I've been to this place before and it's always been really good.But today I tried the chili Relleno and I have to say it's the best I've ever had.Usually you struggle to cut through one of these things but not this one.This one you could cut through it with a fork with no problem.And it really had a great flavor to it.And the service was great as usual.I would highly recommend this place.The only thing about this place they are only open Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 2:30.I have to say this place offers some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. read more

I ordered two soft tacos with beef. They weren't what I expected. They had lettuce and tomatoes covering them. I was expecting Queso for some reason. They were very good but I'll read the descriptions more closely next time. I might try something else next time. I picked up some of their Beef Tamales and they are really good. I also picked up some of their Spicy chips for home. I remember eating their Chips at Los Alamos when they were in business. They were good and the Los Alamos salsas were very good and 9am the right amount of spiciness for me. Muy picante!!! I miss Alfred, Alex, and Norma. We come here almost every Sunday for breakfast, migas are the BEST! Breakfast is only served on Sunday, 9-2. They are closed on Saturday. You can also order off the regular menu. My wife and I have a "lunch date" each and every Thursday. There are times when we get into a "rut" and eat at the same restaurants over and over. This week my wife said we were going somewhere new, some place I hadn't beet to before. I was intrigued and excited. We drove into an industrial area off Meacham Blvd. She said we were there and told me to turn into the parking lot of a warehouse looking building. The funny thing was there was no sign out front letting anyone know what the building was. We walked in the door and the restaurant was packed. Someone knew something that I didn't! We were seated immediately. Chip and salsa arrived at our table shortly after we had time to look at the extensive menu. I was watching the plates being delivered to the adjoining tables, the plates and servings were massive. Oh my gosh, no one could go away hungry from Cardona's! My wife ordered the "lite" lunch with a crispy taco, rice and refried beans. I ordered the Mexican Diner which consisted of a homemade tamale and choice of enchilada. I opted for the sour cream chicken enchilada. As we were waiting on our entrees we munched on tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were hot and crisp, not greasy at all the the salsa had just enough "kick" to make it interesting to the taste buds. Our entree arrived very quickly and they were fantastic. My plate had one of the best tamales on it I've ever had at a restaurant. The chicken enchilada was packed full of shredded chicken meat. The rice and refried beans were both seasoned perfectly. My wife said her crispy taco was delicious. It's so refreshing to have a new restaurant on our Thursday "lunch date" rotation. We'll definitely be back soon to "Cardona's" for lunch. Came in for a quick lunch with my Director if Electronics, while in town. Walked in and was seated quickly. Fresh chips and salsa whisked out to the table before the waitress and drinks could be seen. The chips are the perfect thickness. The chip doesn't become soggy and creates an even crunch break in the chip leaving less crumbs or none at all. It's like the perfect chip... but the salsa was just okay. My recommendation? Mix up your rice and beans from your entree and use that as your dip with those awesome slightly salty chips. After my order came out right, 15 minutes after it was wrong, the chicken and cheese enchiladas with a fried egg on top was exceptional! I respect the fact that my food was fresh both times. Yolk is left runny and mixes as a sauce with the other dish components. The whites blend perfectly with the enchiladas. My problem was the service. Predominantly Latina women. This restaurant is in a very industrial, warehouse-heavy area so I think the bulk of its business is nearby employees grabbing breakfast or lunch before going back into work. The queso is velveeta :( this breaks my heart when I eat Mexican food because there are so many simple ways to make queso with real cheese. The Chile relleno itself was pretty good. Seasoned, braised pulled chicken inside but my favorite part of the meal was still the sides. They have the regular beans and rice or sautéed veggie and salad options as well. For the price, I would rather drive an extra few minutes to Chuy's or Mercado Juárez. The food is just alright. A group of 4 of us came here on a Friday afternoon and it was a fantastic experience. Their chips are INCREDIBLE and you can even buy them by the bag. The food is delicious and authentic. I had the Enchiladas Montanados, which was an enchilada with a fried egg on top, and it was so good that I almost don't ever want to order anything else again (but now I want to try the entire menu). I usually judge Tex Mex places on their beans, and they passed my test with flying colors. The rice was very good too and all of our dishes together was a very affordable price. I also want to make sure I give a ton of praise to our waitress. She was so sweet and quick. She was also detailed about explaining exactly what you were getting when you ordered in case you want to edit your order (no meat or sub chili for queso) or add on sides to the lunch combos. And the salsa is a bit different every time so you know they make it fresh daily. The servers are good. Busy, attentive but busy. They get you every thing you ask for. Whatever you order over here, it will fill you up. The food is good, but not great. Usually during lunch time the place is packed. They are extremely busy during lunch, but considering that, the service is pretty decent. My favorite on their menu is the Tilapia Veracruz. The Carne Guisada is really tasty, but a bit too oily. The Grilled Steak Torta is a pretty good choice too. read more

We were looking for tamales for Thanksgiving and gave Cardona Foods a shot on a recommendation from Trey's Chow Down. They were outstanding! We got three dozen of all pork tamales, there was no gristle and the there was about two parts filler to masa. The only thing missing was a little salt, but that was obviously an easy fix.
