Just ok experience here. The location is shared with a bagel chain and it's rather confusing when you first walk in. There were so many customers clumped waiting for bagels that they were blocking the sign that says "bagels to the left, coffee to the right". I ordered an iced campfire mocha and a slice of lemon poppyseed loaf. About $9.50 for both. The gentleman that rang me up was so friendly and kind. The waiting "area" is very small and pretty much blocks the hall to the restrooms. Not great in my opinion. The lady calling out orders was very hard to hear over the restaurant noise, another customer asked me if I heard what drinks were up. Anyway, my iced coffee was bad. Period. Just not any flavor of mocha or marshmallow. Bland and a dud. Lemon loaf was just meh. I probably wouldn't visit here again. Lots of parking and it's needed. The bagel side was mobbed. This was my first time trying this coffee shop, and unfortunately, the experience wasn't great. I ordered an Iced Caramel High Rise, but it was made hot. When I politely asked the employee to remake it iced, as it's listed on the menu, her response was less than professional. She gave me a strange look, whispered something to her co-worker, and then remade the drink. However, when she handed it to me, she aggressively slid it across the counter in a way that was very unnecessary. I wasn't rude or difficult, and I completely understand that mistakes happen--it's not a big deal. What bothered me was her attitude, which made me feel as though I had done something wrong for simply asking for the correct order. The employee that took the order was polite, it was the one who made the drink. The employee was light-skinned, heavier set, with her hair in a curly ponytail. I get that everyone has off days, but bringing that energy into a customer service role isn't acceptable. A little kindness and professionalism go a long way. read more

Just needed some coffee and we thought we would stop here. The location is shared with a bagel shop so it's incredibly confusing and crowded when you walk it. The line was about 40 people deep and after about 10 minutes we finally were able to get to the coffee side or the line. The line for the coffee was not nearly as long as the food side but you can't know that. Once you order, everyone just crowds the pick up area so it's just congested throughout. There is a good amount of seating if you want to eat your food and drink coffee inside. They have free Wi-Fi if you want to work while you're here. It's not super loud either surprisingly so you could work here for sure. We ordered a medium latte and a black coffee and it was $10. The drinks were just ok nothing really special about either. My boo sometimes gets tired of walking, especially in those sexy heels. So of course, I carry boo. This is a cute little coffee shop with typically good coffee that is significantly better than Starbucks and surprisingly has really nice service. We were in here to split a bagel after meeting up with my old friend who is obsessed with the bagels here, but the coffee shop which is a separate chain is way nicer. They have delicious products that make Starbucks look bad and remind me more of Tim Hortons. They have lovely little cuddly toy Caribous in many of the locations and I was delighted to find one down here in Charlotte. If they weren't so corporate they would get the extra star. read more

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, and that's why I like Caribou. When I'm inevitably forced to go to a coffee shop because my significant other is a fein for caffeine, I actually have a lot of options here. I haven't been to caribou a ton before mostly due to geographical reasons. But if there was one closer to me I'm sure I would probably become a regular. I went with the iced apple blast. It had apple cider and cinnamon over ice with a caramel flavoring. I really wish I had went with the blended version but, hey, now I already have my order ready next time I visit. The cashier was polite, very friendly and made us feel welcome even though I had to stare at the menu for a few minutes as I normally do not go to these places. I recently had heart surgery and was told I had to get more exercise. I'm a classic, 73 years old, ware hearing aids and have macular degeneration. I have to use a white cane with a red tip. Perhaps you've seen me stumbling around Charlotte. Anyway, I started walking to Caribou Coffee. It's about a 3 mile trek one way. A perfect walk for a perfect cup of French vanilla Cappuccino! The baristas are great kids! It seems I've been there enough times now, they know my drink of choice without me asking. I LOVE that. I feel like "Norm" on Cheers. I haven't tried any food items as yet, but perhaps one day. The place is spotlessly clean and of course, my being a classic, I HAVE to visit the little boy's room before my journey home. Honestly, I love this place. It's to a point where I don't want to make coffee at home anymore because this has been the best coffee I've tasted. I ended up only stopping in because I wanted a bagel, however we saw the coffee shop and we decided to grab a coffee while I waited for the bagel. It's always hard to figure out what to order at a new coffee shop since especially since I'm dairy free. They had a "drink of the week" and I asked the gentleman at the counter how it was and gave me his opinion as well as other suggestions. The coffee was mad quickly and when it tasted it was