Obviously new management since bad reviews of a few years ago (writing 2/25! My friend and I got to Cariblue between lunch and dinner time and the one person there when we got there was so friendly -- and so enthuiastic about his food! We had a Jerk Chicken combo -- you can evidently combine anything and there are lots of meats -- including goat!-- as well as shrimp, fish, tofu and polenta . Good selection of bottled drinks -- we had Jarritos Tamarindo. Nothing we had was hotly spiced -- the proprietor asked if I liked spicy (reading my mind??) and added a little cup of green sauce, not fiery but agreeably hot to my palate. Our plates arrived quickly, with big servings of the most delicious oxtail I've ever eaten, tender to falling off the bone and dead lean but moist because all the good gooey part is there (oxtail lovers will understand, anyone else, just try it). The jerk chicken was braised, not broiled, but my big breast piece was juicy and flavorful. The rice and red beans was the true Caribbean kind, small beans and soft rice cooked with coconut milk. I saved the sweet sauteed plantains for last, sooo good. My friend hadn't had Caribbean food and cautiously added a dish (which turned out to be quite large) of macaroni & cheese. I forgot to ask for a taste but it looked wonderful and the whole bowl disappeared. As did everything on our heavily loaded plates. I'm already planning my next meal -- goat curry plate and extra plantains. I can't imagine that anyone would have room for dessert but there were some I'd love to try. Caribbean upside down cake, for instance. If you're not sure you'll like Caribbean food there's that Mac&Cheese... We met Abel, the owner and he did a great job telling us about the menu / including g letting us sample the oxtail. Had the combo oxtail and jerk pork. Came with rice and plantains. Food was Great! The jerk seasoning with the pork chunks was perfectly spicy. The oxtail was reminiscent of a nice pot roast and very rich. The rice was even seasoned with coconut milk.
