Yum!! Cardigan donuts are so fresh, airy, and incredibly yummy!! I put in a pickup order for a few dozen for an event I had and everything was made on time. Pickup was a breeze and the staff was so nice and helpful. I'll be ordering from Cardigan again, the best local donuts in town!

I arrived on a Saturday at 9:30 AM to get their featured donut of the week, the viral tiramisu donut. It was the most delicious donut I've ever had in my entire life. It has a sweet mascarpone creme coffee flavor center & coffee icing on top. They pull it at 10 AM because it contains dairy is what I was told so I wanted to make sure I got there before 10 AM. My all-time favorite donut at cardigan donuts as the French cruller, but they do not have this often. My second favorite donut here is the old-fashioned glazed and also the Boston cream donuts are to die for. I love this place, it is very clean, and the service is very fast.

I had the best experience today than I have ever had at a business. The staff is beyond friendly and caring. The two women working this afternoon definitely made me want to frequent going to this shop. The location was very clean and well organized. The donuts and coffee tasted great! This location is a bit far away from where I live but if I ever get a chance to swing by here again then I definitely will. Keep up the great work!

We did a DoorDash order for 9 am drop off at our house. We were able to order ahead and the donuts came fresh and on time. Food: 5/5. These are the best old fashioned and apple fritter donuts I've had in awhile. The old fashioned donuts almost melt in your mouth and the fritters are light and fluffy with the perfect size apple chunks. The maple bacon weren't my favorite, the bacon overpowered the maple instead of complimented it, but I can't say enough about all the other ones we tried. Service: 5/5. Technically our service was Door Dash, but overall our order came correctly and on time. Definitely worth the trip downtown or delivery!

I genuinely don't like donuts all that much but this place was fantastic! Came here really early in the morning and was surprised there was already a big line. I ordered the Caramel Delight and I thought it would be more like a Girl Scout Samosa cookie flavor but it wasn't. The donut itself had a great texture as it was both cakey and had the donut/bagel bit to it. Also I really appreciate it wasn't that sweet and the coconut shavings really balanced out the caramel flavors. Definitely recommend when in Minneapolis to check this place out. Also, I do have to say that I was super impressed by the fact that the dining space was huge and there was plenty of different types of seating available. You could really work from here and treat this like a coffee shop. Also for Valentine's Day they had a mini craft area where you can make Valentine Day cards using their templates!

Cardigan Donuts is an absolute gem! Their old-fashioned donut is a must-try--it's perfectly crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside, and bursting with flavor. The old-fashioned with chocolate was hands down my favorite--rich, decadent, and absolutely delicious. The apple fritter was another highlight--crispy, sweet, and so enjoyable. I also tried the blueberry donut, which tasted just like a fresh blueberry muffin--such a delightful treat! While the coffee cake donut wasn't my favorite and not a flavor I'd pick again, it was still well-made and enjoyable in its own right. Overall, the quality and creativity of their donuts are top-notch. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. We were back a few times during our stay for snacking and just because it was so good. The service is exceptional and friendly the moment you walk in the door. The inside is cute clean and cozy with tables and chairs to sit at inside. They were located right off of our hotel and through the skyway so you didn't need to walk outside at all. They did close pretty early around 3pm.

The Mummy: Pomegranate ginger jelly filled w/ Vanilla orange ermine icing Hazelnut Latte
    Jennifer S.

Grabbed this cute mummy donut (pomegranate ginger jelly filled w/ vanilla orange ermine icing) and a hazelnut latte from Cardigan Donuts and it made my day! The design was super fun for Halloween, and the donut itself was soft and fresh with just the right amount of sweetness. Paired it with a latte and it was such a good combo. Definitely a fun seasonal treat worth trying! The service was great, the staff were super attentive to each customer, and the shop had a cozy, welcoming vibe that made it easy to just relax and enjoy my coffee. Overall, a great place to stop by for a quick pick me up!

Best old fashioned donuts in the city! Don't believe me? Try them for yourself! Some local Minneapolis coffeehouse sell these donuts, but they're best right from their downtown bakery. They have a basic lineup, but create a number of specialty donuts each week. This time I visited and there was death by chocolate, chai coffee cake and so many more! They also make delicious parfait bowls and gourmet coffee drinks. See pics if weren't already feeling hungry! Be sure to get their newsletter and sign up for the birthday club.

Donuts brought into the department meeting
    Stephanie M.

Donuts were brought to a department meeting and I was able to try a couple different flavors. The dough of the donuts was delicious. It had a yeasty flavor that does not often come across in the fried donut. These donuts are melt in your mouth soft and had a pillowy texture. I personally am a bigger fan of donuts that have a sturdier an slightly denser texture. Even for donuts I felt these were pretty sweet.

