Coffee/Food/Service/Ambiance- 5/5 The location can throw you off because it's inside the Green Hills Library, but it's great. Parking is not an issue. There's lots of seating for you to work or just meet up with others! The gal provided such great customer service with great vibes. All the pastries looked amazing and sounded so good! The cortado was just what I needed - not bitter nor too sweet. Would def be returning.

Novella is such a staple Northland coffee shop! Their coffee is consistantly great and their staff is friendly. I always order a plain iced latte and my friend loves their seasonal drinks- such a fun flavor menu. The ambience is what I come here for! Never too crowded, plenty of seating, and I love the open windows and all of the light that comes through. It's a perfect spot to work from, catch up with friends, or just to quietly read a book. I love Novella!

I love coffer shops in KC. Each one has its unique flair- and this one is in a library! I love that the menu is simple. It was super easy to order and everything looked amazing. I am sad I didn't get a picture of their beautiful pastries or the super fun summer menu. The barista was sweet and efficient. I'm surprised she didn't have help because the place was packed! It's a bright space decorated with coffee mugs hanging from the ceiling. There was shaded outdoor seating and lots of seating inside.

German-speaking coffee group at Novella at Greenhills Library

I meet there with my German-speaking friends every week, except on holidays when the library is closed. The service is exceptional and always with a smile.

I'd be mad as hell at my boss, if I was this barista.

I attended the Fall 2024 Kansas City Caffeine Crawl today and Novella was our second stop of four different coffee shops. For $40 customers pay for the shops to provide a 30 minute presentation that revolves around discussing something related to the coffee industry and provide samples for comparisons and enjoyment. The three other shops today hit a homerun with their job assignment; Novella crashed and burned - a complete waste of time, money and a tarnishing the image of The Caffeine Crawl. They had one person working when the crowd of 17 crawlers arrived at the pre-arranged time. The barista looked like a deer in the headlights, apparently the owners did not give him a heads-up nor offer support. He kept the register open and served walk-in customer while on the phone trying to figure out his conundrum. With about 5 minutes left before our scheduled time to leave, he placed a closed sign on his register and served about 3 oz's of drip coffee to 3/4 of the customers. I felt sorry for the barista for being completely thrown under the bus by his owners that paid for and knew that this event was occuring. Completely unacceptable. Never again - Novella.

The staff is so kind. I've been to this location 3x since it opened and am now on a first name basis with a few of them. They are attentive, the space is clean and new and inspiring, and it's great to work or hang with friends! Such a lovely addition to the north land.

Grabbed coffee at Novella in the new library. The place is adorable and the people who work there are kind. They don't have their full menu at this location yet, but have all the basics for a coffee lover. In addition to coffee, they also offer pastries. They open before the library, which is perfect for me to grab my morning coffee on the weekends. I've tried two different lattes and the vanilla one is fantastic! My husband has gotten the drip coffee and it is good as well. Go check them out!

A hidden gem to come work, study, or read! Staff was friendly and prompt. The coffee is very reasonably priced and high quality. I also had a fruity pastry that was excellent. All of the tables near the windows have outlets and plenty of space to spread out. Will definitely be coming back.

Loved this little coffee shop in the library. It's the perfect spot to read a book or work. The coffee was delicious and had little pastries. We got the croissant with sprinkles and had a little icing on the inside. We will be going back for sure!

Well lit, finally fancy coffee in the Northland! Blueberry muffin was average, yet overall liked how kind the barista was.

They have added Messenger Coffee drinks and expanded their pastry and small bite savory items with a seperate menu. It was a bit confusing for my first time visit, which door do I enter? Do I order at the kiosk? Do I wait to be seated? Some signs would surely help. After wandering around in both dining rooms and looking at a menu at the kiosk, I was finally approached and was seated in the cafe. The room has a relaxed feel with cozy chairs and tables, a few plants and books and some comforting classical music playing. I was immediately brought a water glass by my stylishly dressed waiter. I started asking a few questions about the menu, when he asked me to follow him to the other room where I could see the variety of baked goods in the glass warming case. I made my selection and was soon brought my ham and cheese Medialuna (small croissant), a Fat Biscuit (baked rolled dough) and my cappuccino. Pricing is a bit high but the service and atmosphere was above average and the vibe was relaxing after I understood the ordering system, and the menu was unique. A great little coffee / brunch option for the Tiffany Springs / Zona Rosa / MCI area.

Then as we were putting our coats on and cleaning up our table to leave, he turned the lights off on us and left us in the dark, even though there were still employees there behind the counter working. When we said, 'We're putting our coats on, you don't have to turn the lights off on us, that's really uncalled for,' he responded curtly with, 'I already told you to leave,' followed by a cold look. He treated us in about the most unfriendly, unprofessional, harsh way you could treat polite customers who frequent here. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about letting customers know the establishment is closed and they would like you to leave. Especially after we spent $18 on 3 drinks (one was a small toddler drink). This was the very wrong, rude, unprofessional way to go about it. He was very cold and short in the manner he spoke to us and treated us, even in looks he was giving us. It was like he was taking his bad day out on us or something. If you're going to work in customer service, especially at a manager level, this is completely unacceptable, inappropriate, unprofessional behavior and a very rude way to treat loyal customers. We will never come back here because of his behavior, and we'll find another place to meet and have coffee with our friends. There are plenty of coffee shops where managers don't treat their customers this poorly.

I was a barista for 13 years, I have a lot of experience with coffee and even when making an espresso drink- you do not hand out hot coffee in an iced cup. I just asked for a cup of ice to pour it over, done being here. Tastes like trash, no flavor at all. Even my 11 year old son said "that looks nothing like what you order mom" I coulda bought a glass Starbucks drink in the gas station and poured it over ice and it would taste better then what I just got served. I was recommended to this place and I am highly dissatisfied.
