This place holds a special spot for me -- it was one of the first coffee shops I ever tried when I was looking to move to KC. It has stayed in my heart ever since! I love the atmosphere and that cozy "cabin" feel. The staff is always friendly and the place is quiet -- perfect for working or just slowing down. I did the drive-thru this time while running errands and had the Campfire Mocha with a Chocolate Croissant. The Campfire Mocha was a great summer flavor and I had a reward offer so that was a bonus! The croissant was good but between the mocha being already so rich and chocolatey, it was a bit much together. Next time I'll stick to just the coffee -- but my kids had no complaints finishing it! I've been here several times (in the drive-through) and have always had a good experience. their staff is professional, courteous, and fast. I typically get their black dark roast coffee and it has never disappointed me. I usually get a cold press here, it's about the only low calorie option available that I enjoy here. I chose this coffee house because it has a drive through and that's important because I'm not dragging kids into a coffee shop for my morning coffee. That's way too much work in the morning and kind of defeats the purpose of me attempting to make my morning routine as easy as possible. The drive through usually goes pretty quickly and usually there is not a line. Downside , I feel like the quality of coffee does not compare to Starbucks. I much prefer Starbucks and have even decided to drive 15 minutes on days when I really need a coffee, to go to Starbucks. The extra drive is worth quality to me. It's important to note Caribou is very similar in price to Starbucks. I really wanted to like Caribou because it's a convenient location for me. *pictured: I decided to give the new Caribou Cinnamon roll a try.....this cinnamon roll had lots of icing, the bread was hard in 3/4 of the pastry and it wasn't warmed. Overall this seemed pretty sloppy in appearance and after taking one bite, I ended up throwing it away. I will admit I was not a fan of this place its first few years. I honestly do not know if my taste buds changed or they changed their equipment. However, now I love their coffee! Sign up for their points system as it is a great way to get free coffee quickly! I dropped a star only because they have slow wifi. I have been the only customer there and the wifi was still slow. But it that was the only setback. The place is so pretty inside and comfortable. Before the pandemic, my knitting group would hold its meetups here because it was great for groups! The good: The drinks are awesome. Lots of variety. The bad: The service is really slow. I usually only go here on my days off when I have a lot of time to wait. I've tried going before work on numerous occasions and find that if there is even one car in line ahead of me, ill be late to work. Not sure what the issue is here. Generally, they look staffed. Do not use the mobile app! Wife ordered her coffee and a Caribou cake through the mobile app thinking she wouldn't be able to order if they were out of the product. I got to the store, they had the coffee ready but did not have any of the cake left. Said they had been out for a while. I was told they could write me a note, but could not refund the money. Not sure how a company can take an order, take your money and not provide you with a refund if they are out of the product they sold you. I would have to agree with most of the posts that the best thing about this location is well.. the location! There is a billowing fireplace, open floor plan for lots of seating and it's never too busy that you feel over crowded. You can easily pull up a chair, read a book while enjoying your coffee and hang out with some peace and quiet. The one thing I do not love about this location is it's always very cold in the room. There is an open draft between the two doors and the tall ceilings and air ducts just always keep you chilly; perhaps a good incentive to get more hot coffee!? read more

Yummy high calorie caffeinated goodness. Their lg iced bevies have 4 shots of espresso goodness. I had the the Mint Mocha...over ice (after all it was over 100 degrees outside). Dark Chocolate, Mint, and whip cream. Bliss on this hot day. This store has a fabulous drive thru, and good seating inside with tables, comfy chairs, and FREE WiFi. The staff at this Caribou Coffee location are always fast and super friendly. I usually stop by before work around 8:30am, and am out before 5 minutes are up. I've been here multiple times now, and they have always gotten my drink right. I normally get the campfire mocha, alternating between the different offerings of dark, white, and milk chocolate, and although I really like it, I can usually never finish it because it's really sweet. However, today the person taking my order recommended getting an extra shot of espresso with it. The extra shot of espresso really toned down the sweetness of the drink, making it absolutely perfect. I am giving two stars because the customer service has gone so far downhill that I promised myself to never spend another dollar at this