I called Careful Movers and asked them to move my hot tub off of my patio then back on a few weeks later after a new patio was installed. They said the price would be $700. I thought that price was pretty danged high, but it needed to be done and I assumed it would include moving it off of the patio, then back on a few weeks later since that was what I requested. They showed up and moved it off the patio into the yard in about 10 minutes. They said I had to pay right then, so I did. When I called them a few weeks later to move it back on the patio, they said they could come in a few days and it would be $700. I reminded them I had already pad the full price for moving it off then back on. They said that that was only the charge for the day they were here, and I would have to pay again. I stated that $700 for less than 15 minutes of work was absolutely outrageous and I wouldn't be paying that. All they said was OK, thanks. Do not hire these guys for anything, I consider them to be deceitful and dishonest in their charging. I am truly disappointed and would never use them again, ever! read more

I'm very disappointed with Careful Movers. They were not careful and were unprofessional. They arrived an hour outside of the window of time they were expected to arrive (as stated in the contract) and were unprepared for our move. They brought zero boxes and were unable to pack anything for us. We asked multiple times to move a large pot off of our balcony and it never got moved. I found wrappers from OUR granola bars left littered through-out our office and they requested lunch/dinner be purchase for them on our drive to our new home. I seriously would reconsider using this moving company. The only thing positive I can say is they were available on the day we requested but now I know why. Look elsewhere. SUCH a disappointment! First they rescheduled our move, then they were late, then they tried to rush out after admitting to forgetting we had boxes downstairs. Our entire household would have easily fit in the truck, but by the time they let us know they forgot an entire level of our house they said they would have to repack and could they come back next week... We had to assist them in getting things out and in because the incompetence was severe. They wanted to take doors off, so we taught them about angles. There were "3 professional movers" but one was so little he feared lifting a duffle bag and stood there while I carried in stuff from the truck on the other side. We unexpectedly needed to disassemble a crib and they were told not to worry about reassembly if it would take more than ten minutes. Dude would not give up and spent more like 35 minutes only to leave us with screws falling out of the structure in the weeks following. I asked very reasonably to be refunded even slightly and it took nearly two months for some guy there to e-mail me back with the claim that I was lying. It's a family business so I really tried to be understanding, but the experience impacted our move negatively enough for me to write this review. I do not recommend Careful Movers. read more

Showed up very late for pick-up (in an unmarked horse trailer!!), dropped several boxes during the pick-up and then provided me with no paperwork, no contracts, nothing. After going around and round with them for days trying to schedule the drop-off, they showed up late again and the movers (who showed up smoking cigarettes in their cab) came onto me in a VERY uncomfortable way (I'm a woman, alone, and you're in my apartment - wtf?!) Came down to the northern Green Lake area, no problem, very nice folks, on time, and efficient. They moved me out of Door-to-Door storage pods and into the house, so I don't know how they do moving. Per the norm, they charged flat-rate for drive time and 3-hour minimum. While they are called "Careful" Movers, I don't think they're any more careful than any other moving service. They didn't notice their dolly was scratching the front steps, and they dented a wall while moving a large piece of furniture that we didn't notice until they left, but really, they're only human. I needed them on a Sunday and only called on the preceding Thursday, and that was no problem (no "overtime" for it being a weekend). Pretty much the only place in the area that always answered their phone and didn't balk at "stupid" questions, so I'd recommend them and use them again. read more

I've been so busy post move that neglected to write a review! We moved from Seattle to MLT - two Bed apartment (first floor) to a Condo (second floor). Move went just fine - the movers arrived on time - were ready to go right away - have plenty of moving pads and used cellophane to protect drawer (and keep them shut). They had a truck that was perfect size and we didn't need to do "two runs" to get it done. We even had the classic "OMG" this item won't go down the hall moment towards the end of the move. After a few minutes of head scratching the movers figured out it came apart in half. They took it apart, moved it to place and reassembled it. Total cost of move was around $500 for a little over 3 1/2 hours. I did the packing myself and nothing of ours were damaged. I was really impressed and if I have to move again I am calling Careful Movers. read more

Ok I move a lot more than most people and I hate moving myself (you know, renting the truck, cashing in on favors from friends, etc), so I use a moving company. I have used Careful Movers for the past 3 moves and let me tell you, I could not have been more pleased with the service. They are affordable, efficient, they show up when they say they will and they don't 'lose' or break stuff. My moves have been relatively short distance and not very complex, but it's great to know there's a local company I can count on. I plan to use them again this summer! Update 8/29/07: we moved again in July and once again we used Careful Movers. They did not disappoint - right on time, right on budget and they worked very fast. Absolutely amazing job. 3 nice men showed up a 1/2 hour early. They worked non stop for 10 full hours. Nothing broke. We moved 2 unpacked apartments. We're talking upstairs and hills. Careful Movers was hired to move a hot tub from one residence to another (3 miles) for my boss. We received a quote of between $700 - $800 for the move. We agreed to this. When the movers arrived, the moving company called me and said that due to the scope of work they would need to increase the bid from high end of $800 to an additional $150.00 For a total of $950.00. At the point they called, they had already begun moving the tub, so clearly was no longer an option to decline service. I felt nervous, so I left work to go oversee the move myself. When the movers first touched the tub, it was holding water just fine.... When my boss had the tub serviced, cleaned and filled...it no longer held water. When I reached out to the company regarding a solution, they claimed no liability and offered no assistance. read more

