My mother recently paid for her car. But for the past two years she hasn't had any sound. I thought it was strange that all four speakers would go at once, and assumed she would need a new amplifier. Well we shopped around and nobody seemed to know what they were talking about. A friend of mine recommended Car Tunes in Derry. We stopped by and it turned out they knew exactly what the problem was. So we made an appointment to come back and have the speakers replaced. We came back, dropped off the car, and walked across the street to get some coffee and relax. We didn't even finish our coffee before they called us and said it was all set. Extremely perplexed. We love to keep our money local and try hard but ripping people off is just wrong. Have 2 vehicles I need stereos for. while pricing them out and making my choices I saw a light bar in the store that fit my jeep. asked about the cost and purchased it as I had the impression these guys were honest. paid $250 for the light bar with his assurance that was a good price. Went to buy covers from the manufacturers site and discovered my exact kit sells for $107 from the manufacturer, Sadly they have lost 2 complete stereo sales along with install. twice the price "get em as bad as you can" mentality does not make for good business. they actually lost much more than the double profit they made off me this day. Word of mouth can make or break you....sad, would have been nice to keep my money local and not Best Buy yet that is where my vehicles will be getting the stereo installed. all over a quick grab and run mentality. read more

Just got my deck replaced in my 370z with a Kenwood DDX9904S. I went in with an idea of what I wanted but didn't know how to get there. The owner took the time to explain the features between the various decks and helped me understand how things worked to get what I wanted. He was very patient which was great. I spent a lot of time with him and asked a lot of questions. I picked out a deck and scheduled the install a few days later. They did an amazing job. It was important to me it that it looked good, and it looks great. It looks like it was supposed to be there. They also took extra time to make sure the existing steering controls work properly with the deck. The guy that did the install took the time after to give me a quick tour of the new deck which was awesome. I couldn't be more happy with the job they did. read more