place. I go to Kansas City several times per year and I am a coffee snob. I ALWAYS drive out of my way to go to this Caribou location because it has a drive-thru. I have spent numerous dollars here on lattes and tipping. Well, my last visit to KC for the holidays put the icing on the cake. I went two days in a row and the customer service was horrible each time. They didn't greet me or thank me when I drove off. Very unfriendly staff. I remember the days when this place had excellent customer service. So, since I was in KC for 9 days, and since Latte Land has better coffee, I spent my money there for the remaining days. It doesn't have a drive thru, but I braved the weather because Caribou will never get another penny from me. It sucks because the turtle mocha at Caribou is one of a kind and tasty. I realize it's hard to find employees these days but the girl on the headset for drive thru this morning was the most rude person I've ever encountered. I wanted a medium Cold press with 1/2 and 1/2 and sugar free vanilla (limiting sugar). When she read the order back, she said medium cold press with cream and 1/2 sugar free vanilla. I thought she may have mixed my order up because I wanted 1/2 and 1/2 and thought maybe she put 1/2 sugar free vanilla instead. So I asked her for clarification and in an extremely rude tone- cream is 1/2 and 1/2. Then take into consideration if someone in front of you also orders a sandwich. If you want fast go to McDonalds for cheap junk. The staff at Caribou is always super friendly and no matter what drink you get there it is always made well and in my opinion their coffee far exceeds the other "Mainstream coffee place." There is tons of space and tables for if you need to go in and get some work done and the music is always pretty good also. This Caribou coffee location is one of my regular hang out spots: it is that good. Every once in a while, when I happen to be puttering around north of the River, I'll think, "wow, I haven't been to Caribou in a while." Then, afterwards, I think "wow, why did I go here again?" Don't get me wrong -- the atmosphere is pleasant, the coffee is pleasant, and the staff are pleasant. But -- there's just no real spark or peg to make me want to keep coming back. I actually ventured inside to check out the place rather than use the drive-through. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and inviting it was. Suitable places to sit were sparse, for me, because I need a table near a plug-in source to use my laptop. The girl at the register was new but friendly. For the first time ever, I was unable to finish my Chai latte with almond milk. *Shudders* THAT is an incredibly tough feat to accomplish. There was something off about my drink (slightly acidic maybe?). I probably should've given them a chance to make it right, but alas I did not want to make the effort. I have also eaten here on several occasions. Most recently, I ordered their spinach and artichoke wrap. Underwhelming and not worth the price. We had eaten at a restaurant down the way from here and after dinner took a stroll and decided to stop in and get some coffee. I had an Lite Iced Coffee (caramel) and my husband had a Latte. The staff was great, the prices were high and when I got mine it tasted "funny" almost like it was sour or like it was cough drop flavored. I decided to say something and the gentleman working was awesome and made me a new one and said it was most likely the sugar free syrup. The second one was much better but still had that "funny" taste. He said that is what it always tastes like. I love Caribou and especially this location! I've come here many times because it's close to home and usually pretty quiet. I study here for school. This week, I have been here 3 different days. I always buy coffee, just not when I first get there. Today, I was there for 3.5 hours and I didn't buy my coffee until the last hour. Kimberly (I believe the manager), rudely came up and said "Hey do you want to come inside and buy some food or drinks?" while I was outside on the patio. I replied "No, not right now. Thank you, though" and she returned inside without a reply or smile. I find this very rude and almost left without purchasing anything. I come here so frequently that I don't think sitting on the patio with a school book for a few hours is disrespectful or damaging to their business. Pretty good, so A-OK in my book. I don't frequent this area very often, but on a return trip from the airport, I realized my cup of Joe runneth out. Frantically, I began the search for an exit sign with a coffee house on it. There it was, Caribou. There's a lot of development going on in the area, and once off the exit, I didn't have any more signs directing me. I navigated the interweaving of Tuileries Plaza though until I found them. Although my review is just for the outside and a straight up cup of coffee, I thought the store had a good look to it, and the drive thru ran at a pretty good clip. The drive thru staff was courteous and pleasant, and best of all, my caffeine supply had been replenished. I thought the coffee tasted freshly brewed, and had some good notes to it.
