This is hands down my favorite restaurant in White Bear Lake. The vibe is a little retro, with the…read morepink panther floating around, and the old red glass lighting. But it still provides the best homemade italian food in the area. A local staple for decades, they make everything fresh in house, from Italian fries, to dunkers, pasta and more. There is always something to please everyone, and at very affordable prices. The staff is also amazing, super attentive and if you are a regular, they make sure to learn your name and make you feel like part of the family. I love the addition of their grab and go area, so that you can take some of the pastas and pizza's home with you for days you can't get there. But either way, it is a true gem of a spot, and you should not miss out!

Sooo impressed with their 1 full page of gluten free options. I chose the gfree tortellini carbonara on the waitress's suggestion and it did not disappoint. I also ordered a side salad. It was creamy and oh so good and came with the most fantastic and soft 2 gfree dinner rolls. Yummm. Positives - no wait on a Friday night, lots of kitschy pink panthers to check out, gelato bar, the frozen/refrigerated section. Cannot wait to go back!

She was warm, pleasant, and took the time to chat with us. The food was SO good. As vegetarians, we had plenty to choose from, which is always appreciated. We tried the focaccia, cheese tortellini, and margherita pizza, and everything was excellent. We even grabbed a pasta dish to go for our teenage son, who gave it his own enthusiastic seal of approval. Our only little gripe: we were excited to see the Caesar salad labeled "VEG," since a truly vegetarian Caesar is surprisingly hard to find. We double-checked with our waitress, and unfortunately the dressing does contain anchovies. Fish is, alas, still an animal. Vegetarian generally means no meat or fish, while lacto-ovo vegetarians still eat dairy and eggs. Definitely not a dealbreaker, but the menu labeling could use a small correction so fellow vegetarians don't get overly excited about their Caesar prospects. The atmosphere was cozy with dim lighting and a really comfortable feel. At one point some questionable country music came on, but the universe apparently heard our distress and the playlist miraculously switched to rock. Crisis averted. Overall, delicious food, lovely service, great atmosphere, and plenty for vegetarians. We'll absolutely be back because the bruschetta still needs ordering. Highly recommend!

Hello my fellow travelers! This fine evening in Stillwater,…read moreI decided to check out Gio's again. Let's just say they did not disappoint in their lack of service. We walked in because the sidewalk board was still out and the sign on the door stated they were open until 10:00 PM. Upon entering, the bartender acknowledged us and then simply continued cleaning. After about 5 minutes, she went to the kitchen and came back out to inform us that they were closing early and we needed to go to another establishment. This is the second time I have been turned away here. Honestly, I would not recommend a restaurant that advertises it is open and then turns paying customers away.

I was told the pizza would be ready in 65 minutes. I showed up 15 minutes early (on my way home). He immediately barked out that it would be an hour more. I already had people at my house and I live 20 minutes away so waiting an hour was a huge issue. They told me I could cancel my order but then I would have had to scramble and find something different. Eventually one of the younger guys nicely said it would be ready in 20-30 minutes but the older man was shaking his head no and clearly upset. I called one of my friends who was coming late and asked him to pick them up when he was coming through. When my friends came, they said the older man was pissed at them too, using the F word and complaining that he has to deal with the larger order (8 pizzas). Super disappointing to have my pizzas 30 minutes late, after I had intentionally ordered ahead. And really discouraging to be treated so poorly on my first order and giving a big order of business. Needless to say, I won't ever go back here. Unpredictable ready times and being treated so poorly just for wanting a bigger order of pizza ready and not an hour late.