Hired careful movers to move a hot tub. It was a disaster. They tried to shake me down for more money every chance they got. Delivered two weeks late and left the hot tub in the middle of my driveway. The tub was damaged and looked abused. I filed a complaint with better business bureau and with my credit company. FYI: I did lots of research before I went with Careful Movers. I found that all the bad reviews were attributes to prior management. New management took over at the end of 2009. My wife and I moved from a 5th floor, 850 sq ft apartment in the heart of Capitol Hill to a single family home in Kirkland. Careful Movers wasn't the lowest quote (actually the highest), but they offered to cap the rate with a handshake and a written contract. At 8am SHARP on move day (August 21st, 2010), I heard a motorcycle from a block away and quickly saw a rider leading a 24ft Careful Movers truck through a tricky intersection. The biker and 3 more guys were the crew for my same-day pack & move. After introducing themselves and my listening to my instructions they promptly got to work. I had originally planed on hanging around to watch just to make sure everything is okay... but I was soon at ease and left to run some errands. When I returned from an errand I saw the truck was already ~1/3 full and that they had loaded my road bike. After some consideration, I rolled my bike out of the truck to my SUV in the underground parking and while I was riding the elevator up (less than 5 minutes from when I took the bike) I received a call from the lead mover apologizing that someone stole my bike. As the elevator door opened and he saw me, I told him I had taken the bike just a few minutes before and put it in my car. Relieved, he quickly shouted down to the 3 other guys frantically running around the neighborhood searching for the bike (I wouldn't have wanted to be the unfortunate soul who stole the bike). I later found out that they had already called the police before they called me. Although I didn't mean to create this stress for them, I was SUPER impressed that they reacted that quickly and maturely without trying to hide anything from me. So, the packing went well and they unpacked me in Kirkland. The guys were literally sprinting back to the truck for each load and then carefully putting the box where I directed. With 4 guys they packed, moved and unpacked my entire apartment in 7.5 hours. They pulled away from my new house with an empty truck at 3:30. I can't recommend these guys enough! UPDATE: 9/23/11 My wife and I bought a house in the same neighborhood and had Careful Movers come move us again. This time, we had a 9 month old in tow, so it was especially helpful. They packed everything and delivered to the new house. The only thing I hate about moving (no matter who moves me) is that I can't ever find anything when I need it. Needless to say, we are still unpacking, but nothing has shown up damaged or broken yet. I would still highly recommend them. read more

I used Careful Movers four years ago when I was recarpeting and remodeling. They took almost a moving-truck load of old furniture to the dump, including a huge and enormously heavy upright piano, and moved the rest of my furniture onto the deck while the house was recarpeted, and then back into the house when it was done. So no actual boxing up or "moving", but a lot of heavy lifting and schedule coordination. The (mostly) positives: 1. On fairly short notice, they worked with me to get things done on schedule, to meet the requirements of the carpet people and to get things back into the house quickly when that was done. They were not particularly punctual, and not particularly responsive to calls about late arrivals, but the delays were not major and everything pretty much got done when it had to get done, and again, it was on fairly short notice. 2. For the effort involved, the price was reasonable. 3. The workers were pleasant and set about to work efficiently. The big negative: 1. They were not very careful. First, they broke a large glass dining tabletop. As I was semi-inclined to get rid of the table anyway, this was no big deal to me, but it could have been a big deal to someone else. Then in moving the piano, they caused a long scratch clear across the dining room hardwood floor, another long gouge scratch across the porch deck, and broke a porch floorboard. Now, this was a very heavy piano, but it was moved into the house without damage, so it was possible to handle it with adequate care. Even that, however, is not why I rated the company down; accidents happen. The problem was that, although the damage was noted on the contract and the workers assured me the company would call to get it fixed, they never did. My several calls to the office to try to deal with the matter were answered along the lines of, "I'll have to look into it," and never followed through on. I've still got an ugly scratch on my floor to remind me of not-so-"Careful" Movers. The lack of interest in or effort to resolve a problem would make it unlikely that I would use their services again. read more

