While I liked Jamal, the facility seems to jack up the price for various services. I had a coolant flush a week ago and was very reasonable price. Included up to 2 gallons of coolant. That service didn't fix a no heat condition so we continued on with a replacement thermostat. Rather than using the 1 week old coolant, they wanted to charge me more than the original coolant flush for more coolant. We resolved that. The thermostat didn't fix the problem so they diagnosed one of the water pumps for the heating/cooling system. Price was so high to do the work and I would have had to buy more coolant. This was all within a week. I did the replacement myself and saved a lot of money as it wasn't that hard to do. This was my second time there for service and the other time was so extremely costly for something I didn't need so I didn't do that service either. Not a place I would go back to. read more

Dishonest! Kevin was very nice, and I have no qualms with the customer service given. However, I was initially quoted $1700 for a Catalytic Converter replacement. I thought this was an odd diagnosis since I've replaced a converter in a previous vehicle and my current car wasn't displaying most symptoms consistent with that diagnosis. But since it's an older car I figured it was possible. I flat out told him that was too much money. He then mentioned that the $1700 included the shops lifetime warranty but if he took it off it'd be $1386. The fact that I was quoted the higher cost made me wary and distrustful so I elected to not have him repair it. It turns out that my Catalytic Converter did NOT need to be replaced at all, just my flange, and muffler needed repairing which came out to $300, that's a $1000 difference smh. It's sad that men try to take advantage of women and assume they can get over. I will not be going back. read more

Have always been a fan of the Car-X chain. My local one closed down, so this is the closest one to me... worth the drive. Guys are really nice, but super busy on the weekend, make sure you have an appointment! I have been using this location for a couple of years. I get my oil change there (very reasonably $$), and all kinds of other car maintenance. Every time it is a pleasure to deal with them: courteous, knowledgeable, timely, they really understand the concept of customer service and practice it earnestly. I work in customer service, so I can truly appreciate such efforts. Their prices are very fair and they have even done some things for me at no charge: most recently they replaced my license plates when we were unable to remove screws which broke and were stuck in the holes. Kevin suggested an engine flush that cleaned out any lingering crud that accumulated from the previous owner. Some of the things I heard are "there is a coupon available. Let me apply it." "Your car is just great. But you might want start saving for new brakes. Maybe next oil change." After taking my vehicle to a different mechanic I learned that CarX cross-threaded the oil pan plug and put the wrong oil filter in my vehicle. The total damages will be high in the end. To replace the oil pan alone is about $350. Don't take your car here read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. We were told over the phone a price for the services we needed, when we got to the shop we were told a price double what we were promised over the phone. Basically they used first phone call price to get us in the door and then tried to rip us off. Not a good way to do business. read more

thanks to Carx, they returned my money after sharing my below experience with the proof they mis-diagnosed. "i'll not go here anymore. i had engine shut off issue with my 2001 acura. As CARX is just opposite to my apartment i had given my car here for diagnosis for which they charged $130 for and told i need to change all my coils (3 coils not working and 3 coils partially working) and all spark plugs and gave a quote of 2.3K. I told car itself is not valued that much and they told lets change 3 coils first for a quote of $900 and see what next and didn't assure this will fix the issue. As the quote was too high and there is no guarantee issue will get fixed, i thought there is no other go except sending the car to Junk. Just as a last resort, thought to get a second opinion and took my car to a small auto store and they fixed the EMR valve for $160 (Including Labor) within an hour and i was driving back happily! To Carx Management, i received a call from Customer support manager to check my experience and i shared my disappointment. she told i would be contacted immediately by District manager so thought to hold off from writing the review for more than a weeks time but still waiting on the call. If you would reimburse the amount of $130 for your mis-diagnosis - i'm ready to share the bill in which it clearly states what was diagnosed & fixed." read more

Dishonest store manager charging me over $150 to fix a broken driver side head light. When they called me, they told me it was missing a ground. The store manager is dishonest, he started adding running car diagnostics to the bill when I asked for an itemized bill, I requested to talk to the technician who did the work and show me what he fixed, he did not mention running car diagnostics, he mentioned taking of parts that clearly were not on the way of fixing the head light feed, as both head lights were on the same electric wire running through the front pumper as they are controlled by the same fuse. Charged me $29 for the head light bulb itself which is normally $11. read more

