Like my visits to many diners, I was here on my patty melt quest. -- Patty Melt: First, the composition is faithful to the prototype, with a quarter pound patty (no smashburger nonsense), rye bread (no sourdough decoy), buttered (not merely toasted), and with the classic Swiss cheese, sautéed onions and thousand Island dressing. No fusion, no reinvention, no omissions, no hipster jive. Good crispness and butteriness on the bread, great melt on the cheese, and noticeable softness to the onions. Most importantly, the beef could be ordered medium rare, and they executed. More softness, with gushing juices and a really pleasing bite. I suspect nothing special to start with, but they cooked it to near perfection. Only quibble would be not much crust to the patty, but not as critical on a patty melt. -- Fries: I could have had tots or a few other options, but fries were fine. Almost certainly frozen, but the skin-on variety and not the dreaded coated kind. Nothing special, but good enough. Service was adequate. It seemed like everyone was prepping to get everything gathered and cleaned for closing about 90 minutes earlier than necessary, but that didn't detract. If anything, it shows initiative and hustle. Not breakfasty, but it was mid-afternoon. Fries came VERY quickly. Coffee continued to be refilled. Fries were plain, not seasoned, which is my personal preference. Bee had warned me while ordering, since I asked about seasoning, that they'd be dipped in some kind of batter. That's NOT my preference, but I had at least ordered them knowingly. Overall, for this day, I give the place high marks on service (thanks, Bee) and quite decent but not at all superlative marks on food.

What I really like was the plating, such that none of the food items ran together, that is, the beans were in a small dish separate from the eggs and English and the steak was on a separate small plate, making it easier to cut (without bumping up against other foods). When our son was a young child, we referred to this as "no-touch-atarian" as he really disliked his foods touching one another. Now, some 30+ years later, I have to agree that some food items are just best as stand-alone items. I would have given a full 5 star rating except that I tend to be slightly more critical with my assessments as they relate to accessibility. The parking lot could use a repainting as the lines and handicapped parking symbols were barely visible. They have a ramp to the entrance but, without automatic doors, it can cause difficulties at the top as there is no level area at the top to allow one to stop and prevent the chair from rolling backwards to allow one to open the door. I have a care giver that gets me in and out, so it is not a huge barrier for me personally but I can see it being difficult for more independent wheelchair users. Access to the restroom is a bit awkward but not impossible And the staff helped with that as well.

a terrible restaurant I would advise anyone not to support this thief and his business was one of my friend's landlords and stole 9,000 check for rental assistance from my pregnant friend who has been trying to get the money back he stole he is a terrible person.. who steals 9k from a pregnant woman and has the state calling for you to return the money but doesn't. also went with my co-workers we got sat in a different part of the restaurant because we are NOT ethnic and were given a different menu. The 54 Mercury is a personal favorite, and its nice to see a diner where the staff can actually poach an egg correctly. Omelette was $15 bucks 1 French toast was $11.50, toppings extra, of course. Our breakfast meal was $29 and definitely not worth the price. Other menu items included $8 for 2 pancakes. Take cash, they charge a 4% credit card fee. We went a few years ago and had a nice priced meal, I doubt if we'll go back, too many other better priced diners to eat from with better quality for the price.

This also comes with 2 eggs and choice of breakfast meats. Ya know I had to get the bacon extra crispy, of course. In keeping of plebeian fashion, I opted for the scrambled eggs this time.
