Many people evaluate their purchasing choices, partially on reviews of the business they are considering. I do this as well. My recent transaction happened to be needing new front speakers on my older Toyota Prius. Dale (install) and Zack were highly professional, informative and willing to provide me the best price possible. I left in less than 45 minutes with new speakers and a fresh perspective on how Car Toys 2.0 does business. I was very pleased and completely satisfied with how they conduct themselves in such an informative and transparent way. Just last week, I brought my boat in with a stereo issue (not working). Dale diagnosed the issue (free of charge) for me and we decided my old Kenwood stereo was going to need replacing. I will bring the boat in this week for a Kenwood swap out. I believe, strongly, that when people work hard to treat you right and provide you a high level of customer service and value, it needs to be acknowledged JUST AS MUCH as those experiences which warrant a negative review. I had all my windows tinted at Car Toys about a year ago. Recently, I got pulled over for having an illegal tint--something I wasn't aware of--so I went back to have the front windows redone to meet legal limit. When I arrived, I was told that the original Car Toys had gone bankrupt and this was a new company using the Car Toys name, which was confusing and concerning. I was quoted $250 to remove and re-tint the two front windows and was even told I was getting a "good deal." They asked me to leave them a review, so I assumed everything would be straightforward. When it came time to pay, I stepped away for a work call and left my wife to complete the payment. Without realizing it, we were charged $371--nowhere near the agreed price. This was NOT $250 + tax, and the extra charges were never explained or authorized. They added additional, unnecessary items to the bill. I brought this up immediately, and the manager repeatedly told me I would receive a refund within seven business days--but refused to put anything in writing. I gave them the full seven days, and of course, no refund ever showed up. At this point, it's clear this is not the same Car Toys, and the new company is not operating with honesty or transparency. Please stay away from this "new" company using the Car Toys name. The lack of communication, hidden charges, and empty promises are unacceptable. read more

I have lost all respect for this business. I went into the puyallup WA store today and I noticed there are no prices listed on anything in the store. That means they can charge whatever they want now for the equipment. I asked multiple people for prices and they told me to go push some buttons and try it the units out. The employee told me he was doing something and will be right back. He went to the front counter with another employee while a custome talked to them about nothing at that had to do with Car Toys or any of their products. After waiting for the guy to come back to help me for 10minutes. I just went to leave. The other guy at the front desk said. Do you have any questions boss while i was on the way out. These guys seriously messed up my van! I had them install a dash cam and alarm that had never worked right. Ive had the van in several times and it comes back worse every time. The 1st time the alarm would randomly go off for no reason. Fixed that then the blue indicator light wouldn't work. After that i noticed the door locks wouldn't lock all the time. Took it back in and after 3 hours they said it was functioning properly. Went to the store and showed them multiple times it wasn't locking. They finally agreed it wasn't right. So yet another time they had to reschedule me so they could call tech support to figure out a work around. Day comes to take it in yet another time and i get a call saying " it wont work if you want to lock and unlock your van several times in a row without turning on the ignition". The only work around for this would be to remote start it to reset the alarm so i can lock the door! To me this seems really stupid! It's a work van and anyone who works out of vans knows how many trips you have to make in and out of the van some days! The other option is to leave it unlocked and leave thousands of dollars of materials and tools for anyone to walk by and grab. Several months of back and forth I just finally had them take the alarm out. And guess what? Since it took several months for them to tell me the alarm wouldn't work "the way i wanted it to"their exact words. I still had to pay hundreds of dollars for the alarm since it was past their 30 day return policy! No refund whatsoever! What a scam! You would think these guys would know what their alarms work on and what they don't? So if you have a ram Promaster just don't do it. You will spend close to a thousand dollars and get nothing out of it! Oh and the horn on the factory alarm doesn't work anymore either after i had them uninstall it. read more

Went to Car Toys in Denton TX. Very disappointed in service and employees deceived and were not courteous. Very expensive for the service received. Salesman managed to add on features at a very high price. Felt like a bait and switch tactic. He also told us that they didn't have rear view cameras when asked directly. He said they couldn't put one on. We'd have to go to a garage. They were advertising rear view cameras and free installation! One part of the product we purchased did not work and they couldn't seem to be able to figure it out, so it still doesn't work. Also, when we went to pick up the vehicle it was parked behind another vehicle being worked on. We told workers in service bay that we were ready for our vehicle and their response was "you can have your car when we are finished with the one parked behind you". Incredibly disappointed. Fiancé insisted on getting me a new stereo for my 4Runner, had a gift card to redeem and was going to pay the difference in cash. I only agreed because we had a gift card and the web site advertised free installation. Travis seemed very nice, installation looks good, really could have saved the extra 250$ they charged me for the free installation and done the same work myself. Fiancé insisted since we were there to just get it done. They were very hesitant to give me a receipt, had