The worst Captain D's I've ever been to. And probably won't ever go to again. I was with my mother and we wanted shrimp plates without coleslaw, and substitute coleslaw for more fries. Yet, they had a shrimp basket that offered that (no coleslaw, just fries) but didn't offer it to us. We changed out order and ordered one of each after getting to the window. Got our food and they looked exactly the same. The un-knowledgable associate needs to get training on what the restaurant offers, because this was awful. The shrimp plate had popcorn shrimp mixed with larger fried shrimp which I'm pretty sure wasn't how it was supposed to be and the fries were awful. I will never go back here. Ever. read more

When you have a manager that has worked there since 1980, you can expect consistently, customer service, and quality food. This is the experience I have at Captain Ds. I come to this location each visit home. Too bad the closest one to me in Maryland has closed and the next closest is about 2 hours away. I prefer this Captain Ds over other locations. We have been eating there on Senior Day and most of the time is hot and good, but the size of a piece of fish are getting smaller.

WoW! The food is great. The sweat ice tea is awesome, and most of all there sanitation score is an "A". Great place for seafood.
