Ines is a wonderful cake designer & baker! We knew the design we were going for to surprise a birthday girl - a high heeled shoe cake. Not only was Ines super communicative and helpful, she didn't need a crazy amount of lead time in our case to make the cake a reality. We contacted her with about 2 weeks to go, and she nailed it, even adding extra sparkle when we told her the birthday girl liked bling. The flavor was delicious, which was an added bonus since you never know if the cake is just going to look good, or taste good too. An amazingly moist chocolate flavor. She also delivered it to us right in the time frame we needed! And, as you can see by the photos (pink & black shoe cake), she totally got our design perfectly. This was from just one inspiration photo, and then her asking questions! Magic. Go with Ines, you won't be disappointed.

Ines is exceptional. Our son's 1st birthday cake was absolutely perfect. Family was very impressed with the decor and flavor of the cake. The buttercream, vanilla, and raspberry were excellent - not too sweet, which we appreciate and value. We've ordered cakes through another baker previously and although the decorations looked nice, the taste of the cake wasn't there. This one had it all!! It was also surprisingly easy to transport, which put us at ease! We'll most definitely be ordering future celebration cakes with Ines!

I am two years late for this review and thought of our wedding cake while watching Great British Bakeoff! A few notes about Ines: super attentive and accommodating, easily understood my cake request (simple, rustic, clean), and made the most delicious cakes that I still think about today. Ines from Caramela made an amazing Thomas the Train cake for my son's second birthday! I had 2 parties for him (one local and the other with my family in LA). This party was for a group of 2 year olds and the cake was a smash hit! It looked so much like Thomas that one of the guests put an actual Thomas toy next to it so everyone could see how similar it was. To top it off, the cake was delicious! Everyone enjoyed it, especially my 2 year old! I love themed cakes, and Ines is very talented at it. I'm confident she can probably make anything, so we definitely plan on going back for future celebrations!

Is there an option to give 5+ stars? Where do I start, Ines recently made my daughter's birthday cake and I can safely say that she is by far the most talented and reasonable cake artist I have come across in the Bay Area! After calling about half a dozen bakeries/bakers and getting disappointed by their price/samples I found Ines on Yelp. From the planning stage to the last bite everything was perfect! Ines executed the most perfect cake for my animal-loving toddler. Ines is detail oriented, listens well and to top it all, the cake tasted DIVINE! Ines designed and made both the main cake and smash cake for our son's 1st birthday last weekend, and we could not have been happier with how they turned out! The party was safari themed, and so was the cake. The 3D safari figurines on the cake were amazing, so much detail, and all edible! Everyone who saw the cake was so impressed. She responded promptly and, with a couple of photos for reference, created a beautiful masterpiece that was as delicious as it looked. We chose chocolate hazelnut and here I am, dreaming about it 1.5 years later. Our guests loved the cake and my daughter, even as young as she was then, was floored seeing her favorite toys (a penguin and dinosaurs trio) atop her first experience with cake. The owner Ines was very responsive and made the best cake for my son's first birthday. We had a baby shark theme and ordered a two tier cake with her orange/toasted hazelnuts and the lemon/lavender flavors. The cake was gorgeous and also delicious! Omg The Yummiest cake ever! I don't even like chocolate cake much but my husband loves so we ordered chocolate flavor and it was most delicious chocolate cake I've ever tasted! I found this place online for my baby's first birthday. And I asked Ines to see if they can make special Korean dol cake topper and she did! This is my wife's business. Yes I'm biased! But also, no one else has seen how much passion, hard work and love she puts on her craft. Can't count how many time I've seen her redoing things at 2 in the morning because of the high standards she put on herself and business. To the long term loyal customers out there, making orders year after year, Ines frequently mentions you came back! This brings her so much joy and pride, you are prob now aware. Thanks! We found Caramela By Ines over Yelp! as we were looking for a custom baby shower cake. We reached out to Ines via email and exchanged a couple of pictures of what we were looking for. She responded with her quotes and also some of the cake designs she had created in the past. All were so stunning that we just had to have one of her cakes at the baby shower. Without a doubt it was the prettiest 2 tiered cake we could have asked for. The flavors were delicious, the color was perfect and the bear was the cutest cake topper. Everyone loved the cake, friends asked for her contact information and we will definitely use Ines' services again. The cake is one of the best cakes I have ever eaten - delicious, moist and gorgeous - even the fondant was absolutely delicious. Ines even delivered right on time for a small fee and was very easy to work with. The most talented, profesional, kind, reliable pastry chef in the Bay Area. Ines really loves what she does and you can taste that love in her creations. She only uses the best seasonal, healthier Ingredients and is committed into making your idea come true. She is an artist, I totally recommend her for any event you might have. Her cakes taste amazing, cookies and alfajores de dulce de leche yummy!!!. Thanks Ines for making my sweet 5th birthday boy so happy with his awesome 3D shark cake :) Ps. The shark was hand made and was made out of the same vainilla cake and dulce de leche that we asked for. My boy was so happy when he actually got to eat the shark and it tastes so good!! Ines was so easy to work with. I sent her my list of questions including timing and price, and she responded very timely. We then exchanged a couple of emails to discuss the design. I sent her a picture from Pinterest and crossed my fingers! We didn't see the big reveal until we successfully picked up the cake and moved it to the party room. It was beautiful! It was cute enough for my 5 year old and sophisticated enough for me. Everyone at the birthday party kept on complimenting the cake. I highly recommend Ines! I ordered a custom cake and custom cookies for a baby shower I was hosting. The design and quality of the cake and cookies deserve 5 stars. I have nothing but praise for those parts. The reason for my 3 stars is the unreliable delivery service. I had arranged for the cake and cookies to be delivered to the venue between 10:45am-11am. Ines said they would be delivered by 11am. The products were not delivered until 11:45am! By that time guests were already seated and midway into their meals. Moreover, the items weren't delivered to the venue itself. I had to physically leave the venue and meet up with Ines because she couldn't find the delivery address I had provided. Because of the super late delivery, I had to set up the cake and add touches to the cookies (they were party favors) in front of the guest of honor. They were supposed to be a surprise for her. read more