to ask multiple times for one, they claimed they didn't know how to use my gift card... just a really bad experience overall I was looking to take my other cars in to have other things done but maybe ill just keep looking elsewhere. Around Christmas time my dad had a car alarm installed by Car Toys. Ultimately, this continuously drained his battery and his truck would never start. My dad took his Tundra to Car Toys on a Friday in September to have them take a look to see what the issue was. They didn't want his keys, but told him they would un plug some items to see if his battery would still drain. They said they would call on Tuesday to let me know know what it did. Instead of calling him, they called a tow truck and had it towed away, only to find out his back window had also been bashed in, hence the reason they had it towed. They didn't want to deal with that issue. The tow bill is over $600 and now he has to replace a window. When my dad called them to talk about it they hung up on him. I am utterly disgusted how they treated him. DO NOT GO THERE. I went in to cartoys to get more security for the bed of my truck, cause i had things stolen out of the bed with my alarm on,that was my main reason, they said they can put a pin in, so when they were finished installing security system, no pin was put in, they said they'll put a Mac switch in but they had to order it, and he will call when it comes in, i got no call, meanwhile 2 months have passed, I got no contact calls from them, so I go back in, they said it came in but was broke so they sent it back, but they do have one there but he had to see from pic if it will work with my truck and he will call me, I got no call back, Jan 26th is when system was put in and no security still in the bed of my truck, and here it is August. September 19, 2024 - I reach out to the local CarToys store in Puyallup, WA regarding wanting to schedule my appointment to redeem by Groupon for an Interior Detailing Package with 30- minute ozone and odor neutralizer treatment. They informed me I needed to bring in my vehicle to have it looked at before scheduling the appointment. I bring the vehicle in that day to have it looked at. The gentleman, which I later found out was the assistant manager, looked over my 2005 Toyota Sequoia and says, "Okay, we can get those cup holders cleaned out for you, no problem. Do you want the back done? There will be an extra charge of $25." I responded, "sure." We scheduled the appointment for the next day at 9am. He states it will take 1-2 hours or so. September 20, 2024 - I bring the vehicle in at 9am. The guy takes my info and informs me it will be $45 for the extra row and back. I looked a little confused and state that he say $25 yesterday, but okay. He then tells me that they tell people to usually just come in and not go through Groupon because it ends up costing more. He then tells me it will take 2-3 hours because some people called in already today. I waiting two and a half hours, and asked how much longer and they said about 45 minutes. I needed to leave, so I got a ride home and let them know I would be back at 6pm to pick it up, so don't rush. (I was not frustrated, mad or upset. It was no big deal.) At 6pm I went to pick up the vehicle. A different guy was at the counter. He handed me the keys and sent me on my way. I went out to my car and noticed pine needles on the seat and a thin amount of dust everywhere. I went back into the store and asked if he could explain what the detailing included. He said, a vacuum and wipe down. I said, okay, it doesn't look like it was wiped down. I had vacuumed it and cleaned very recently and it didn't look any cleaner. He came out to look at it, this is when the original store assistant manager came over and asked what was going on. I explained, "I didn't expect a miracle, but I doesn't look like any even wiped down some seats (still folded)." He looked at the vehicle and started pointing out everything that should have been done and was not. He said he would get it in and have it done again. I want to stress at this point I was still not mad, frustrated, irritated. I did not point out everything, he did. We rescheduled and I left. September 26, 2024 - 10am I bring it in to have them try again. I let them know that I would be back at 6pm to pick it up, so no rush. I get a phone call from the assistant manager informing me it was done mid-afternoon. He said, "I am done with your vehicle, I did it myself. I got all of the spots you were mad about and it is ready to be picked up." (This is very unprofessional, I was not mad. I don't need to be made out to be a Karen.). 6pm I walk in to pick it up. Assistant manager is there and tells me, I cleaned it myself for hours, I even took this vacuum thing to it and you must go to the beach a lot because sand and dust went flying everywhere, I was covered in it. You can hire us to get that sand out with a tool we have another time." I say thank you and get my keys and leave the store. I get in my vehicle and my jaw dropped. I have never seen anything so dirty in my life. The whole car is covered in a think layer of dust and grit. Only the steering wheel and front drivers seat had been wiped off. At this point I was furious. I did not go back in, they already had an extra chance to get my car clean only to brag about how he did it himself and left it 1000 times messier than the first time I dropped it off. I called the corporate phone number (888)227-8697 and left a message with the complaint on September 27. No call back. I call again on October 1, no call back. After getting my car back after 4 days, what a mess, spliced wire pieces was left under the mats, sensor was not plugged back in, dash was rattling, child door locks were unhooked, left the balance contol unhooked, missing screws under dash. this is a brand new SUV..filled out a complaint form. crickets no response on 2 cases I submitted. Would not recommend them even if it was all free. No one checks there work after finished..big rip off. Told them my subwoofer is not working in my 2001 Acura TL after they installed a new radio. They told me my amplifier was bad. The retards didn't even wire the RCA jack from the radio to the amp. Plus they charged me 8 different misc. labor and 8 different shop supply fees. this