My tanks were expired so I got some extra helpful info. co2 tanks expire every 5 years and need to be recertified. If your tanks are expired you can exchange the same size here for a fee plus the refill fee. A 10lb tank exchange is currently $45 for a certified tank plus the refill fee. They don't trade up or down sizes and they didn't have any 10lb in stock but are expecting more in a few days on the next delivery so I left with the empty tanks that I brought. I've driven past this place thousands of times and funally had a reason to stop in and check it out, I will go back here next time I need to. read more

Great place for CO2! Drive up and there was an employee that was already helping another customer. He was helping load their tanks. He saw me and asked if I had a refill and I handed the tank to him. He told me to go inside and tell them I had a 20 pound tank refill. I went inside and within 30 seconds, 3 people said, "We'll be right with you". Why 3? They were having a team meeting it looked like but the front desk person wasn't there to help me immediately. They were all so polite and nice! After about 5 minutes total, I had paid and walked outside. The tank was already waiting for me outside! I had never been here or dealt with a gas filling situation but this place made it SO SO easy. Cost for a 20 pound CO2 tank was about $50. They did have a $0.39 per pound surcharge due to a shortage. They also had it as a different line item as a "temporary surcharge" so I have no reason to believe they're trying to gouge their customers. Normally it'd have been ~$35. read more

If you're like me and you use a Sodastream but want alternatives to the Sodastream canisters, look no further but Carbonic Service. We got SodaMod canisters and other places weren't offering beverage grade CO2 refill services anymore so we took them here. The refill was $17 per SodaMod canister, which is roughly the same as exchanging the branded canisters if this is something worth thinking about. One of the staff were kind enough inform me of their own exchange program with the actual Sodastream canisters and alternatives to connecting CO2 to your Sodastream machine. While getting a 5lb tank is a more cost-efficient way of getting CO2, I don't have enough counter space to have this. If you have the space, it is definitely worth considering and Carbonic Service carries the adapter kit. read more

I came in to find a setup for the soda stream. Be sure to stop by before closing 0400p and avoid the Lunch time 1130-1230. The kind young lady understood my need for the tank and hose hookup for the soda stream machine, and quickly rang up what I need: the 5lbs CO2 tank (steel or aluminum, which the later is lighter but not available at the time), and the hose. She also kindly explain how I will refill in the future: ring up at the counter and finish payment, and then the side gate would have someone swap the tank. The price for the tank and the hose is pretty reasonable, and I am fine with the tank that doesn't look super shiny and new since this is the place I will swop the tank anyway. The walkout price is around $170 which is reasonable for the convenience. The hose they have a the shop is the black coated hose that you might be able to find at Amazon cheaper. For the hacking sodastream newbies: you will need a large wrench to screw up the hose tight enough to the tank side. Hand screwing is not tight enough and you would hear gas hissing out of where it connects to the tank. I also use some Teflon tape then I was able to set up the soda stream hack. I came here to refill my Soda stream bottles. Service was quick, social distancing measures were up, lady in the front was stern looking but efficient. You go into the store, pay for the refill and go back outside and wait by the side gate, a man will be called and he will bring out canisters for the exchange. I exchanged two of the standard size tanks (60 L) and it costed $34. Was it cheaper than Target? No but my local Target is always out of these suckers and coming here ensures I'll get a replacement. The bottles they gave me were uglier then the original sodastream bottles, not really a problem since it will be hidden in the Sodastream machine but I hope it does not affect my ability to exchange them at Target in the future. Prices are outrageously high. You will pay 10% more to fill a 20 lbs tank as you will a 5 lbs tank. Never before have I encountered such a high minimum cost to fill a CO2 cylinder. I think 5 lbs was like $35 and when I asked about my 20 lbs I was told $39 IIRC. So if you have a larger tank great, but for small tanks it's terribad. read more

I live in Hayward so its a bit of a drive. But I thought I would save some time an try the airgas store near my house, big mistake. they wanted 73$ for 10# of co2. I noped out on them and drove over here and paid 30$ for co2. I also hear that airgas would not have filled my tank but exchanged it for an old tank. Fantastic! I discovered this place trying to refill my co2 tank after moving here. I've only dealt with Airgas back home, and they don't care about small home brew types... I showed up after closing (they close at 4), but they still filled my tank in a few minutes. Very happy about that! The next day, I needed some help hooking up a carbonator for a little home soda system I've been working on. I was missing a fitting. They set me up, and offered plenty of advice in my build. I was looking to refill sodastream bottles at home. A purchase of a 20# tank + siphon tube ($28) + fill was a little over $200 after tax. You can get it a little cheaper online, but I'm happy to spend a little more to keep this friendly and efficient business going. the 20# fill price is about $30 as of 2/2021. In 5 years when the tank needs recert, I'd guess the fee will be a little higher than the current $35. bought the valve setup from amazon for $30 ... the two valve with pressure gauge that's not too useful. No problem filling new version sodastream bottles (with the check valve). I didn't bother freezing or venting to try and get a complete fill. Got in around 1080 grams when a complete fill is 1170. read more

