Full details: I came to Colette's salon and saw Korie for a full highlight and cut. I waited over 15 mins for my stylist to ARRIVE (she wasn't finishing up with another costumer, she was late). She was also awkward to talk to during the long appointment. When I asked for highlights to achieve an ombré look, she decided to use the balayage technique. Although the technique is the preferred way to achieve a more natural ombré look, she was not skilled in the technique and the results were horrific. After I left the salon I saw how splotchy my hair was with large spots of blonde high on my head and many hot spots scattered through my hair. I immediately returned to the salon. (How they could let me leave with such a terrible color service in the first place baffles me). Although the staff recognized me from earlier in the day, no one came up to greet me and continued to talk amongst themselves. I had to ask to speak to a manager. Colette, the owner was there to speak to. I informed her that I was not happy with my service and I needed it corrected. She looked over my hair over and agreed it was not right, and offered to have it fixed. We went to her office to reschedule. The owner was very rude to me. I requested a more senior stylist to fix it, as I understandably did not trust my stylist to correct something she couldn't do properly from the start. She refused and gave me a difficult time rescheduling. I informed her I needed it corrected within a week as I was attending a wedding. The owner told me, "well it's not that bad" with extreme attitude. It was wildly unprofessional. What owner wants work coming out of their salon that's "not that bad"?!!! I had to see my original stylist Korie to have my hair corrected. As I walked into the salon, the owner Colette walked out past me- knowing I was coming in for my correction. Since she was still there when I arrived and having made the appointment herself, I felt she should have greeted me to apologize and also consult on the corrective service to make sure I would be taken care of. No one assisted my stylist on how to correct what she had done wrong. Unfortunately the corrective service only swapped one problem for another. I left with uneven foiled highlights to try and cover the splotches. I will never return and I strongly recommend you seek out an alternative salon in Chicago for your color services. You can find much more qualified & friendlier salons, all while still being more affordable.

I just was not set up for Venmo so... Glenn is a color genius. If highlights are your thing, he has trained many stylists on color and highlights. Plus he is a lovely person and very dedicated to you when he has begun your work. Glenn was a fantastic cutter! I have thick heavy hair. After 4 months without cutting, it was like a dense helmet. His goal was to allow me to have light, swingy hair. I did not know why that was a "thing" but he explained the importance of movement--something that does not occur when the hair is too heavy and thick. Glenn was relentless until my hair was swingy and free to shake into a beautiful shape. Friends, I've been to all the Oak Street/Walton Street Salons for over 20 years. If you want undivided attention in your visit, visit Glenn at Colette. He is unflappable, professional, charming, and down to earth. Here's a guy you'll want to spend a few hours with.