so impressed. The coffee was fresh and hot, yet it wasn't too sweet, but had an amazing favor. They have an area to sit with that's shared with the bagel shop, with chairs, tables and benches. It could use a little upgrade, but this place is a hidden gem so it doesn't matter. I enjoyed it so much, I went back the following week just to grab coffee and it tasted just as good. It was made exactly the same, with the same favor and not too sweet. Sometimes at other coffee shops, I can never get my coffee or tea tasting the same depending who makes it. But not here. This has been my go-to coffee shop, even if it's 15 minutes away. I hadn't been into a Caribou Coffee in years. It seems they are a dying breed. I see this location every time I visit the Park Road shopping center. I had tickets, on this particular day, to see a movie across the parking lot at the AMC Park Terrace with friends. After browsing the stores of the shopping center, we still had a little over an hour to spare. Backpack in tow, I thought Caribou might be a good place to get a little work done and my friends could down another cup of coffee while we passed the extra time. In we went... This is a shared location with Bruegger's Bagels. I can't say much for them, as I didn't patron that side of the business. However, the lobby area is shared, and I feel the cleanliness, or lack thereof, could be credited to both businesses. Granted it was a Saturday, but the place was near empty. Another table of ladies enjoying coffee was about it. The rest was a ghost town, yet nearly every table was a mess of crumbs, and lingering trash. Eventually we found a table large enough to accommodate our needs. There are larger tables tucked in the back if you continue walking toward the restrooms, past the checkout and coffee condiment station. It was clear these tables aren't well known, as they are quite separated from the rest and were the only ones not showing any signs of use. I approached the counter, where the attendant greeted me with a pleasant smile. My order was paid for and ready in no time. The coffee was a bit too sweet for my liking though. The restroom was in just as much need of attention as the dining area. At no point, during the hour we were there, did any employee from either business come from behind their respective counters to wipe the tables, stock or clean the condiment station, walk the restrooms, nor check on patrons to ask how they were doing. Don't get me wrong. I'm not expecting Ritz Carlton service in a Caribou Coffee, but nothing about this place left me with any desire to return. The service is always great and the location is very warm, with several tables to work, gather with friends and relax. In addition, this location is shared jointly with Bruegger's Bagels, a definite plus. Caribou has great breakfast/snack items, but having the bagel option right next to you is great, since Caribou doesn't serve bagels. One thing that I has always disappointed me. This is my first time here. The first thing I noticed was the barefoot woman (a step up from us) in the dining area standing against the railing. She was working on her laptop. I proceeded to order from both Caribou and Breuggers bagels. Everything was delicious especially the cinnamon tea. Yum! I still had a nagging feeling. Must be from two decades in the restaurant business. I was at the counter at Brueggers and quietly asked if the dining area was a common area or separate to each restaurant. She asked what was up. I let her know about the health code violation at the front door. She said that was gross. I proceeded to Caribou and got the same response. We enjoyed our meals and started to leave. ( I had a three year old in tow.) The woman had earplugs in so I leaned closer until she looked up and removed one earbud. I said, are you aware that it's a health code violation to remove your shoes, (flip-flops) in a restaurant? The first thing out of her mouth was, Do you work here? What's your title? I smiled and told her I'm the assistant manager, It's my day off.....and smiled again. I AM NOT the assistant manager. I hope that some staff member finally steps up and asks her to leave. You have to set the bar. You have to train your staff well. Customers should come first. She was ONLY there for the free WiFi so I guess they lose any money there. I wish I had photos. I was devastated to learn my local Caribou Coffee was closing down, as the franchise was bought out by a group of suits and is being closed to make room for something else. Caribou personally holds a lot of great memories for me with my friends and girlfriend. That's why, after mine closed, I had to trek down one of the three remaining stores in the Charlotte/Lake Norman area... Almost 30 miles away. If you don't care about all that and want to know what makes it great, their coffees are excellent (I quite enjoy their blended frozen coffees) and the employees are so friendly. This one isn't as cozy and relaxed as mine in Mooresville was, but there are plenty of open spaces to work/lounge and free Wi-Fi. Plus it's got a feel to it that makes it, just... Special. I can't stand Starbucks honestly, so Caribou is one of those rare gems that stands out among the dozens of soulless green-and-white logo coffee shops all over the place. Caribou has not only great coffee, it's got personality. It's a shame those are usually the first to go in this dog-eat-dog capitalist society. Here's to you, Caribou Coffee. I'm glad