    I was pondering this one for awhile. I'm a huge fan of well made and crabmeat rich cakes. But my idea of a great CC has pretty steep standards, most restaurants I try them at fall short. When I see them on a menu I'll rarely try unless I'm sure of the restaurant's high standards on other ingredients and dishes. Even then it's like a 50/50 gamble. I was nearby enjoying a lobster lunch and saw the sign at the shopping center's entrance. Wha wha what? Crab cake store? I had to go. This is a small shop with one refrigerated case and a few more frozen cases. After speaking with the manager I selected 3 CCs and a few things from the frozen cases. I liked all of the crab cakes, the mega was my favorite though. This was a larger one with lump crab and also filler. I'm not a filler hater if there's crab meat mixed in and the taste is good. And that's a good description of this one. The one containing almost all meat was good too. I even enjoyed the less meat one that had Gouda mixed in. But I don't think any of these would be reordered if I had them at a restaurant. The frozen items were less enjoyable, the clam was ok but needed a lot more clam in it. The lobster Mac was not very good. The meat was diced up and only on the top, and much of that meat was the parts of the claw you really don't even want to eat( use that stuff to make bisque if anything!) Even the Mac itself was just fair. There were a few items in the freezer that I was interested in that I might have to return to I try, some stuffed breads and stuffed pasta. Also of note, they sell whole Stock's pound cakes. As for me, I don't get the pound cake passion, but I know it's a Philly and S. Jersey thing. To sum up, I think this is a cool place for locals, and I know of one who stops here once in awhile. I would revisit if nearby.

    Maryland Crab Soup

    I had such high expectations for this place since I had heard so much sponsored advertising on the radio, but what a disappointment. I had both the lobster bisque and Maryland crab soups, and both barely had any meat in them. There wasn't a single lump of meat in either soups - just small shreds. I suppose that would be fine for a canned soup from the grocery store, but not for the prices and claims ("rich Maine lobster meat," and "oodles is crab meat") of this place. I also tried four different crab/shrimp cakes and they ranged from bad to okay. The shrimp cakes were the best tasting. The smith island signature crab cakes had a decent amount of meat, but lacked the fresh crab flavor. The rock hall crab cake was just bad. The quality of the seafood is not great and it's certainly not fresh. It seems like the business is based on thawing frozen seafood and selling it as purportedly fresh seafood. One positive was the Talluto's lobster raviolis. They were probably the beat lobster raviolis I've ever had and were definitely worth the price. I'll definitely be looking for more Talluto's in the future.

    Wow this place is a little gem for all your fresh seafood needs! The food was absolutely delicious. All homemade and unbelievably fresh! The shop is neat and clean and offers so many fresh and frozen options, along with friendly service. The shrimp are huge and classically delicious. The mini crab cakes had no fillers and were perfectly seasoned. The sabi sauce is like a creamy remoulade sauce that goes great with them. The wasabi crab dip served with crackers will be your new go-to appetizer for parties and way tastier than traditional recipes that are mostly cream cheese. Can't wait to go back and stock up!

It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very flavorful. The mashed potatoes were my favorite and I think I've gotten them every time I've gone. I wouldn't get the street corn again- it was fine, but it didn't really taste authentic. My sister loved her burger and ate almost the whole thing. She ate the fruit and some fries too. It was definitely a lot of food for her at a reasonable $10.

Still not worth $18, but much better than the burger. I had a Yards Washington Porter with my burger that slightly helped my disappointment. This place only gets the 4th star because I love history and the building has it. It was just OK other than that. So, while there is no actual nearby pier, this area is very wet and full of earthen dams and dikes, and is a great place for fishing and hunting. This rustic restaurant has been around for decades in the hands of the same family. When we arrived at 6 p.m. the dining room was full but for the recently cleared table which we quickly took. Lori was our server. She was great from start to finish. We started with their small styro bowl of Crab Bisque. It was thick and tasty, and perhaps a tad salty. Liked it. I followed that with English style Fish & Chips, and my friend went with Fried Stuffed Flounder and Breaded Eggplant. I think mine was made with cod. With a splash of Heinz malt vinegar the taste and texture were decent, but not what I devoured visiting England. The coined potato medallions were very good dipped in tartar sauce. The stuffed flounder seemed prefabricated and frozen rather than fresh and made in their kitchen. It was not what we were hoping for. The atmosphere of Under the Pier was actually the better part of the experience. Maybe their oysters and other locally sourced crustaceans are the better way to go to avoid freezer boredom. Three Chowdery Stars.