A Cardigan donut; cozy and very comforting! While walking thru City Center Mall, by accident I came across Cardigan Donuts located on the 2nd floor down the way from Chase Bank. Being a true donut diva, I wanted to go in and look, select and taste all the types of donuts; old fashioned, glazed raised, filled, cake and iced. I didn't see a cruller but I got there later in the day so they could have been sold out along with Boston creme (my favorite). I'll be back in town next week to try those. I challenge you to make the cruller if you don't already. Not many places get this texture right. I believe you can! The shop was beautifully laid out and I liked they had donuts showcased front and center! These beauties weren't going to last the rest of the day. It's small batches here and not production baking so you get a better experience. Naomi helped me with my order, was so nice and packed my donuts neatly. The Critique: 5/5 5- Excellent quality ingredients used and flavors were exceptional. 5- Not a spot of oil or oil residue in the box even after 2 days! Box was also paper lined. 5- Unique Orange curd filled donut was sumptuous made with fresh orange juice and flecks of orange peel! 5- Perfect crack on the old fashioned 5- Glaze and icings like silk - not gritty 5- Powdered (sugar) perfectly dusted on the donuts and not all over you or other donuts in the box! Subtle coating as it should be! 5- Glazed Raised - Perfect rise and rest time on the fry screens before frying - Wound love to see Crullers (I might have been too late in the day to snag one!) and a Dutch crumb featured

First of all wow, this place is huge. So much space to sit and loved the little fireplace. Really the interiors were just so nice. However we got our donuts to go. I have to say that they had some really fancy seasonals with lots of extras on top of a donut but those really weren't as good as their more basic donuts. One of the seasonal choices I think was a strawberry cheesecake but we really didn't get that cheesecake flavor and it was our least favorite. I also got a kombucha here. Ordering it was a little strange. I asked the staff what the flavor was but instead of telling me they just asked if I wanted to sample it which is great but I'm still not really sure what flavor it was but c'est la vie

I think Caffetto kind of corners a market that no one else has by being open so late--most coffee shops are barely open past noon, and they're open until midnight! I've personally spent many a late night there finishing up work--it's a really cozy atmosphere, and the selection of pinball machines in the basement are the perfect study break activity. The staff are all great and even when there's a line, they get through it quick and are still able to offer great recommendations--while I usually prefer an iced green tea with no ice, I've tried the lattes, cold press, Thai coffee, and hot chocolate and have genuinely never had a bad drink here. The only thing is to make sure you watch your step if you're walking in the basement--even though it has seating and pinball and the bathroom, it's more of an unfinished space with uneven flooring and I personally rolled my ankle and fell there last year haha.

I had a triple decaf almond milk latte that tasted like it was caffeinated to me but didn't give me the buzz I'm so addicted to, that's when you know it's a good decaf. I love the coziness and the unique artwork in Caffetto. I look forward to coming back at an earlier hour to feed my addiction. But it's great to know I have a go to coffee shop for those afternoon cravings where the decaf tastes just as delightful! UPDATE- 2 hours later: there's additional seating and a pinball machine room in the basement, glad I went downstairs to the bathroom.

The soaring industrial ceilings, massive windows pouring in natural light, dark wood shelving, plants everywhere, books, artwork, vintage decor, and incredible lighting somehow make the whole place feel both grand and peaceful. It's the kind of space where you immediately want to cancel your plans and spend the entire afternoon reading, working, or simply existing. Every direction you look feels thoughtfully designed. One thing I couldn't find online beforehand was whether there would be places to plug in my laptop. Thankfully, there are plenty of outlets, making it a fantastic place to work. Even better, despite its size, the atmosphere stays calm and quiet. It never felt loud or chaotic. The drinks were excellent. I tried the Lime Creamsicle Iced Matcha and later ordered a hot matcha, complete with a beautiful heart poured into the milk. I especially appreciated that they use what tasted like genuine, high-quality matcha rather than the overly sweet, filler-heavy mixes that so many coffee shops rely on. You can absolutely taste the difference. I also picked up two pastries: an artichoke and cheese croissant (I think it was Gouda?) and the coffee cake. Both were delicious, but that coffee cake deserves its own paragraph. It was huge, incredibly moist and rich, and served in a large paper liner almost like an oversized cupcake. I'd happily go back just for that. If I had one wish, it would simply be for the menu to match the creativity of the space. The coffee, tea, and espresso selections felt a bit limited considering how unique everything else is. This seems like the perfect place to experiment with fun specialty drinks and elevated touches. Imagine pink peppercorn on a cortado, mint dust on a cappuccino, unique flavored cold foams, rotating seasonal teas, or other creative finishes. The environment practically begs for a menu that's just as imaginative. The staff interaction was fine but didn't really stand out. When I asked whether they recommended the Lime Creamsicle Matcha, the response was basically, "I mean... it tastes like a lime creamsicle." It wasn't unfriendly, just not especially engaging. The prices are definitely on the higher end, but between the stunning atmosphere, quality ingredients, and excellent pastries, I'd happily return. Backstory isn't just somewhere to grab coffee. It's somewhere you want to linger. If you're looking for one of the most beautiful, calming coffee shops in Minneapolis, this belongs at the top of your list.