One of the last places in the bay area to my knowledge that will fill/swap gas. I only go here to get carbon dioxide filled for my aquarium and their prices are typical of most places. A 10lb fill is similar to a 5lb fill so if you are looking to maximize your value more is better. If your tank is expired they will do a swap. The service is prompt and I have never had any issues getting my gas. Parking might be a little tight in their lot, but you are in and out fast enough that it is not an issue. Earlier today I dropped by here to have my co2 tank refilled for my planted aquarium and just to share my feedback and experience, I felt the business did overall fantastic. The sweet gal at the front desk was very positive in her level of customer service in which she fulfilled my request to have my 10lb co2 tank refilled. The total came out to be $32 which of course will vary on tank size and although I don't know the prices offered at other business' I found this to be reasonable in my opinion. There was no other customers ahead of me so from the time I begin the purchase transaction at the front desk to the time my tank was refilled at the outside drop off door, it took only about 10 minutes. This was a quick process which is why I believe even though the parking lot is very restricted and limited, it shouldn't be a problem since people are coming in and out. read more

Hard to relate how ill a fit this business is for home brewers. Bad location, with terrible hours (feel like taking time off from work to get a CO2 tank refill? This is your place!) and dodgy service. Today they handed me a refilled 5 lbs CO2 tank that was audibly venting, When I asked them to check it, they said that everything was now tight and fine. Came in today at 1:30pm to drop off 3 tank. I told the lady at the front "I'm here to return 3 tank" she said okay what size I have and told her two 20lbs and one 50lbs so she assume I'm replacing them and when I unloaded the tanks from my suv she had someone give me replacing one. I told her I'm only returning not replacing and she was arguing that I said to replace. I told her regardless I would like to return not replace and she seem kept saying what I need to replace I told her none. I'm here to return the tank and she seem piss at me for returning the tank not replacing. Didn't like the service she was giving me so won't be coming back. She said she was not sure if the tank could be refilled and asked me to wait for the guy that does the refills who was out for lunch. So waited 15mins. The receptionist said you can wait inside or in your car. The guy shows up and says "let me try to see my f I can refill it". I will be back in few minutes. I tell the receptionist I will wait in my car, not knowing how long would it take to get my tank back. The receptionist replies "No, you have to wait here, you have not paid for the refill yet so we must keep an eye on you and wait here" I was obviously offended and replied "well, you have my tank which is more valuable than the refill right? In addition, my car is just outside. Her replied was "do whatever you want then" yelling at me and whispering "all Mexicans are the same" they want to take advantage of this country. I waited for my tank out of respect and paid for it. Also complained with the manager who offered not to charge me because of the incident. I replied I do jot need a discount, only a good respectful service. He gave me a 50% discount anyways. It seems to be a good manager that unfortunately hired the wrong person. Built a home drink carbonation system and needed my brand new CO2 tank filled. I searched Yelp and found several places, most of which multiple Yelp users claimed were cheaper than this place, so naturally I skipped Carbo nic's page and sought other places. After speaking with a friend who owns a bar, he said they had an acct with Carbonic and that I could jump in on their refill as long as I take their tanks down and get them filled as well. Did I take him on the offer? HELL YES!! My friend said that there may be issues with MY tank because it's new and they may require a pressure test or something, which would cost extra, but after meeting with the rep they actually had no issues with my tank. Instead, they had an issue with my FRIENDS tank! lol Apparently you can't fill a Coke brand tank at their establishment. The rep made a one time exception and I was in and out within 10mins. Overall the staff was really friendly and knowledgable. I didn't check prices for when I come back for a refill but so far it was a good experience. I may be back....as long as I can jump in on my boys refill again! lol If not, then we'll see... They still get a decent rating in my book! read more

As soon as I walked in the door my Co2 canister was politely taken from me to be filled. The lady working at the desk was nothing but kind and friendly. It cost a little over $20 to get my 5lb canister filled. By the time my credit card was done the guy was back with my canister and I was out the door.