this Caribou location has not met its end just yet. I know a bunch in the area closed down not to long ago, but this one is still going strong. Could be because of the joint venture/shared space with Brugger's bagels. There's a large common dining space with tables/chairs/ booths... a good use of space since you got Caribou on the right side and bagel place on the left. The space still has the injection of Caribou quirk in it.. warm woods... unique decor... I have yet to see a cute stuffed animal head mounted on the wall here, but they could just be me missing it somewhere. Staff are super friendly and they keep "their side" nice and tidy... well really the whole space is pretty clean. I haven't stuck around too long, but I assume they offer wifi since I see a ton of people with laptops doing the "coffeehouse thing." Plenty of parking in Park Rd shopping center.... just be careful since it can get pretty busy with people running their errands and going to and from. read more

Why oh why are there so few Caribou coffee places left- when obviously they truly are the best coffee places around! Having found one here while visiting Charlotte- not only does it have great seating but its attached to Brueggers bagels! Heaven and earth combo. On this beautiful day it would be great to have more seating outside- but we managed to snag the comfy leather chairs. I have Been spending a lot more time at Starbucks because of losing my beloved Caribou- so today I got the chance to compare Caribou white chocolate pumpkin to Starbucks pumpkin latte! And they got really snarky when I asked which one tastes like the original. So I tried the milk chocolate and it just doesn't taste the same at all. The dark chocolate is the closest and really doesn't taste like dark chocolate which is good for me and my coffee preferences. But isn't it false advertising if it doesn't taste "dark"? Especially for a non-dairy person, why'd you have to go and mess with the program just before Christmas? My final complaint is they close at 5pm on Sundays which is really annoying. Disappointed they don't offer any gluten free options, as there are plenty of people who would like it. However my first experience here was very pleasant. The store is split between a coffee shop and Bruegger bagels. It's very open and there is plenty of seating! I was torn between the two sides and only selected the coffee area because the line was shorter (I was in a hurry). Stopped in here for some drinks and it was my first time. They have a pretty large space, plenty of room to study, have meetings, and just hang out. It's causal and clean and any coffee nut should give it a try! Our drinks were delicious, the only problem I had was that the prices were a bit high. The music here is so spastic and random, I actually heard Nancy Sinatra go into Jack Johnson, wow! I do like the quiet atmosphere, it is a great place to come after a long day and just surf the internet or read a novel. The great thing about this particular location is that it is shared by a Bruegger's Bagels, so it is a nice place to get started for the day as well. People have business meetings here, I saw a few college-types busting out the books, and a few caffeine freaks as well. The dimly lit room's peaceful setting erupted however when I heard two men having a business transaction near my booth. A Caucasian gentlemen complimented his Asian business partner on his handshake. I've been to this Caribou Coffee a fair few times. In fact, I'm writing in it right now (I really hate being "that guy on the laptop"...). The place is very clean an well maintained with very friendly and efficient staff, who clearly love doing what they do. There's a charm to the place which is reminiscent of independent coffee shops, but falls a little bit short of achieving it. There's a daily trivia question above the counter which if you answer correctly, you get a dime off your order, and the staff address you as an actual person as opposed to a customer; but there's something about the place which makes it feel like an experience manicured to feel like an independent coffee shop. Nevertheless, there's a good selection of coffee available for purchase, along with seasonal specials. Around Christmas time I tried the eggnog latte (or the 'Fa-la-latte' as they called it, and as I called it forgoing a shred of my masculinity in the process). I usually have a milk chocolate mocha, which strikes a nice balance between the sweetness of the chocolate and the bitterness of the coffee, not veering too much towards either side. They also include a chocolate covered coffee bean with it, which is a nice touch. There's a nice, if somewhat limited selection of foods, but this is understandable since there's a Bruegger's bagels literally opposite the counter. The sweets that Caribou do are great, not too rich, but a nice treat to go alongside your drink. One of my few qualms about the place would probably be the prices. A small mocha is just shy of $4, which is pretty pricey for what you get (the coffee is nice, but not THAT nice). Overall, a nice place to kill an hour or two with a friend of partner. I was very impressed by the service and content of this coffee place. There was such a welcoming atmosphere that heightened the overall experience of ordering my coffee. I asked the barista for their own personal recommendations, and they suggested the turtle mocha. It was DELICIOUS. Maybe one of the best coffees I have ever had.
