We decided to have a drink and an app. The Islander Eggrolls sounded like something small for us to share. They were crispy and had unique flavor as they had chicken and pineapple in them! We went here for what we thought could be a quick lunch before a wedding we were going to attend near by, thankfully. It wasn't busy we ordered two chicken sandwiches right away and we waited close to a half hour before we got them. Not sure what was going on. Most kinds of art are for viewing. You can see and admire, maybe touch. But this kind is my favorite. It's art-ichoke dip, and you get to eat this masterpiece ;) Spinach Artichoke Dip to start, and The Super Pizza to finish at Carbone's in Mound This dip took us on a trip. The hearty 'chokes went so well with the thick, gooey, three-cheese blend. I'd have liked some bread maybe, but the chips were fine if a spoon was used. The Super comes with double crust -- I don't know what that totally means, but it held up well to the heavily applied toppings. It was hard to cut through but I didn't complain too much. The flavors though... woah. Salami, sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, a bunch of vegetables, garlic, and extra cheese, of course. I'm excited to have solid pizza in my neighborhood. I've had that as well as the meatball sandwich....the sandwiches are huge and I took half of it home! Both were excellent. They run specials most nights so ask your server. The inside is huge, a mix of bar seating, high tops, and booths. They also have a decent size patio. A good variety of beers on tap - national and local. Technically, this is a sports bar. I didn't realize they are a chain, they have locations throughout the twin cities! read more

Owner has to be forced to switch the sound only through hounding his waitresses. We felt bad for them...wait staff told the owner he had to come out and talk to all the Packer fans or switch the sound..they were befuddled by the resistance as they asked him several times before he gave in. Shame on you....Customers don't want to put the heat on your waitstaff... and by the way, they work on tips..keep the customers happy! Note to owner: Your business can support itself without deceptive business practices. Why cater to a few regulars when people will drive 15-20 miles like we did to take in the full experience with other Packer fans. 2 stars for game visual... 3+ stars for the pizza and related Italian based menu items. Meh. Stopped in here on a Saturday night. It was busy with a class reunion going on, but otherwise I don't think it would have been too busy. The waitress seemed kind of annoyed with having to serve us, which is unfortunate. Anyway - my gripe. We ordered a large specialty pizza. I asked if we could sub green olives for the green pepper and was told "No, but I can take off green pepper and add green olive. They don't allow substitutions." This is really kind of BS because it wasn't like I was asking for no onion with sausage in it's place. Its a veggie for a veggie. FINE. So they upcharge is a ridiculous $2 and we got the tiniest sprinkling of green olive ever. In fact, the entire $23 pizza was severely lacking in toppings. Total rip off for the price. The only saving grace was the $3 off Yelp check in special so in the end I didn't 'actually' have to pay for the 3 olives I got. read more

Called yesterday to make sure the restaurant would be open for a pick up order. I am hosting my whole family for dinner tonight. I spoke with a man that told me they close at 4:30pm (4th of July). He told me get your order in by 4pm and you should be ok. I just called and Clarisa refused the order saying they are closed. I called just before 4pm like I was told. I just scratch my head when I read some of the previous reviews. I think the issues were back when Dailey's Pub and Carbone's were basically sharing the same kitchen, with a door joining the two. This was several years ago. Since then, it was totally remodeled and is just, Carbone's ! The food here is very good. The BLT is maybe the best I have ever had. The waffle fries are available with a seasoned sour cream dipping sauce, Get Some ! Delicious ! The pizza is great, the hoagies can't be beat ! Nice outdoor patio, but it is on a busy intersection. What do you do ? The only drawback is some of the local loser's that hangout here. There are so few good places out in this area. This is one of them ! read more

I've eaten at several Carbone's locations and have always had great food and service ... so that's what I expected at the Mound location. Boy was I wrong. Called in an order to picked up ... a 10-inch pizza and the Club Sandwich with no tomato. I've had the Club Sandwich at other locations and it was superb ... stacked high with shaved turkey and ham, perfectly toasted bread, etc. Outstanding. My order wasn't ready when I arrived so I paid and waited in the bar, where I sat for 15 minutes being passed by waitresses and even got a smile and a wave from the bartender, but not a single person stopped and asked if I would like to order anything. When my order came out I opened the sandwich box to make sure no tomato was on the sandwich. No tomato, BUT, also no turkey. A manager was at the cash register so I told him the kitchen didn't put turkey on my sandwich and things spiraled downhill from there. The manager told me the Club Sandwich does not come with turkey - only ham - but he could charge me $5 more and have some added. I countered that the Club Sandwich most certainly does come with turkey, that I've eaten the Carbone's Club Sandwich many times, and a Club Sandwich with just ham is not a Club Sandwich, it's a Ham Sandwich. Then I picked up a menu and showed him it does indeed come with turkey. He apologized, took the box, and said he would have the kitchen make me a new sandwich right away. 90 seconds later he emerges from the kitchen with the box and tells me they made me a new sandwich. I told him he did not and when he insisted he did, I told him he wasn't in the kitchen long enough to toast bread and he just went back there and slapped some turkey on the same sandwich. His response was, "Will that be all sir?" Now, I wasn't trying to be a d%@k, but I pointed out that other locations have shaved meat on their Club and their's looked like typical cold cuts. Also, the bread was toasted, but so lightly that it may as well have been just plain bread, and there was no mayo on it at all. Then I told him if I wanted a cold cut sandwich I could have made one at home instead of driving 15 miles one-way to pay $12 for one of theirs. His response: "Then stay home next time." Thanks buddy ... I won't stay home, but I also won't be returning to Carbone's in Mound. I can tell you this isn't typical of many of the other Carbone's I've eaten at, where the food and service has been great. This location, however, missed the mark by a mile. read more

