Wednesday I ordered a pan of perch and wing combo. The fish was too greasy and the wings looked old and black also fried too hard.I called to complain to the manager Jennifer.She was rude and offered me two lemonades with my next order. I replied oh no I want my food sent back out cooked to my specifications. She said she would pass on my information to the owner. Today is Friday and I have yet to hear from anyone. Drove by a certain unnamed chicken establishment tonight around 6 p.m. intending to go in and order for takeout. It was found to be closed. In a pinch, my coworkers and I turned to Firehouse Steak and Lemonade for our chicken fix. I called to order at 6:50 p.m. The employee on the other line was quick but both helpful and sharp. We ordered two separate 10-wing dinners with mild sauce and another large chicken tender dinner with mild sauce. I was disappointed to find that it costs an extra $2.00 to have them put the sauce right on the wings. So, we got it on the side. At 7:45, the food arrived. It was delicious. The wing sizes were medium-small and fright in a light, crunchy batter. Of particular note was the seasoning of the batter, very present and pleasant while not in your face. The fries are seasoned as well, awesome. Cole slaw and bread slice included too. The mild sauce is different than most I have had, but definitely still good. In this case, just innocently different. One of the best deals around on seafood and chicken. Shrimp dinners, Fish dinners, Chicken dinners, all at reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. I usually go with the pIck 2 items for 9.00 (medium shrimp and leg & thigh). The breading here is that perfect greasy deliciousness...if I weren't health-conscious, I'd be eating here every day. As it is, I usually have leftovers when I order the Pick 2. They have $6 deals too...all plates (dinner included) come w/bread, coleslaw, fries and a can of soda. My husband's fave are the chicken gizzards. The wings are good too, and the fried okra here tops our favorites lists...even the kids like it. I love the medium shrimp, perfectly mix of breading to shrimp with that lemon pepper seasoning. My stomach's grumbling thinking about it. Lately, my 4 year old's been into a fried chicken phase. He liked Captain Hooks so much that literally our last visit last Friday, he sat in his seat, wordlessly (almost mechanically) shoving it down non-stop...like he was afraid it'd disappear if it he didn't finish it right away. The pieces aren't huge, but a good medium size. They have daily specials, and the Firehouse menu has tons of sandwich and wing options as well, but we always stick with the Capt Hooks side of the menu. We usually eat in. I'd recommend eating it on the spot, though, on occasion that we've carried out, it's still good (and so are the leftovers). Served in white paper bags contained in paper boats, it holds the heat pretty well. Good sized, comfortable dining area, chairs and booths. Televisions in each corner. Walk up counter service. They're always friendly to us and we usually don't have to wait longer than 15-20 minutes (for 4 meals). They're good about giving us time estimate and if it's longer than that, we stop into the Foot Locker next door to browse around til the food's ready. Plenty of parking in the lot. Horrible customer service We called and placed our order at 5:45 pm. We were told that our order would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant at approximately 6:15 and our order still wasn't ready. After waiting for an hour (remember we were given a 20 minute pick up time) we received our order in one large pan. I asked the lady at the counter if we could get a smaller pan to transfer some of the heavy food to and she told me I would have to pay! Ummm...we just paid $50 for the food, I don't think it was unreasonable to ask for another pan so all the food wouldn't squished together. You can get aluminum pans at the dollar store. Ordered from here last night through Postmates. I ordered the gyro cheeseburger, the spicy chicken sandwich and the pizza puff. Well I ordered fries with cheese with the gyro cheeseburger and specifically ordered only cheese on my burger, and my burger came with tomatoes, lettuce and ALOT of cucumber sauce. I also never received my cheese fries either. With the chicken sandwich I ordered mild sauce and instead received hot sauce. The food was average, but I was just disappointed in all the different errors that were made to my order. Thankfully for postmate's great customer service, I was able to get refunded. I ordered food from here back in mid September. This particular day I was so disappointed in them. First of, I placed for catering it was over 50 hot wings with another 20 pieces of lemon pepper chicken for delivery. I ordered two hours in advance because I know it can take long when it's around lunch time. However, every time I called to see where delivery was, they gave a really bad excuse that It was on its way when they said it would take an hour. I gave them 1hr and 30 minutes. Business to business catering orders should be less stressful than the experience we went through. Their staff is extremely rude and unfortunately, does not seem accustomed to working with tight deadlines. We placed an order for a large catered lunch for our business associates and upper management during an important end-of-month meeting. We were expecting to have our lunch arrive at noon, especially after confirming twice with the management of this establishment. After an hour and 30 minutes, our meeting had adjourned and we still had no food. When it finally arrived, an hour and 45 minutes later, only half or our order was presented to us. We had to call numerous times to ensure the remainder of our meal would be on its way, and we had to wait another hour before that food would arrive. Our finance department and upper management were not only very upset with the delivery issues we faced, they were appalled at the treatment they received when calling to inquire about our order arrangements. When we create a purchase order on their behalf, they expect results. We have several businesses that we order from for our monthly meetings, and while the food was amazing, the service was abhorrent. It is unfortunate that we can not have a business relationship with this establishment, as we have multiple locations in the Downtown/River North area, with monthly departmental meetings that need catering. I can only hope that the service INSIDE the restaurant is better than what we ended up with. After a confirmation call, 8 follow up calls, a three hour delay, and blatant dishonesty, I have to question the integrity of the employees. Very disappointed with the today; ordered 50 chicken and 50 perch and the perch was not fried right at all, it was soggy and soft and in pieces and I could not even tell if I had 50 pieces. Call management who apologized and said they were very busy this a.m. but it is no excuse for taking someone;s money and giving them a less than perfect product. I usually get their 20 pc jumbo shrimp and fries and share it with 2 other people. Between the 3 of us, we sometimes have problems finishing this. However, we sometimes will also get hushpuppies or a 10 pc wing, depending on how hungry we are. Their shrimp is truly jumbo and juicy and their breading is light. I really like the lemon pepper seasoning they put on. The wing sauce is really good; the hot sauce is a bit buttery and reminds me of the hooters wings sauce - it's not so hot as to burn your taste buds, but hot enough to have a kick. read more

