We love this place. The food is outstanding. I love their marinated sausage and peppers on a sub. I usually do not like sausage and peppers but when I tried them here, it was full of flavor because they were marinated to perfection. I never tasted sausage and peppers so good. I went there on Valentine's day and it was rigth around noon. I was heartbroken when they had no sausage and peppers left. They must have been really busy that day because it was not late in the after noon. Also the mac and cheese is very good. I went to Carbones with a friend and ordered eggplant parm. The most tasty and light parm I ever had. No mozz, just small squares of eggplant and sauce. I was in love. Just added a little grated cheese sprinkled on top. It was soooo good and flavorful. So I ordered a half tray of the eggplant parm and a half tray of salad. True to form, the eggplant was a delight to eat and the salad was so fresh and varied in vegetables. We had this for Easter. This place is a jewel nested in the north haven shopping center. Mangia!! I had buffalo chicken salad which is probably the worst salad I've ever had. There was two grape tomatoes halved, two slices of cucumber sliced so paper thin you could see through them, I noticed a couple of pieces of grated carrot and the portion of lettuce was definitely closer to a side salad than a lunchtime entree. The buffalo chicken was a pile of shredded chicken with a very bland buffalo sauce. My husband grabbed a macaroni salad from the fridge to help satisfy his hunger and ended up throwing it away because it was just pasta and mayonnaise, nothing else. Never, ever going back! read more

My experience at Carbone's made me feel the need to use yelp for the first time ever, I live only 5 minutes away and was in the mood for a wrap so I figured I'd try something new. The building looks closed, there's not much there which doesn't really matter to me but just a heads up.. I walk in and order an spicy Italian wrap from a guy who was very nice! It's just that the wrap seemed to be something you'd get on a field trip in elementary school. It's unfortunate because with just minor adjustments it could be a very good spot being as it's in a good location. The picture speaks for itself. Buffalo chicken wrap was very messy; a LOT of sauce leaked through the wrapping into the bag I carried it in. I'd let that pass, bad on me for not checking the wrapping. But when I opened it up, the whole thing fell apart. Huge mess of dressing and sauce. Very little lettuce. Chicken was ok, nothing special. Aside from it being insanely quiet for the lunch rush time, when I walked in the employee who was sitting at a table with other people got up and went in back to prepare my sandwich without washing his hands and putting on gloves. I found this very disgusting for a place that is preparing food, considering he had just been in the front of house sitting with people. He prepared my food as if I was inconveniencing his day. I have been going to Carbone's for years but finally decided it was time to let some other people in on it. Food is outstanding and if you come on a Tuesday during the winter you have to have the Beef Stew. Don't come after me however since there might not be any left. I bring home extra to freeze for later in the week and it is just as good as the first day which is only the best I have ever had. My wife makes me drive down from Waterbury to pick up the Eggplant sandwich. We live in Waterbury and nothing here even in our Italian part of town, comes close to the taste and amount of one of these sandwiches. If you want a truly great breakfast sandwich stop in before 11. They are fabulous also and always come with two eggs (is there any other way). read more

Love this place. Work down the road and go as much as I can for lunch. Bigger sandwiches than D'Angelos across the street and taste much better. If you aren't in the mood for a sandwich, there is homemade Salisbury steak, lemon chicken, potatoes with gravy, Mac n cheese, and lots of other things depending on the day. People say ambience isn't great. This is a deli and the area is big enough to sit and eat. Not sure why people need a TV for a quick bite. Based on great food and price, this is a five star location to get a quick bite and you won't leave hungry! read more

What have I done! Went there on a Friday for lunch. Place was dead slow and looked sketchy. The steak and cheese was terrible. Hot food/sandwiches seem to be heated in the microwave. Do yourself a favor and experiment somewhere else for lunch. read more

This is one of our favorite places to stop for a quick lunch. The food is homemade and there is always something different to choose from. The lemon chicken is awesome as well as the eggplant cheese rotini and Salisbury steaks. You get plenty of food and it sure beats stopping in a fast food joint.