I have been periodically visiting Carbone's dating back to the day it opened, through the days when it was a separate bar/restaurant, through the change when it became a bar and grill. So obviously a lot of changes and my experiences are varied. During the evolution I have seen it go through a change where the food used to be great and the service was bad, to more recently where the service has improved but the food has declined. I have seen some nice appetizer additions more recently but many of the menu items (particularly burgers and fajitas) have a run-of-the-mill quality for prices you would typically see associated with much better food. Great interior with a welcoming feel and great TV coverage for sports viewing. Tap beer selections have improved. I have noticed an overall improvement in Carbone's since Surfside opened and it is clear Carbone's didn't have a need to improve while it was the only game in town. Hopefully the competition between these two bar/grills will continue to make both of them better. There has been a population growth in the Westonka area that calls out for a good place to get a beer and a burger. read more

Stopped in to meet a friend. There were eight people in the place. After 15 minutes of waiting we finally saw a server, waved at her, got her attention but still did not get served. I then went to the bar. The bartender was texting on his phone. After 5 minutes of not being noticed I decided to leave the place. My friend encouraged me to stay. He went to the bar to get me a beer. My friend is of Asian origin. The bartender said that he could not understand my friend therefore he could not serve him. The bartender asked my friend how he was doing and my friend asked for a Bels Two Hearted, the bartender said that my friend did not answer the bartender's question of "how he was doing?", therefore the bartender could not serve my friend.(note that we had not had anything to drink at this point in time). This place will never receive another cent of mine. read more

Perhaps a fun place to drink, but their food doesn't meet the mark. Their chicken tenders are the bulk frozen kind and you don't get many in a serving. Small chicken wings that are too expensive. Their pizza is doughy and inconsistently prepared and made with low quality ingredients. They seem to think because they've been around awhile they can charge downtown San Francisco prices for low tier food. Service is impersonal and inexperienced. Avoid if you're hungry- you can do much better just about anywhere. Whoever runs this place obviously doesn't care about front of house basics, I would bet it's the same in the back. read more

Hanging out after a high school hockey game having a some late night burgers and beers. Nice place to watch the many different games on the numerous televisions. Wide selection of drinks, bottled or tapped. I suggest the 21st amendment blood orange IPA. From the grill, even with being a pizza joint, grab one of the burgers! Very tasty. If I could give negative stars for this place, I would! I was at the Mound Carbones' location today around 12:30pm with my two kids & two of my friends & their children (3 adults, 3 toddlers, & 2 babies). We stopped by on our way home from Minnetonka Orchards upon recommendation by the Orchard. It was all of our first time at a Carbones' so we were excited to try out the pizza & hoagies. Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience that left a bad taste in all of our mouths. Service was ungodly slow despite the 4 employees behind the counter. The female employee taking orders could not figure out the register so all of our orders were entered in incorrectly. After we had placed our order, we sat in the booth right across from the cash register. The same employee came up to us & asked us if we were dining in because if we were, then there was a server that was supposed to take our order. We didn't see a server when we came in & it was our first time at the restaurant, so we were not aware of that detail. We told her this & she said "Oh, I guess I can bring out your order." When she brought out our order, it was incomplete & incorrect. A kid's pb&j pizza was missing & an item in a takeout box was brought out. Eventually, this got straightened out, but we had to go back up to the counter & request our beverages. I stood at the counter for an unreasonable amount of time not being acknowledged. One employee was going on a smoke break. Another was dividing up some cake while another was juggling a knife. I seriously contemplated going behind the counter to get the drinks myself because it would have been quicker! Our kids were starting to meltdown because the food order wasn't correct & they had to wait on their milk. With so many different pizza options in the area, I don't think we will be stopping by again. read more

The waitress was kind enough to take it off of our bill and that was great. Then at supper time, we ordered a large super pizza to go and the crust was black! We have learned our lesson. I have such mixed reviews on this place. The food has been good, but sometimes it's horrendous. We've been told different things by different servers, leading me to believe there is a lack of communication. The drink prices are spot on for the area and the food is generally good. They do offer gluten free pizza crust, but we've received a lot of mixed information regarding the crusts which makes me wary. I've gotten quite sick from being 'glutened' there before, so not quite sure what that was all about. Overall, since it's local and has a good bar, we'll be back. But the servers and cooks should be trained better in serving gluten free guests. And if management doesn't want to do that, remove the gluten free crust option, simple as that. read more

I come here often with my young daughters and we all love it...highly requested by my kiddos :) Food is really good...like more so than you would imagine from a Carbone's. Let me make one thing clear...THIS IS NOT AN AVERAGE CARBONE'S...this place is like a Champp's but way better atmosphere and friendlier staff! Great hosts/hostesses, awesome servers, and hands-on management truly make it what it is....I mean, the Big Buck Hunter HD, dart boards, and vending/games for the kids doesn't hurt either. I went there with my family while we were visiting them in Minnesota. I must say that I was less than impressed with Carbone's. The decor was pretty cheesy and they had the Gophers game on the TVs and blasting over the radio which didn't set the stage for a great dinner. The server was moderately attentive, but wouldnt' bring waters for the table despite multiple requests. On several occasions, she brought A drink for the ONE person who requested waters for the table. It's irritating, but the experience could be redeemed with great food. This was not that. The magherita pizza was made with flavorless tomatoes which left the pizza sub-par. The other pizzas that we had were fine, but nothing knocked it out of the park. The combination of the game blasting, the boring decor, the un-awesome service, and the meh pizza left me at 2 stars. There has to be better than this in the Western 'burbs of Minneapolis!! read more
