Perch combos

Food and service was great! It was cooked fresh and fast. Manager was helpful and working well with his staff to get food out fast and accurately. I would definitely recommend you giving it a try if you want GOOD food. It's my favorite chicken and fish place to come too when I'm home in the city! Try it!

Over cooked Chicken wings cooked in old oil.

I ordered a 10 pc, chicken wing combo that includes fries, Cole slaw, and bread for $15.99. The chicken was fried in old burned oil, Cole slaw was in a small soufflé cup, one slice of bread and the fries was the only thing that was decent. They had several young kids working there. I will never patronize this establishment again. Very disappointed!!

I ordered whiting and five wings. The wings were pink in the inside. What a FUKN joke of a business this is. They have kids cooking and running this location. I'm taking these wings back!!! They trying to kill me with this pink ass meat!!!

Catfish and fries with lemon pepper.

This is one of the many Captain Jays around the Detroit and metro Detroit and the chain is steady growing. I have visited this location numerous times and I have the same experience every time. Some Captain Jays have mini grocery stores inside of them and this location does. This can be very convenient if you do not want to visit a grocery store for basic items. It's always pretty clean here and they have tvs to watch while waiting for your food. The service is always fast and the staff is quick and polite most of the time. The women behind the counter can have an attitude sometimes. I have yet to have a bad meal from here. They fry the fish perfectly (not too hard, not too soft) and the fries are wonderful. They dust the fries and fish with lemon pepper and they charge you $1 if you want extra, which is kind of extreme. You know how with some places, the food is great one day and the next, it isn't? Captain Jays is pretty consistent. This is the only location is Southfield (which is where I live now) so I will definitely continue to come here when I'm craving catfish.

A good rule of thumb in the restaurant business is to serve fresh food. No one appreciates paying for food that has been reheated. Unfortunately I have to give 1 star instead of 0.

Food is never ready on time, always end up waiting for a call in, understaffed, crappy customers, food is good.

Wings were undercooked, staff was rude and the order was incomplete. We had to finish cooking the wings in the air fryer. 0 stars

The wings are my favorite! That's seasoning is the best- I don't care for the sauce- hate the wheat bread- fries are fried-

Fried chicken was very good, Crispy and juicy. Some of the best I've had. Fries were also very good and full of flavor.

Waves Inn - A True Detroit Gem with the Best Fish in the Country!…read more Waves Inn is hands down the best fish market in the country and has gone unrecognized for far too long. Their Perch, Whiting, and Pickerel are cooked to absolute perfection, crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. And the shrimp is simply the best fried shrimp you can find anywhere bar none. What really sets Waves Inn apart is not just the quality but the portions and prices. The portion sizes remind me of the good old days, the kind of generous servings you would get back in the 80s. And the prices feel like a blast from the past. In a time where everything is overpriced, Waves Inn continues to serve incredible food at prices that make you feel like you are getting an unbeatable deal. Being from Detroit, I used to work at a fish market 37 years ago and I still remember the owner saying that Waves Inn was our biggest competitor. They outlasted us by about 34 years and it is no surprise why. They have stayed true to what makes a great fish market, quality, value, and consistency. Kudos to the ownership for keeping the tradition alive and continuing to serve some of the best seafood you will ever have. If you love seafood, do yourself a favor and get to Waves Inn. You will not regret it!