place will definitely rip you off, and not back their installation warranty. Went for an upgrade to see if they could upgrade my touch screen they talked me into a whole new stereo system I was excited!! Paid over 6400 and immediately started having issues they added a whole new screen by the gear shifter, which was installed way too low and was told that was the only way to do it to upgrade! After the install I had to go back 12 times to have them fix issues such as antenna not picking up signal, navigation showing me in different places, screen in a different language, stereo draining my battery, etc.. it was a nightmare I was told they would upgrade the stereo system for my troubles since it might of been a defective one. I was pissed off!! But what can I do. They installed the new stereo and it didn't work so they took it out and I was told that they would upgrade my original screen and they couldn't use the stereo. Mind you I already paid for the whole set up and now finding out they aren't using the stereo I purchased and I didn't even get that back in refund as they said install cost ate up the charges. I am stuck with an original screen upgrade which I wanted in the first place and was told couldn't be done, out 6400 I reached out to customer complaints and spoke with Michelle and Micheal and was assured I would be taken care of. It's now January and they aren't accepting my call as I have called for 8 times in a month now when I asked the store for owner or MGMT contact info everyone acted like they couldn't help! Came into Car Toys in Puyallup for a simple Remote Start installation placed on my Rav4 around 11:15am. I was given a price quote, and a time estimate of 30 MINUTES from the front desk clerk, thinking I'd get it installed and ready to make it to work before 2:30pm. I decided to wait instore for the process to be done, given it was stated it'd be around 30 minutes. After 2 hours of waiting, I had to ask four different times to the front clerk when my car would be ready and was given vague answers on its status. After THREE AND A HALF HOURS passed and asking for the status for the fourth time, I was finally told it was ready and being pulled forward. I didn't get my car until 30 minutes after that! This whole process didn't get finished until 3:20pm, OVER FOUR HOURS! I understand there may be some technical difficulties involved, but OVER FOUR HOURS is unacceptable! I asked for a discount for the inconvenience of the time quote, and they pointed me back to the line in front desk already knowing I had to be work at 2:30p (already an hour late). Took my nearly new and very clean car to Car Toys for interior detailing with a Goupon Coupon that I paid $79.99 for. Was told the coupon was only to clean windows and vacuum. The rest of the detailing would cost $50 more plus tax. I paid $79.99 + $66.77 and still owe $34.75. Plain and simple deceptive advertising. I filed a complaint with WA Consumer Protection. Also, they would not schedule me to have my car detailed. They required me to go to their store, schedule it, then come back another day. I had a lot of cost into and then they added a surprise $50. Spacers we're not used I spent a lot of time explaining how it should be done and I thought I was in agreement with the tech. However, the old speakers and new speaker box was not placed in our car. That is what led us to look and see that we received 6 1/2 Alpine type S speakers which are lower grade than what we paid for and about 1/2 the difference in price. We called the South Tacoma location and confirmed that we did in fact get charged for the FOCA speakers and they couldnt see why we received the incorrect speakers. We went down to the shop on Sunday 10.14.23 and spoke to Matt who also couldn't figure out how that happened. Today 10.15.23 I called and spoke with Branden who stated that he checked the invoice notes and saw that the installed crew left notes that they couldn't install the 6x9's because it wouldn't fit so they replaced the FOCA with similar rear speakers of the same quality and price range. When I brought up how is Alpine type S speakers the same quality and price as FOCA's he said that it isn't and he didn't know why that happened. I also asked why these notes could not be seen by Matt when we came yesterday? The solution was we could bring the car back and he could have them put in the correct speakers with no additional charge. However, paying $3000 to receive this kind of service is a no for me. My husband took my car in to the dealer (Larson) get the 2 front windows tinted. When he gets it back the dash cam was unplugged, the sunroof was opened, the sport button was on, the seat was reclined as far as it could go (the tv was hitting my granddaughters car seat) and the radio was on a different station on blast. I had a stereo system installed into a car. During the installation the dashboard was damaged. The local store said that they would take care of the repair after they order the part. After 4 weeks the park is still not arrived. They told me that they tried to deliver it after hours and they had to reorder it. They then reordered the part from a local dealership and would have it within a week. A week later we still didn't have the part and when I called the people at the store acted as if they had no understanding of the problem. You cannot get a hold of the next level management team or customer service team. All you can do is leave them a message. This is a terrible business. It is grossly mismanaged and no understanding of the damage. Inconvenience that they cause people to endure. Currently I am still with a broken car, a broken sensor that has fallen somewhere into the dashboard and no idea of when it will be fixed. You can find local names through LinkedIn of higher level managers but no way to contact them. I highly recommend that you avoid this business at all costs. read more

Since the install about a month ago I have had to take it back as the auto start quit working. Then today we were trying to set up Sirius XM and when I called Car Toys to find out where my radio id was he asked if I purchased the Module and antenna??? We were not offered that, we were told it had Sirius and now they want more money for that? It has been an ordeal, the staff just seems blah when you call.