The chicken pieces were so small that many had barely any meat in the bones! Very disappointing! Housed in the newer strip mall built here, the place is still on the very clean side, which is always a good first impression. It is a good idea to call ahead and place your order first, because sometimes the wait for an order can be a little on the long side. But the food is rather good, and the hot sauce on their chicken wings is tangy, but not scalding. They do also offer delivery, but whenever I have called for it, they have told me it may be around a two hour wait. All in all, a pretty good choice for lunch- and the prices are pretty fair. read more

After 15 minutes no food and when I asked how long it would be- they had not even started my order and apparently had 2 orders in front of me (the people who had ordered in the store ahead of me had already received their food. But we were surprised to get an email and a phone call from upper management apologizing. Kal said that he wants to keep our business and wanted to "make us happy". Then turned around and said they sent me the wrong food and they do have my food in stock. I asked them what they were going to do about the inconvenience. They first told me they will discount my next order. I told the associate that I didn't plan on ordering from them again. The associate said she will give me a big discount o the next order. I told her I wasn't interested. The manager, a woman, got on the phone and asked me what did I want a discount for. I stated the inconvenience and the time I spent waiting for the food which was an hour. She offered me 10%. I told her are you kidding me. my friend brought me here because we was craving for fried food and he suggested this place. its your typical fast food joint service here and the food comes out pretty quick. the place is kind of dirty but bearable to eat at. we ordered fried chicken wings, fish & chips, and onion rings. the chicken wings was pretty decent , it would of been great if the skin is more crispy. the fish taste fresh and the breading was light which is good! the fries and onion rings was just OK.. nothing special about it. will come back to try their jumbo shrimp and hush puppies that other people here is talking about! cant wait! read more

It smelled so good while driving home that I decided to just taste a little and OMG I fell in love. The shrimp were to die for! Fresh out of the grease. I consistently kept this up enjoying my meals even tho every single time I have it's taken far too long for my meal to be received. EVERY SINGLE TIME 30 to 45 mins minimum. On top of that the turn over rate for this small business is insane. New group of girls every time and EVERY SINGLE TIME.....HORRIBLE SEVICE. The girls are just always extremely rude and don't last. On this one particular day I was in a hurry. I arrived at 1:30 pm, place was empty as usual. My order was placed by 1:36 pm and the wait began. Ordered a turkey burger with cheese and an order of fried fish, both with fries. The food came out at 2:10 pm and I was once again a long my way. When I arrived to my destination which is less than 5 mins away right on Ashland road I inspected the bag to find NO cheese and NO turkey bacon on my buyer and the fries for both orders cold, and oh yeah one more thing no tarter sauce for the fish. Outraged I call back only interested in receiving the owners contact info, the girl put me on hold and hung up. Called right back and the next girl to answer got me the manager JENNIFER. Jennifer wouldn't get me the owners contact info but kept insisting I give her my info and they would be in touch. I would not accept that as a solution so she offered to replace both meals. BOTH MEALS. Less than a week later I go back to speak with her in person and receive my 2 free meals. They got my ID showed JENNIFER from a distance. and from the same distance she said NO ONLY THE BURGER MEAL IS BEING REPLACED. and there from a distance Jennifer stayed.
