Ordered the fish sandwich which is on a sourdough bread with onion, lettuce, sweet pickle and there own sauce, comes with fries which are average, tartar sauce and an aoli dipping sauce. I really enjoyed the sandwich. We also ordered a fish basket that came with fries, sauces and 3 pieces of battered cod, decent pieces of cod with a nice batter around them, not a lot of flavor by themselves but either of the dipping sauces compliment it well Also ordered the slaw which was a drier slaw and I did not think tasted very well but the chowder made up for it if. Love this place! Don't get to go as much as we would like. I am reading some reviews that really aggravate me. Lack of ambiance???? It's a fish truck. Don't go if you want ambiance. It's fun to get it and have a picnic in your vehicle or a nearby park! Really petty. It's is not reheated fish. Yes, they have to get the product ready and then bring it to remote areas that don't have the opportunities to have good fish and fries and clam chowder. The clam chowder is really good and so is the fish and fries. Personally, they could improve the coleslaw but maybe they have. Haven't tried it for a while. This is a food truck that travels around north central Washington. I had heard good things from friends. We went to Grand Coulee for lunch there today. Excellent service with a smile. There can be a wait of standing around waiting for your order but it is totally worth it. I cook fish. And this was fried correctly and tasted like a fishing harbor town restaurant. That fresh tasting. No. It's not cheap. But I have had worse in many a sit down restaurant. read more

Super nice & friendly employees, customer service alone was 5 star worthy. I ordered the cod fritters basket & a bowl of clam chowder. I wasn't a fan of the breading they use cause it made the fish taste too dry, but dipped in tarter sauce they were yummy. Fries were good (I like that they are fried in peanut oil) & the aioli dipping sauce was SO good. But the star of the show for me was their homemade clam chowder, by far the best chowder I have EVER had. Next time they come to our area & am buying a big order of chowder so I can have leftovers. If they just would have used a different batter on their fish this would have been a 5 star review. read more

They are a food truck, so there is no "ambiance" to speak of unless you consider standing around in lines to order and pick up and visiting with strangers outdoors ambiance. I ordered the fish & chips and the food was poor to mediocre. Their signature cod was premade with breading and probably frozen, then just heated and served. Any cook will tell you that quality fish for this is hand dipped in batter just before being placed in the oil fryer. Not so here. The french fries were soggy, not crisp, and tasted like they were fried in the same oil as the fish. Unappetizing. The staff was polite and friendly, the only reason I give them two stars instead of one. I can understand now why they only show up to a location for one day stands.....if word got out about their poor food quality they would be run out of town. read more

Very disappointed!! Great customer service and even great fish product probably at one time, but it's been frozen, very watery, and the coating is very sub-standard. The chowder was 'ok'. I grew up on the east coast and know good quality fish & chips, & chowder. That said, with a few changes, you could probably be a few stars ahead of where you're at now. I always like to offer some positive, so if you're able to change to a properly battered fresh piece of cod, I'll be back, but this present product is like smashing the poor cod over the head and making it's death a tragedy read more

We frequent Captain's Cod fish truck about once a month. Typically it is very good but they were not on point today. Fish was in the fryer too long and one set of fries were not hot. The hot set of fries were skimpy while the colder set were plentiful. Hopefully better next time. read more

Love their story! Finally able to know where my seafood comes from! They get it right from their longline boats in Dutch Harbor! Great tasting fish and chips! It was flaky and moist! You can tell this is good quality fish! The cod sandwich was surprisingly delicious! Never had one before and I can't wait to go back to get it again! Also the clam chowder is to die for! Best I've had! I dip my fritters in the chowder! Great customer service with friendly staff! Just ask them questions about their boats- they love to talk about it! We will be back!! read more

Cod is very dry - literally tasted like frozen fish sticks. Portion is small for the price point. Basically, three sticks basket for $ 15! Chips are ok. The best of the options is actually the cod fritters. Good amount of fish in the fritter. Chowder is just OK. read more

passed their food truck while running errands with my husband. had never seen a food truck where they were parked so I looked them up. they were going to be in that location just for the day. we decided to try them for lunch on our way back; so glad we did. we both had a 3pc cod w/ fries and shared an order of coleslaw. like other reviewers commented, it appeared like the fish portions were small. maybe it's some sort of optical illusion in the takeout container or something, 3 pieces was more than plenty. the cod had a panko type breading and which was crisp; the fish was tasty and juicy, not greasy. loved the fries, nice and thick cut yet crisp on the outside. the tarter and fry sauce that came with our meals were both very good, didn't need or miss ketchup. the coleslaw was fresh and tasted okay but was missing something, I prefer a creamier coleslaw so maybe that's why I didn't love it. still glad I ordered it, nice to have some slaw with fish and chips. our meals left us very satisfied and stuffed. $ breakdown: 2- 3pc cod & chips (sauces included), 1 coleslaw and 1 bottle of water, plus tax and tip= a little over $40. along w/ the delicious lunch, the folks working the truck were very nice. hope Captain's Cod Co food truck finds their way back to an area near me sometime soon. read more

The fish is okay, but not the best I've ever had. They bread the fish rather than use batter which makes it a bit off putting. The clam chowder would be excellent if they didn't put so much pepper in it. read more

The fish was very dry. Maybe over cooked. I had a 3 piece fish and chip with two small chowder pluse tip was almost $38.00 not very happy for that amount of money. The chowder was good had more bacon than class but very tasty. read more

I wish I'd seen a pic of the food before ordering. I wouldn't have ordered. It is breaded not battered. You just taste the heavy greasy breading. The appearance was not good as well, looked like slightly bigger fish sticks we had as kids. We won't be returning. PS We visited the truck in Cle Elum. You've been warned. read more

We always look forward when their truck stops by in Tri-cities. TC isn't known for good food and for whatever reason no good seafood either except for the one seafood boil joint and another Cajun truck. I get their fish sandwich and my husband gets the fish basket. Both are really good! Love the toasted sourdough bread and their creamy white sauce which I assume is their tartar sauce or dill sauce. I had their fritters recently and it's a mix of hush puppies and fish. That was good too. Their breading stays crispy regardless if it's the sandwich, fish sticks, or fritter. Judging by taste and texture this definitely isn't frozen fish here. Their chowder is consistently good too! They don't skimp on putting clams in there like most places do. Kudos to this place for bringing great food & doing a great job! read more

Nothing special, really. The cod was flavorless and bland, tasted like wet socks in your mouth. The only reason why this didn't get one star is because their aioli is incredible, oh my goodness! However, that's pretty much it. We were excited to try this as people have been telling us how great Captain's Cod is, but we'll gladly skip this place from now on. read more

Had the fish today in Yakima. It was very lightly breaded and you could taste the quality of the fish. Most places in Eastern Washington smother it in a heavy batter and has no taste. The people are great!! I definitely will follow there schedule around. Best fish east side of the mountains!!! By the way the clam chowder is home made and taste great!! read more

Not only are the staff rude and short with you when you have a complaint and you Lodge it on Facebook they have you blocked from Facebook I would not suggest spending any of my money with these people as their food is very bland and tasteless no salt no pepper no nothing read more

We've heard all about how incredible Captain's Cod is, but when we got two orders of their fish baskets we were left unimpressed. The fish baskets were advertised with lemon wedges, we received none. Cod was flavorless and heavy, and I could hardly get through two pieces of fish. Fries were pretty good, their sriracha aioli and tartar sauce was excellent as well. The service was pretty quick too. But the fish itself was mediocre at best. Perhaps we're just used to eating on the coast? Either way, it didn't wow us like people said it would. read more
