Crazy big catfish sandwich and some extras I didn't really need but did enjoy.
    Tom C.

This place is fairly far from where I live slightly closer to where I work, but still, it's a hike. Why do I go then? I go mostly because every once in a while, I really want to have some fried catfish and I appreciate the fact that along with my fried catfish, I can add four or eight fried shrimp to the order. That's a nice touch. I've actually never tried anything other than a fried catfish basket or sandwich along with the shrimp but, why mess with success. It's a chain, so things like tartar and cocktail sauce come in a prepackaged packet like some salad dressings but it's tasty enough. I could eat fried seafood every day but I know that's not a good thing so it's nice to be able to come here every once in a while and scratch that itch with a pretty decent version.

I tried this spot for dinner on a Friday after working late. I ordered delivery via Grubhub. I ordered the Shack Pack which included fries, fried fish, shrimp, hush puppies, & I think a soft drink. I also ordered the crab, shrimp, & roasted corn bisque cup. The bisque was my favorite. The food was hot upon arrival. I need to return & dine in so that I can observe the service.

Wonderful customer service, insane value, and delicious food. What could be better? Our first time here, but will definitely be coming back!

    Fish sandwich from Skrimp's.

First time visit, ordered a fish sandwich w fries. Not sure what to expect - but simply put, it was EXCELLENT! The only problem was a good one - the sandwich was HUGE, I was only able to eat half, it was delicious, so for me, it became two meals! Strongly recommend, my first visit won't be my last! file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/69/09/08542734-0A4A-403D-B8CB-F835022D7C17/78466478293__6191FD9D-F4DE-4C90-AC23-2697792DBF82.HEIC

Blackened Flounder sandwich full of lovely cooked fish

C'mon Over Here! I wholeheartedly rate this a 5 star, in their category of fresh, fast, and yummy semi-fast food. If you don't like food in a bag thru a drive thru, yet want something good in the fly, this place is for the seafood lover in You! So many options from fryed seafood to grilled. This place Gets Packed at lunch time, which is always a good sign, so I'd suggested placing an order for pickup if time is limited. Yet, BaaBee, you will not be disappointed! Now onto what I ordered. I wanted to order a shrimp po boy ( next time for sure) instead I went for the flounder sandwich, blackened. It's was delicious, I wanted to only eat half, but scarfed the whole thing down. I will say, I like more spice than this provided, but I get it! It was delicious after I kicked it up a notch to my liking. Fish cooked perfectly, sky high flounder with lettuce, tomatoes, and tartar sauce . OMGoodness!

Big Cat Samwich - picture does not do it justice

I stopped here today and ordered the big catfish sammich. It was really delicious and filling. The staff were very friendly. There was a decently sized patio and dining room. I'll probably be back to try one of the many other options, desserts, and sides.

    Big Cat Samwich

I ordered the Big Cat Samwich, which came with a decent portion of catfish. I had mine spicy fried and swapped the tartar sauce for the spicy Po'boy sauce. The flavor was good, but overall I was expecting a bit more from it. For dessert, I tried the nana puddin', and unfortunately, I can't recommend it. It tasted store-bought, with Cool Whip that wasn't fully mixed in and soggy cookies. Definitely not worth it--1/10, and honestly, it shouldn't be on the menu. On the upside, the restaurant itself had a cool, welcoming vibe, and the staff was friendly with no complaints there. Just be prepared to pay $0.60 extra if you want additional sauce.

Skrimp Shack is a regional chain that seems to have originated in the coastal region of Virginia, and only fairly recently made its way to the Carolinas. I had seen them billed as the chick fil a of the fish sandwich world, which is a lofty goal for sure. Typically the idea of fast food fish rings alarm bells, but I had heard good things, and I found myself in the area so I stopped in for lunch. The restaurant was clean and well decorated with a fun beachy vibe. The employees were friendly and overall it was a good vibe. I ordered a catfish sandwich but I think they misheard me and gave me a catfish basket instead. All good though! I like that you have to option to add some popcorn shrimp to your basket. It lets you try some shrimp without ordering a whole separate meal and instead only spending a couple extra dollars. My basket came with a side and I got the Mac and cheese. Def felt like it was lacking on the cheese. Overall I thought the food was decent, it reminds me of the fried seafood baskets you would get down in a beach town on vacation, which judging by the decor might be exactly what they are aiming for. I enjoyed my meal, not sure if this is the type of place I would go out of my way to find, but if I was in the area looking for a quick and decently priced meal I wouldn't think twice about popping in.

Fabulous! This was my first visit. I ordered the The Shack pack with the advice of the cashier. It was a nice mix for me. I ordered the haddock for a $2 up charge with shrimp with the spicy seasoning. The cornbread was soft and moist. The "skrimp" and fish were perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. The restaurant was clean.

Is this location still open? I've been by here 3 times over the last few months and they've been closed every time.

I ate lunch there about 6 weeks ago.

Do they have grilled options? Looking for my gluten free friend.

They also serve burritos, which looked really good. I asked the staff what they recommended, and I ended up getting the al pastor taco and one of the beef tacos. I can't remember the name of the beef taco, but both were delicious. They definitely do not skimp on the onions and cilantro, so if you like fresh toppings, you'll be happy. My beef taco was just a little tough, but it was still full of flavor and very enjoyable. The ordering process is simple. You order at the front, they give you a number, and then they call you when your food is ready. There are a few tables outside and small tables inside near the kitchen. During lunch, the other side of the restaurant was closed, but I could see the hidden speakeasy style dining area. It looked really cute, and I definitely want to check it out on my next visit. The only thing to keep in mind is the parking. I went during lunchtime, and the parking lot was packed. I had to drive around a few times before I found a spot, but it was worth it. Overall, I really enjoyed El Malo. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was looking for. I can definitely see this becoming my go to spot whenever I'm craving a quick taco. I'll definitely be back. :::writing If you're posting this on Yelp, I'd probably give it a 4.5 or 5 star vibe based on what you described.

I originally was going to place the order online, but they're online option said it was unavailable so I went inside and sat down at the bar. The service was OK though it seemed most people did not speak English, which is fine. It just made it kind of harder to communicate. That said the food was decent but the reason why I gave two stars was because I feel very misled on pricing. The menu showed Que Siberia tacos three for $12. Steak/Asada tacos for three dollars which brings my total to 15+ the two drinks. I thought she said it was $20.80 so I paid it with my card and gave her five dollars cash for a tip. I get to the car just to double check the transaction and she charged me 3499 on my card and took the cash. I went back inside to confront her about this advising. She completely overcharged me, and she only offered to give my six dollars tip back to me. I am now going to dispute the transaction with my bank because I was unable to resolve this issue. That's sad.

Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.
