Generous order of delicious fries with plenty of sauce or catsup!
    Scott B.

The "Hot Rod Cafe" is another sports themed hamburger hang-out. The walls are adorned with license plates, road signs, and gas station marquees. 50s furniture fills the dining hall. The interior is an open space, very casual, and decorated in a vintage motif. There's even room in the parking lot to work on your car, or wait for your other club members to arrive. If you're in shorts and flip-flops with a sun-visor hat, this is your kind of place. Ordering food isn't easy; all menu items are renamed as race car terms. It took awhile to figure out that a deluxe cheeseburger is a "Duramax". Nonetheless, selected food items are worthy of mention. The French-fries are delicious, a generous portion, and served with house-made dip (some combination of mayonnaise, catsup and bbq or smoke flavoring). And/or plenty of catsup is an alternative. The deluxe cheeseburgers are $7.95. They're stacked with all the garnishes you would want - lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, and that house sauce. The meat patties are restaurant-supply grade. They make weight, but the meat is not seasoned. So all the flavor comes from the garnishes and sauce. The burger was flavorful, but the cold plain bun out of the package should have been grilled, or at least heated. See the pics. Everything was good. 3-Stars is good, right? We are going to come back for the fish baskets... others have raved!

    Manpower issues lead to closure.

I came here a long time ago with my family on our way to/from someplace to the East. The food was solid, though oddly enough the corndog was the standout. I had been used to the fresh corndogs served at fairs, and this was not quite that, but still tasty. The burgers were the best of what any of us ordered. We found the ice cream to be a miss all around, just didn't meet the flavors of the rest of the food we had. Came across as a bit of a mismatch in product quality. Service was friendly though a little curt. More recently I tried coming here with my uncle and my aunt in August 2021 and we arrived to find a sign in the door communicating the restaurant was closed for two days due to labor shortages. Nice of them to post that at the entrance. I recently tried to go to a movie where the cinema randomly was closed, but its closure was not communicated anywhere online nor on the premises. So that Hot Rod Cafe communicated they were closed the day we came was much appreciated.

    Great Fish N Chips!

This cafe has great diner food. We ordered fish and chips, chicken strips and fries and the Duramax burger. 1. The fish is some of the best I've had. 2. The fries were the best I've had. 3. The picky eater kids ate every single bite of their kids chicken strips and fries. 4. The Duramax burger was (per the person eating it) fantastic! The inside is a little spartan and there was no music, kind of quiet but really, who cares, the food was great. Also, price, very, very reasonable. I don't think anything was over $10. Oh, lest I forget, their chocolate shakes are the food of the gods.

My wife and stopped in here will vacationing in the area. Tired looking 50s auto theme; the feel was probably tainted by having to deal with the COVID. The bacon cheeseburgers were tasty along with a very generous order of fries, but nothing special.

I've been going to this place since it was Tom, Dick and Harry's. The restaurant itself was a bit more interesting back then - more vintage memorabilia inside, and a broken jukebox. It's still a good place to go, and you get a LOT of food for the price! Doesn't hurt that there is always a pretty girl there to serve you. Not much to see in the town of Monitor, but the Hot Rod Cafe is worth the drive.

Fish and chips and a burger were both good. Friendly service and an obvious car theme both made it a great stop on our way to Winthrop.

It's Burger King on steroids! You won't find tomatoes on the menu board, but almost every other combination of garnish (and companion meats) are options. I went with their stated classic, the "OG Mission" ('original gangster') burger. It is delicious, albeit noticeably greasy, due to the extra-high fat content of the ground beef. But that's where the rich flavor comes from. What Mission Burgers is doing right is highly seasoning the meat with salt and pepper, then punching up the flavor with pickles, red onion, and their special sauce. Add to that the richness of the cheese and the crusty, grilled bun--this is the winning combination at the base of all their other burger options. The other thing I really appreciate is, their straightforward pricing without trying to upsell their ingredients. The add-ons are inexpensive--slice of cheddar is $.50 compared to EZ's $1.47 for the same. Two suggestions: - drain the grease off the patties before assembly, - don't fold the wrapper in half... wrap the burger in a full sheet, stronger paper if necessary, keep it from leaking all over clothing. (I'll be back to check! :-) Otherwise, this is a 5-Star burger! (see the menu board pic attached for all the other options, including chicken)

Over the last year Sherrie and I have gravitated from their burgers to their chowder...probably have had it about 20 times. We've even bought Ivar's Clam Chowder from Costco to compare them. Ivar's has more creaminess and less clam flavor, and though Ivar's from Costco is the low-cost leader, it doesn't compare with EZ's "Dock" brand. I finally interviewed EZ's about it. The recipe is the owner's. "Docks" is the owner's copyrighted brand. It is fully prepared from scratch on site and I believe it is only sold out of this location. Dizzy D's - Burger Joint or Restaurant…read more I have to stick with a neutral 3-Star rating, as I haven't tried any of Dizzy D's burgers (and there are many). But I did have a Chef Salad, a Philly Cheese sandwich, a Club House sandwich and a Potato Salad side serving. The big question for me: Is Dizzy's a burger joint trying to be a restaurant? If the Philly Steak sandwich is any measure, Dizzy's is a restaurant--the Philly Steak is delicious. Not only the flavor of the meat and its generous portion, but the pairing of cheese and bell pepper takes this entrée over the top. But I do notice the at-onetime-side of fries, has become a small slice of toast, which makes no sense as the side to a hoagie bun (or was it meant for the salad with croutons?--either way, who wants bread with their bread. Still, top marks for the Philly (with or without fries)! Otherwise, the Chef Salad and the Club House sandwich were both exercises in processed food--the same cold cut meats used in both. Whether you like your luncheon meat with lettuce, or with bread, you're in for the same experience at the same price. My point: neither are restaurant quality because the 1/16" thin slices of ham and turkey, and yellow-n-white cheeses, and bacon...can't compete with the major restaurants in Wenatchee who slice fully-cooked ham and turkey. Yet the menu prices at Dizzy's are within a dollar of those at Rail House, or McGlinns, or even Denny's. The potato salad side is just a courtesy side dish. The single slice of pickle on top doesn't make it a flavor pairing. I think Reser's Potato Salad from WinCo would be a better choice. I will return for the cheeseburgers...promise! After all, Dizzy's has been around for at least 16 years--that's to their credit; they've got to be doing something right, right? It certainly isn't their lunch meat offerings. Finally, gotta say, the guy cooking, and the Gal at the window were both charming, great service providers!

I ordered mine without zucchini because it's just not a breakfast veggie to me lol. I did not notice or taste any pesto in the dish but the hollandaise was excellent on top. I could barely finish my hash so I didn't touch the biscuit and gravy but our daughter will have it for leftovers this week. Randy ordered the pig and vine bene with hash browns. The bacon on his was crumbles instead of actual pieces of bacon so that was disappointing and he said the hash browns were cooked inconsistently with some of it being overcooked and all of it lacking flavor.