We only needed a truck the size to move a 480 sq ft apartment, not a house. The movers were VERY rude, smoking and blowing smoke in our faces. They were swearing at us and finally we just told them to leave. I would never trust these people to move my things. I would never recommend this to friends. STAY AWAY. My wife and I were moving from Lake Stevens, WA to Summerville, South Carolina. Our home in Lake Stevens was a 4 BR home over 1800 sq. ft. We rented a 28 ft. container trailer and hired 3 men from Careful Movers. The 3 men were highly experienced movers that really knew how to securely pack our many belongings. Neither my wife or I believed that all our stuff would fit in the trailer. They packed everything we had from the trailer floor to the ceiling. They kept reassuring us that everything will fit and it did. I will be very surprised if anything moves in the trailer, because it was so well packed. The 3 men wrapped every piece of furniture in blankets and shrink wrap or bubble wrap. I would highly recommend these 3 men and the Careful Movers Company. read more

These people are RIPOFF ARTISTS! I hired them for a move, and they said they had a minimum numbers of hours for a Saturday move. The movers insisted that I pay up front. After working only half the time I'd paid for, they said they had to leave to go to another job! I told them that I had more things to move and reminded them that I had paid for more time. They refused to finish the job. I called the office and asked about getting someone else to come or getting a partial refund. The manager refused to do anything to fix the situation. I found someone else to help with the rest of the move the next day. By the time we got back to my former residence, my former landlord had already thrown away the rest of my possessions. I recently hired careful movers. I won't go into too much detail but do want to share my experience. They showed up right on time and started working. I did notice one of the guys seemed a little off but I don't care as long the job gets done. My daughter and I were down in the garage finishing done last minute packing while the guys were upstairs disasembling our beds and bringing things to the truck. I noticed for about an hour and a half not seeing one of the guys. I kept only seeing one of them going in and out taking loads. My daughter and I went upstairs to see where he was and low and behold he is hunched over my daughters bed (mid disasembling) SLEEPING!!!!!! My daughter saw it first told me and I saw myself. He woke up after hearing my daughters flip flops coming down the hall. I could not believe what I just saw! I didn't even know what to do or say. I wish now that I would have called him out right then. Lets not forget I hired 2 men and I got and sometimes 1 1/2. He dropped and broke a few things right infront of me including randomly bumping into walls. He never said sorry or whoops or anything for breaking my big pot. The other guy was not so great either, I heard a huge bang on my wood floor and asked if something dropped. He got frigidity and lied and said no then came back down and said did you know that your chair was cracked? This also happened with my expensive bedframe he claimed that there was already damage to it. I don't like liars and I'm very disappointed that neither of them would would just say sorry or anything other than trying to turn it back around on me. Own it! After everything was said and done I was charge for eight hours of moving which is ridiculous and there's no reason it should have taken this long. I got one to 1 1/2 men and paid for two this is ridiculous. Including my broken items that now are useless. I called and talked to Martin he was shocked and said that he would talk to the owner and call me back. I also mentioned to him about the damage items and he said he would call me back and we would figure out what to do about that I never got a phone call back from him I feel very upset disregarded I will be sure to let everyone know my experience and to not trust this company since The management won't even get back to you when there is a problem a serious problem. read more

They moved everything heavy from our four bedroom home across town within five and a half hours and charged a very reasonable rate. In the process, they delicately moved our piano and muscled their way through our hot tub. The best part about working with this company was finding out that they have a one hour minimum, rather than a two or three hour minimum for labor. Our apartment is TINY and we really only needed help because I'm pregnant and am on a rigid lift restriction. The gentleman I discussed our situation with on the phone was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't end up using their services as our move plans had changed making it unnecessary for us to need movers any longer but I had called SEVERAL places before this looking for a reasonable price for our needs and this place hit the jackpot. read more

I called Careful Movers to have a large piece of furniture moved to my home. At first it appeared to be a good opportunity with an affordable price but after being rescheduled 2 or 3 times I wanted to voice my concerns of not being treated professionally to the original person I spoke with whom was also the owner Dan Busby. Deal or no deal I was a paying customer and I wasn't appreciative with the way I was being treated. (Actually, I come to find out it wasn't even such a good deal!) This is where I have to say was the worst case of customer service I have ever experienced. He proceeded to insult, emotionally abuse and yell at me. Telling me how I was wasting his time talking to him and how he didn't really need my piddly little job because he was so "famous". He also commented how he would rather be eating his chili from Arby's then talk to me. I help my tongue during this whole exchange just trying to recover from the shock. At the end of the conversation I had to just laugh because I realized I was dealing with a crazy man and I didn't want a crazy man touching anything of mine let alone in my home. I don't recommend Careful Movers to anyone and I will strongly urge everyone looking for a moving company to look else where. read more

I have to say I called at least three other companies besides Careful Movers, to get a moving estimate fora local move; of the 3 companies that actually responded, I decided to go with Careful Movers after dealing with Eric. Every time I called into the office, they were so courteous and prompt with my last minute changes due to our house not closing on time. When we got that part figured out, Ray and Rob showed up at our house at the time they said they would. I was so impressed not only by their sense of humor and attitude, but how carefully they handled every single item on the truck, from initial loading up to unload. I watched 2 pros working the load with such ease and enthusiasm. I would whole heartedly recommend this company to anyone looking for a great moving company.
