I drive by this place so many times a week and decided to try it out with my mom. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We only walked in to check in and immediately went back out to sit on the patio so this review is solely on the outside experience. I didn't use the restrooms insure so can't speak on that either. The waitress was very nice and they came outside frequently to check on us. The menu had so many options that looked delicious. I got the house burrito and it was delicious. The red salsa was spicy so be warm if you don't like spicy food. The egg on top just elevated the taste for me. I also added some pickled onions from my mom's plate to eat with my burrito delicious. I had the cafe delicious and it was indeed delicious. I can see myself stopping by just for this in the morning. I plan to go back again and sit inside. Upon arrival the parking situation is a bit limited as it is in a packed shopping center but we were able to find a spot near by on a Saturday morning. The guest list on Yelp wasn't working so we had to check in with the lady at the front door. She told me it was about a 30 minute wait but we waited around 55 minutes to get seated. This location is really small compared to the other spot in LP- so we were seated really close to the couple next to us. One of the biggest take aways from here is that the service wait time is a lot longer than the other location; getting seated, getting order taken and getting your food. We waited quite some time to get our food after getting our order and my partner got his food way before I did (not a problem if you don't mind eating without your other partner). As we were seated right next to the other couple they had the same issues. Now I'm not sure if it's due to the size of the location and the number of staff but it would a great place if they could speed up the service time. Loved this restaurant and have been coming here for dine in and take out for years prior to leaving LA. The food is delicious. We have been in town visiting with our service animal and the manager flat out rejected us from sitting inside with the dog... the dog is not a pet Sadly because of this I don't think I can support this Caramelo location anymore. ADA compliance and accommodation is hugely important to us as my partner has a disability that that requires us to have a dog trained for medical alerts. It is a shame. read more

My mom ordered one of the crepes with strawberries and it came with a lot. She ended up taking a bunch out. The service was nice and quick, but it was a Monday morning so it wasn't busy. This is my FAVORITE breakfast spot in town! I went on a Saturday at 11:30 am and luckily got sat right away. I recognize a lot of the staff there every time I go and they are so helpful and kind. Inside has some good music and atmosphere, but I like sitting outside for the fresh morning air while eating breakfast. You can tell the food is made fresh and with love. I like to order the Chilaquiles. You can choose red or green salsa and I chose green salsa and added steak. It comes with eggs cooked whatever way you want and then I added home fries, which is basically a side of breakfast potatoes. The portion size is excellent and I always leave full! They also have a great choice in coffee. I got a Cafe de Olla and it comes in a lovely mug. I highly recommend this place to everyone! I took a group of friends once and they all enjoyed it! Now first off let me say the service here is A1. I have never had better service anywhere in my life. It's my first visit and I felt right at home. I came with my fiancé and our son for a morning breakfast at 8:30am. A very quaint environment with good music to set a good chill mood. I started with the abuelita hot chocolate. It came with a mountain of real whip cream on top and was absolutely delicious. I played it safe and ordered the pancake combo since it was my first visit. The combo came with one single pancake, eggs, 2 strips of bacon and home fries. I wasn't familiar with the term home fries, but I would describe them as thinly sliced potatoes cooked to perfection. Both wet and dry at the same time. The bacon and the pancake were both cooked perfectly. As were the eggs and home fries too but I just added some salt, pepper and chalula sauce to get them how i like it. Now for the crepes combo. This Comes with the same sides but with a massive berry crepe to go along with it. This meal is definitely for those you like to explore flavors in their dish. A lot of color and excitement in the crepes. Overall I paid $70 for the meal with the tip included. I feel that this place is a little pricey but very well worth it. Everything they cooked was perfect and the service was incredible. I might be a regular for Saturday mornings now. read more

They're always friendly, but everything seemed to run smoother. The food is always quite tasty, no complaints here, and there's plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. My wife had a Mocha Iced Coffee ($4.74) which had just a hint of sweetness and very refreshing. She commented that the other coffees she's had in the past were very sweet. For our entrées, my wife tried the Chilaquiles ($16.38) and I ordered the Laredo Skillet ($21.29), topped with two eggs and choice of toast. Mine came with an awesome Salsa Verde, which was acidic but full of flavor and was fantastic over the spicy chorizo, potatoes, and Jack cheese. The serving sizes are plenty filling, and I was able to take home leftovers from my skillet to make a breakfast burrito for the next day. Was really looking forward to eating here since we pass by it every day. We were greeted right away upon entering and were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The cafe de olla was really good! I ordered the Laredo skillet, my fiance ordered the Texan skillet, and my daughter got the Paris crepe. Unfortunately, none of the food was hot. My fiances plate was cold, the cheese was not even melted. We hate to send anything back but it was just too cold. The server was very understanding, apologetic and made him a new plate immediately. Stopped here early Monday morning because of the yelp reviews. Way off the mark from what I read! Restaurant was empty, so I was seated quickly, the servers and everyone in the restaurant was super nice. I ordered Llarona omelette, pictures to follow. She returned a few minutes later with my food on a plate, luke warm. The omelette was dry, and overcooked. See photo. No tortillas were offered, only toast, which was white bread and butter on the side. The homestyle potatoes were decent, but nothing to brag about sliced potatoes undercooked. I spoke to the waitress and showed her everything, especially the omelette. Another lady came over and apologized, I didn't want to make a scene, but it was subpar. For all of my trouble, they gave me a small discount. Tax, tip, food out the door. I still paid $21. I was promised the next time it will not be this way. Cozy brunch I have gone to caramelo cafe for about 8 years and always enjoyed their flavors of brunch. In my most recent visit on a Sunday for brunch, we were left a bit disappointed as it didn't compare to previous visits. The pricing for some items seem a bit overpriced and the wait time to receive our food took quite some time. A friend had ordered waffles and that took longer than our panini plates. The potatoes are my favorite and I recommend their skillets or crepes. Am so bummed. I've been coming to Caramelo Cafe for a while now. I take the drive from LA because we like it very much. Today that I brought my uncle who came to visit from Indiana it was all bad. And don't know why because there was only 1 table inside 1 table outside and us (3 tables totals) We were seated right away. The waitress took a while to bring our coffees and to my taste coffees were not hot enough. The food also took longer than usual and as I said it was not busy. And to top it off my uncles food and dad's food was cold ‍ They both got El Tri which is one of the best plates and both were cold. We didn't return them because they were really hungry.
