I was so pleased that David was willing and able to get my car diagnosed and repaired... and super fast! When my check engine light came on, I initially took it to the dealer for a diagnostic (nearly $300). They told me it was my head gasket and it would cost $6700 and take 2 weeks to repair my car. Thankfully, I said no and took my car to Car Science for a second opinion. David found that it was not the head gasket, but in need of spark plugs and a new ignition coil. I have taken everything from off road trucks, modified sports cars, and all of our daily driven vehicles (domestic and import) to David for over a decade. David is highly experienced and excellent at diagnosis. Doesn't hurt that he has a solid team of techs to support him. I've blown up my track car and was able to drop the car off on a Sunday and leave the keys in the drop box so they can check it out when they open on Monday. They takes care of customer cars and I always feel safe leaving vehicles in his care. Their waiting area offers comfortable seating and free WiFi while you wait for your car to be ready. I was referred to David by a friend. I have a 2001 GMC Denali and had David work on my drivers window that would not open. I also had his repair my exterior door lock that somebody broke during an attempted break in. This was the tricky one. Since my truck is so old, he had a hard time finding some of the clips that hold the lock together. David had to fabricate a few pieces. When he finished everything worked as promised. Great Work. Years ago, I took my daughter's 2005 Nissan Sentra for an engine oil changed, after it was done, I drove it home while on the freeway the car started smoking and when I got home, I pulled out the dip stick and found out was dry no oil in the engine. I drove it back to the shop and told the people there what had happened and one of the guys there started blaming me that I drain the oil myself, isn't this a stupid accusation? why would I put my own daughter in a harm's way. My boyfriend was a regular at Car Science for the maintenance of his Tacoma truck for the past year. He really respected the business and felt 100% comfortable taking my Mercedes there for a major repair job. After spending $1500 the car drove like new. the next day upon leaving the shop the check engine light came back on during our morning carpool to work. My boyfriend took it back in and found out it was an emission part that was not working properly. He received a quote on paper to have it repaired for $524. The next week I took the car back to have it repaired. I personally called and informed David who I was and that I would be there Saturday morning. I had never gone into the shop and my boyfriend had taken care of all details the first time. When I arrived my car was fixed within an hour. However the issue occurred when it was time to pay for services. David provided me with a bill for $790 even though he had quoted on paper to my boyfriend that it was $524. I was shocked! I provided the paper quote that my boyfriend had received a week ago for $524. David quickly changed the price from $790 to $555. In the end I was disgusted that women are still being taken advantage of for auto repairs. My boyfriend trusted this business and trusted that while he was out of town on military business that I would be treated the same way as if he brought the car in. A Mechanic you can truly trust! There are several local auto mechanic businesses out there, but it is so hard to find a mechanic you can really entrust with your car. David and the guys that work at Car Science are awesome! They do a good job because they really know what they are doing. I take my Honda to David all the time for repairs, tire changes, and tune ups. He always advises me on what I need to do to keep my car safe and running properly so it will last me for a long time. He also saved me from spending money I didn't need to spend couple months back when another mechanic scared me and told me I shouldn't be driving and I needed to change my breaks. I brought it to David for a second opinion, and he told me truthfully that I was still able to drive without replacing the brakes for another 2-3 months!. I Just recently brought my car in to get my brakes fixed, tires rotated, and transmission fluid changed and I feel much more confident now taking my car out for longer drives. My safety comes first and David always insures that. Plus the setting in their shop is nice and clean, well kept up that I don't mind waiting in there to get work on my laptop done. Tina that helps out inside the reception desk is also very nice and very pleasant with all the customers and the rest of the local community. He also will be helping me replace my visors that broke off in my car, and wont be charging me crazy labor prices vs what the dealer would charge me. So I am a 22 yr old woman that was taken advantage of (financially) elsewhere, and that place still didn't fix my problem. So I show up here at Car Science and meet David, and right away I am given straight talk. David basically figures out how to trouble shoot my problem (O2 sensor), cause I needed to pass my smog test. The previous location simply replaced my part for a RIDICULOUS fee, and basically said ok good luck. After David worked his magic for less an hour I was left both happy and pissed. First, I was happy that he fixed my problem, but secondly I was pissed that the first place charged $600 when I should have paid around $100. Lesson learned and now I know who to trust, and that seems to be rare in automotive repair. So if you want a straight shooter at affordable pricing then PLEASE go see David at Car Science. I've been going to this shop for about 3 years now. I've brought them 4 different cars to be worked on and the outcome everytime has been phenomenal. The first time I ever stopped by I brought a 2012 Silverado in to have the brakes checked since I was told they needed changing. I was assured and shown that the brakes had a good amount of life left. I now bring my mustang in to get serviced and always leave with a great feeling. I recently had all my lines flushed and refilled, brakes changed, and rear diff fluid changed. The difference when I got in the car was immediate. These guys know what they're doing. Amongst the entire mess of getting proof that my car won't pass smog at the DMV, these guys made it a bit easier for me. Originally I was going to go to another place right across the DMV but the guy working it was a complete disgrace, disrespectful and very rude to me. I've taken my other car here a year ago to have it smogged and they did a pretty good job. David helped me out and was pretty straightforward with me. My check engine light has been on for over a year and I don't wanna spend $1000 on a new catalytic converter. I just need proof that it won't pass so it gives me an extension period so I can get a new car. I told him this exact story and he didn't try to up sell me on anything or try to see if he could fix anything. Smog and out, that's all I needed and these guys provided it. This is in response to the comment posted by the business owner. I have not returned nor have I tried to contact the business again. I'd like to clarify a couple more details, especially fact versus opinion, and close the matter. First, the facts: - None of the vehicles that were listed in his comment was the vehicle that my original review was based off of. My review was based off of the service on my boyfriend's car. I recommended this business to my boyfriend because I was satisfied with the service before the business change. - I posted about the wrong oil being used because according to the car's manual 5W-20 is the suggested oil. According to the receipt that was not the oil used. - The owner did privately message me wanting to respond to my concerns and was very transparent about how he takes my review seriously. He also was upfront about contacting him to address the issue and also provided the contact information to report fraudulent service. Fact&Opinion: With regard to the brake pads, it was claimed that they need to be replaced for my boyfriend's car. When brought to another auto repair shop, that mechanic said that they didn't- so it comes down to the opinion of the mechanic. Fact: my boyfriend has had no brake problems since the oil change service without any replacement of the brake pads. My opinions: - I realize in the owner's comment that there are alternate oils that they may use depending on the environmental conditions, without necessarily being "wrong." My suggestion is moving forward to confirm what oil, if different from what is suggested in the car's manual, will be used before the service is performed. - I do feel that this business wants to make right and I appreciate the follow up and diligence to respond to my original review. Thus, I increased the rating two stars because of the intent to improve; they welcome and want to resolve customer concerns. read more