I went here to book an appointment to have them run one cable into my head unit (the remote cable then run to the amp as I had it on the battery with a Kill switch) regardless I set the appointment everything was good and then one of the techs asked me what's going on and I said well "me and my buddy".... he stopped me right there and he said " it's always the Buddy story I don't know why you guys have to lie and you just can't take responsibility for the things you did yourself " and I said "excuse me did you just call me a liar?" and then the customer he was talking with got involved as well and had to put his two cents in now normally this wouldn't bother me at all however I do have a lot of violence in my background from the military and then unfortunately prison so I immediately saw red and I felt completely disrespected and when I called back to tell them they would not be getting my business (the wanted a minimum of 95$ up to 296$ to connect ONE cable!!!! I found a place in Nashua that charged me 40$) they were professional about my complaint but considered me a liar and talked down to me as if I was lying to her I will not give this place my business I've heard nothing but bad things about them they're way too comfortable and it's not a professional environment at all to disrespect someone especially while I was wearing a shirt that defined me as a veteran and he disrespected me and so did his customer I do have a lot of violence in my background from the military and unfortunately prison so I saw immediately red and I felt completely disrespected and when I called back to tell them they would not be getting my business they were professional about it but considered me a liar and talked down to me as if I was lying. The Manager Bob was more than helpful. Here is my experience: At this point, I had shopped around for two weeks and no one else would even come close to their price, customer service, or quality of products. Items that were installed: Alpine type R sub 12inch, amp, custom built box and bass adjustment knob hooked up to my new cars audio system. I go in two days before Christmas, after talking to Bob for a couple days about what he suggests I do with the audio system. So I know what I want; now I just fear he's going says that he cannot do the instillation for two weeks like all of the other stores I contacted. Bob states "drop it off tomorrow and I will have it done by 4 pm". I was like what on Christmas Eve? Amazing! I drop the car off and just like Bob said it was done at 4 pm. Almost like a Christmas Miracle! Instillation was clean and the positing of the bass adjusting knob was excellent; right under the steering wheel, hidden, but accessible. Couldn't be happier! If having nice people working there is your high water mark for success, this place will only leave you mildly disappointed. Most of the people I encountered seemed friendly enough, as long as you don't have an issue or question that needs resolving. First off, you will pay a premium for equipment from Cartunes. I bought the Kenwood DDX9903S, their price $1000, Crutchfield price $699. Lets be honest, they are probably buying from Crutchfield (and if they aren't they probably should be). You might think you get a little extra for the premium. You don't. They will charge you for the installation, their rates seem comparable to other installation shops. I paid $150 for the deck installation (no speakers, nothing really custom [I did have a rear camera installed as well, that was an additional $100]). In their quote, they charge $5 for "miscellaneous". I find this peculiar, because charged separately for the wires, harness, and other equipment. What could possibly be miscellaneous? Installation day: Expect to lose your vehicle for 9 hours. I dropped my truck off at 9am, at 3pm I called to see how things were going. Their phrase was "just buttoning this up, shouldn't be much longer". I arrived to pick it up at 6pm (no call, I just knew that's when they closed), and they were not yet done. After an additional hour of waiting, they drove my truck around. I asked for any manuals for the new receiver and was told "oh, just go download those online, we don't have anything". This might seem weird for a "new" receiver, but it's the digital age, maybe I'm just old-fashioned. Let me talk about the job they did. While I sat in their parking lot, I went through most of the settings. Everything was "factory default", which I think is ok. I played with some of the controls and adjusted the settings to what I liked. Audio is a personal preference thing, so default seems appropriate. When I tried to use the back-up camera, it was grainy. I attributed this to it being late in the evening and possibly poor light. I tested CarPlay with my phone, which worked great, and then I plugged my phone into the external HDMI port, no picture was displayed. I did not test the other features, as I did not have any DVDs with me, but everything else sounded and looked good. When I got home, I watched some youtube videos on how to use the HDMI port. I followed their directions, still no picture, no sound. The next morning, I was looking forward to my Boston commute. I popped in an audio DVD, and to my dismay, nothing played. I changed the setting to CarPlay/Pandora, and that worked, so I drove off. As I was filling up my gas tank, I inspected the rear camera. Surprisingly, they had left the little blue film over the cameras glass (that explains the grainy images). In 9 hours, they didn't have a fraction of a second to remove that film. As I drove off, I saw the light on my dashboard indicating the passenger side airbag was not enabled. Under the alert is my hazard light button, I pressed it, and realized that was never connected either. When they disassembled the dash, they forgot to plug everything back in. I continue my drive and get a phone call from Cartunes. They ask if I found any tools in my truck (or possibly even under it), they had lost a magnetic light and a pair of pliers. This should tell you everything you need to know about their attention to detail, and careful installation. I mention that the dash isn't connected, she asked me to drop by to have it fixed, and when I mentioned the DVD, she told me I needed to depress the parking break fully to watch a DVD. If only there was a manual that I could have read that in. When I went back to have the airbags and hazards plugged in they were extremely busy, and asked me to drop it off. I didn't have time, but she said "oh, just the dash, I can fix that in the parking lot, you'll need to drop it off to troubleshoot the HDMI issue". She grabbed some tools, removed the dash before realizing she need to drive around to the garage anyway. 45 minutes later I was able to leave, with the hazards functioning properly, and airbag lights off. Just for fun, I decided to plug in the external HDMI cable, and everything came up (except it was all green, as if the wire was loose). I went back this morning. The Hooksett location closed in the past week, there is a sign pointing me to the Derry location. I drive the additional 20 minutes to Derry, where I saw the man that did my installation. He tried to tell me I didn't plug in the HDMI wire correctly. He tested it, saw the green image, and then said "no problem, I'll get this fixed". 30 minutes later, he tells me the HDMI wire I had was bad, and if I wanted it fixed, to buy a new wire, and he'd only CHARGE me $75 to replace it. Yes, CHARGE me to replace a wire that never worked since installation (that he never tested). You pay a premium, but they are not careful, not thorough, and their customer service is atrocious. read more

had 1700 dollars worth of work done on my car there... they melted the door panels, only re-installed half of the fasteners, didn't put any grommets on the amp wiring passing through the firewall, the amp racks they built both fell apart in under 8 months, when i picked up my car that i requested a custom sub enclosure be built for i was presented with a wrong sized for both the car and the sub enclosure, they 'tuned' the stereo system crossover points completely wrong and had one side of the car completely out of phase. I asked for door build with the ways in stalled in custom map pockets and arrived to find tweeters in the dash and mid ranges so far back the seats block their output... they also broke my interior door handle and used wood screws to mount to sheet metal... drilled one amp rack mounting screw into the rear fender well.... complete unskilled hacks... go elsewhere... they recently changed the name of the shop to sight and sound read more
