I've tried to come here about 3 times but each time the wait was like 2 hours or more. Even with the yelp waitlist. This place is small and has a very homey feeling to it. Specially the coffee. I ordered a ham and egg melt, my shredded cheese wasn't melted at all. I would suggest make sure the cheese melt is hot. It does come cut in half and one can see right away that it is not melted cheese. I didn't complain I just ate half, I loved the potatoes that came with. Am so bummed. I've been coming to Caramelo Cafe for a while now. I take the drive from LA because we like it very much. Today that I brought my uncle who came to visit from Indiana it was all bad. And don't know why because there was only 1 table inside 1 table outside and us (3 tables totals) We were seated right away. The waitress took a while to bring our coffees and to my taste coffees were not hot enough. The food also took longer than usual and as I said it was not busy. And to top it off my uncles food and dad's food was cold ‍ They both got El Tri which is one of the best plates and both were cold. We didn't return them because they were really hungry. The Veggie Skillet that I ordered was okay. I just wanted to try something different and more healthy but won't order that plate again. The restaurant is located inside a plaza with a parking lot. Fairly small lot but I had brunch with a few friends and we all found parking. They do not take reservations but you can put yourself on the waitlist on yelp. It says they don't seat everyone until everyone in the party has arrived so I didn't check in upon arrival but they were super nice. They saw my friend and I standing outside and came to ask if we needed to he helped. Originally wanted outdoor seating but they have limited seating to start with so we sat inside. They do leave the door open. I tried the cafe de olla and country crepe with a side of chilaquiles. I also tried a taste of their jamaica and the special coffee. I really enjoyed the cafe de olla but all the drinks were good, not too sweet. They give a good portion for their foods. I had leftovers and ate them later on in the day. Surprisingly after reheating it tasted even better haha. The staff are very friendly and kept coming to check on us. I came across Caramelo on Yelp. I saw the Chilaquiles and needed to try them. I went during a weekday and it was quite busy. I added myself to the waitlist. The wait was an hour. I would definitely recommend getting on their waitlist before heading over to see what the wait is. I ran some errands before making my way over. The parking lot was packed. Luckily, I drove around a few times, and during that time, a group was leaving. They have an outside patio and seating on the inside. They have a QR code for the menu outside. I would recommend checking it out as they have a wide variety of items to choose from. A waitress came right after I was seated. I asked for the chilaquiles. They came out hot and crispy. The sauce had a nice flavor and spice level. The eggs were runnier than I would've liked, but tasty. I will be returning to try their coffee and other dishes. read more

First time at Caramelo cafe and this location is very close by. Parking is plenty as it shares spaces in a plaza with a dollar tree, printing business, etc... This location has indoor dining as well as an outdoor patio with several tables and a ceiling fan for those hot days outdoors. The inside is nicely decorated and clean modern design. Now to the food. I ordered for breakfast their chorizo burrito, my wife also ordered the same. Its nice thick burrito with delicious eggs, spicy chorizo, hash browns and cheese. First bite was oh sooo good. You can taste the combination of flavors from the eggs, hash brown and the spicy chorizo. The chorizo was well cooked and just so delicious and spicy that you don't even need to add the house made spicy salsa. But adding the spicy salsa helped increased the flavor profile and made it spicier but a spicy good not a spicy "oh my gawd too hot". Ate the first half and it was just right to fill me up for the morning but eating the whole thing is also doable. I am saving the other half for lunch. Highly recommend checking them out for breakfast, lunch and brunch. I look forward to trying their other offerings in the future. Will definitely be back. VEGAN REVIEW: I got the blended iced coffee with caramel. The caramel and whipped cream is vegan. The only modification is to substitute for oat milk. I actually didn't even realize it came with whipped cream and the server came out with the can to show me and ask me if it was okay to use, which I appreciated. You can ask about other drinks, but I think many of them use sweetened condensed milk. My sibling got the "Cafe Delicious" which is coffee with condensed milk, honey, whipped cream, and pecans. They said it's enjoyable, but not "Wow I want to get this again." This can't be veganized. They preferred my drink. There aren't great options in terms of food for vegans. You can get by with lots of modifications and omitting the meat and eggs in stuff if you get dragged here with your family like I did, but I wouldn't recommend this place for vegans if you can avoid it. I got the veggie skillet, with no eggs or cheese and extra home fries instead. It was okay, nothing groundbreaking, just glad to eat. read more

I came here multiple times ever since my last review and I could say that Caramelo Cafe is one of my favorite breakfast-brunch spot. It is really close from my house, the servers are so sweet and attentive. I even came here with my parents, and my sisters' family, in which there were lots of children. The servers were patient, and got whatever my family need (extra plate, utensils, etc., you know how that goes). The food is excellent, I always ordered crepes, either sweet or savory, but I was able to try their Chillaquilles, skillets, and Burrito when my fam was here, and it was also exceeded my expectations. I came here early this morning at 8:15am. I'm a little disabled, hard for me to walk fast and have balance. I park in the handicap parking with my placard of course. I've been to the other location in La Puente but this one was closer since we were running errands. Put ourselves on the Yelp waitlist and waited an hour to be seated. The employees were super nice and patient. The ambiance is small but you can dine inside or outside. As for the food, it was okay. Chilaquiles- huge portion and good but end up not finishing it. I thought the potato home fries were suppose to be crispier but it was soggy. Green sauce, a pinch spicy The Berry French toast was beyond too much for me. Too sweet w the extra berry sauces. I presumably thought they would add fresh berries instead of making it a sauce. Overall, I don't think I'll be back to this location.