I would like to rate 5 star for Caramela By Ines however I never had an opportunity to try her products. Her products looks amazing and I look forward to order some cupcakes for my son's bday party. So I first try to contact them by fb msg, I waited a few days no response so I assume they probably won't respond through fb messenger. Then I went to try to contact by email, still no response. Lastly, I went through yelp reviews and saw people contact them by text so I also text them and ask about custom cupcakes. No response at all! It was quite disappointing, if you are unable to take my order I totally understand because you might be really busy with others. However, giving no response at all from 3 different contacting method is just not acceptable. I am quite disappointed with Caramela by Ines and hopefully other people does not need to go through such disappointment like I did. read more

We walked out with two big cookies that looked impossible to ignore: a Chocolate Chip baked with brown sugar, butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips, and a Snickerdoodle cookie with a cinnamon-sugar coating. Each was $3.99. My cousin told us that the Snickerdoodle reigned supreme in her house, so that set the bar pretty high for us. This is my first Yelp review ever, which should tell you how blown away I was by the cake. Not only did it look perfect for my daughter's ocean-themed party (I had requested something simple and cute), but the chocolate cake tasted absolutely delicious. Ines was attentive, helpful and answered all my questions promptly. She even sent me a diagram on how to best cut the cake (I had never cut a two-tier cake before and wanted to know how to proceed. Also, I am clumsy and need specific instructions). If you're looking for a high-quality cake and impeccable service, I highly recommend Ines. You won't be disappointed. Not only it was beautifully designed with flowers (I thought they were real at first but actually were edible flowers made by Ines - I was mind blown) but also it tasted amazing! I discovered Caramela through a friend that recommended it to me, and I have ordered two times already. The quality of the desserts are amazing, very unique flavors that are hard to find in the Bay Area. The cakes also come with a great design and presentation which caught the attention of all my guests. The first time I ordered a cake for my friend's birthday, and the second one to celebrate an engagement party, and was extremely satisfied both times with quality and price. I was recommended to contact Ines a couple of weeks ago to save our sons birthday. A week before the event the person who was making the cake canceled on us. Gorgeous cakes and delicious!! We ordered a baby shower cake from Ines and, it was a boy and girl baby shower, she helped us capture the theme and make the colors match our entire decoration! It was a gorgeous baby pink and baby blue!! We didn't want to cut the cake because it was so beautiful, but once we did it was delicious!! Inés made the best birthday cake my son had by far! And the best looking one- a Chewbacca Chocolate mousse! In our family we don't like the sponge birthday cakes that you'd use to make the sculptural cakes, but my son really wanted a Chewbacca cake. We tasted a cake Inés made for a friend so we knew she'd be up for the task, and indeed, no disappointment there. It was delicious. And beautiful. I've been a customer of Caramela for years now. Not only these are beautifully crafted cakes, they are also delicious! would highly recommend Ines for your cakes' requests. She can basically do any theme. Very creative. Don't forget to ask for her special, home-made and legit Argentinian "dulce de leche" (calling it "caramel in English is an offense, but that's kind of the translation). it's just the best and it goes delicious as a cake filling! read more

When we revealed the cake Ines created for my wife's birthday, it was like a celebrity just entered the room. Cameras came out, ooh's and awe's rolled across the room. It really made the party. I gave Ines a design and a story about our network of friends and the theme of "We're all in this together". She came up with a clean, bright design and a beautiful, not-too-sweet almond flavored cake. I would highly recommend Carmela by Ines. read more

I ordered a cake for my son's birthday and the entire experience was just perfect. The cake represented the theme just like I wanted. My kid was all over the place when he saw it. I also ordered some cookies that were delicious and as nice as the cake. The cake was delivered to ny place at the time it was scheduled. I had to order a cake for a friend's Baby Shower, not even know where to start. Everything was expensive or I would not have it on time. I am terrible at timings and organizing things.