Just as the other reviews say Byron was the best, Matt was cool too. Matt was really personable and looked out for his customers. I'm not sure what happened to him. Unfortunately this location has suffered from frequent change in management. The new Assistant Manager Jeremy Dukala has a very different mindset then Byron or Matt. When he refused to honor the $40 coupon his shop mailed me, he told me that he was already doing me a favor by removing the diagnostic fee. (Every shop removes this fee when you have the work done there...) I asked if there were any restrictions written on the coupon, he said it didn't matter because he was already helping me out. When he should have responded gratefully or apologetically, he instead responded with smug remarks. Considering my father-in-law and I have been bringing that car to their shop for the last 10 years you might have thought that he'd want to retain a loyal customer. Anyways, I guess not, and I'm more than happy to give my money to someone else who appreciates the business. read more

I made the first appointment of the day, the boys there were really fantastic. Josh impressed me the most with his customer service. He showed he genuinely cared about the safety of me and the quality my car. He took me out and showed me exactly what they found on my car, which helped me immensely. They offered to take care of everything right then and there, unfortunately I had a few other prior commitments, but I will most definitely be back to THIS Car-X just because of how great he was. I'm taking the time out to write a review about Car-X because they deserve it. The staff and owner of this shop are always friendly, fair, and fast. I used to live in the Naperville area and always got great service at the Car-X out there. I had a really older model car with parts not readily available in the shop. They would always explain the issue and never made me feel as though they were trying to sell me things I didn't need. When I moved to Arlington Heights and I needed work done on my current car, my first thought was to find the nearest Car-X. While there the first time I had the same feeling as the Naperville shop. I was chatting with an employee in the shop and it turned out that he was the owner. I would never have known because he was in the mix and taking care of customers like the rest of the team. Turns out that he also owns the shop in Naperville. That totally explained why I was so at ease! The guys at Car-X always fit me into their schedule. Even going so far as to take me home and pick me up if they have to keep my car overnight. Saving me having to ask someone for a ride or calling a taxi. Even the shop owner has driven me home! What other business owner would do that? As a female, going into a car repair shop can be really daunting. I never feel like I am being ripped off or taken advantage of at Car-X in Arlington Heights. They've had a customer for a few years and will continue to have one. read more

I have since discovered that the new parts I asked to be installed on my car (tie rod ends) were never installed, just lubricated so they don't make noise. Failed and had to be replaced again shortly (I replaced them myself this time). The parts claimed to be replaced were heavily corroded. read more

Third time I've been to visit Luis and Angel in the past year. They've helped me with suspension issues, electric issues, front wheel alignment issues, and lighting issues. Every time they have been attentive and fair in repairing my truck. Their pricing has always been more than fair. Please note that Luis took over this CarX location around 2015 so I would take note of this fact when reading any Reviews posted prior to 2015. My husband needed to change brakes and clean/change rotors with it so they did it the same day and 200$ less than Firestone. So I would go there again. Since moving to the area from Ohio eight months ago, I have been searching for an auto shop I could trust. I have now been here three times for three different reasons and this is it! My first visit, an oil change, was fast (even without an appointment) and reasonably priced. Then I needed my windshield fluid tank replaced and they did it very cheaply. Finally I made an appointment earlier this week to replace my brake pads and they did it once again at a very reasonable price and well under their time estimate. As a woman I'm always wary of auto shops trying to swindle me, but this place is very honest and I genuinely trust them. They have my business from now on. read more

This place is amazing. Me and my friend went there on the last Monday for checking out the clocking noise from the front side. Their inspection is always free and this time was more than just free service. Two of mechanics inspected our car and found out the cause of the noise. It was just about 15 minutes. They super nicely explained us and showed us how it can be fixed with a simple part they had. And it's FREE OF CHARGE. Even though it's a simple repair they still used their labor. If the entire parts were replaced it could have costed over $1,000 at the car dealer but not necessary to do that way they explained. They clearly explained us what needs to be repaired and what needs to be replaced so no worries to waste your money. These guys are always nice and very relatable. We keep recommending our friends. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate carX's owner Byron and all of his stellar employees. There have been times when I have had minor car emergencies(ie. an uninvited nail in a tire, a cracked off windshield wiper due to the cold/salty conditions), and I have raced over, unannounced, to carX and voila carX fixes it in no time and gets me on my way! They're so accomodating, their work is outstanding, they're personable and I NEVER feel like i'm getting ripped off for unnecessary work being done to my car. Byron and his whole team are concerned with my safety and will often "show" me(with my own eyes) why a tire/belt/bolt/fan/etc. needs to be replaced...
