Brought in my Cadillac XT6 for repair. Parts have to be ordered. A return visit is in the works. So far, I've been treated well and honestly. I will update this review when my XT6 has been fully repaired. ***UPDATE*** I received a call that the part they ordered for me had arrived at the dealership. They had an appointment made for me a day later. It took 3 hours to complete the job. Everything worked as I expected it to. It was a pretty simple process. I have no complaints, the service department kept me in the loop as needed. I see all of the negative reviews here, but Carlin Chevrolet took great care of me. I'd return for service again if needed. I drove 50 miles from Kentucky because they honored my independent service warranty contract. That was a win-win for me. read more

Pulled a bait and switch on extended warranty. The F&I manager is not honest and has poor customer relations skills. There is an absentee owner. There is zero accountability in the sales and administration of this dealership. Will monitor the actions of service department in order not to include them in this rating. read more

very disappointed in their service department, our vehicle was under warranty, but they tried to tell us it wasn't they wanted to charge us $750 to repair our vehicle. Ended up calling a different dealership they confirmed it was under warranty and we had to take it to them. I do not recommend Carlen Chevrolet at all. They are very dishonest. read more

I went to Carlen for a repair that should've been covered by warranty. It was not but they fixed it anyway, without my authorization and charged me $342.77 to replace a bad radiator hose clamp ($1.49)! I will try to never go there again and will warn everyone I can about their deceptive business practices. The quality of the work was OK but WAY overpriced. read more

Haven't used the dealership for service but I called about the ripped US flag that they have on displayed. I've requested that the properly bring down and dispose of the flag. I'm a veteran and it hurts to see it waving in the wind all ripped up. Fix the issue!!! read more

When we relocated to Cookeville, we did not have vehicles. Stopped at Carlen, and actually the salesperson found a great vehicle for us. Purchasing with a check, from Alaska, they worked through the financials and I was able to leave with the vehicle. Having only a rental car, they were fantastic, driving my new vehicle to the residence. Returned several months later, for a second vehicle and they found me another great vehicle, and able to leave the lot the same day. Positives are lifetime oil changes, a great service department, and a professional courteous staff (everyone from the mechanics, service, sales, office and financials). Downside would be, the care they took I may not need another vehicle for quite awhile. read more

My son had an alternator fail while driving from Missouri to Sevierville, TN. He stopped at the closest Chevrolet dealer when the light came on. Thank goodness it was Carlen Chevrolet. They found the truck on their lot Monday morning and called me within 30 minutes with a plan for evaluation. It was fixed by the end of the day and I paid over the phone with a credit card. When we were able to pick it up they had it locked on the lot with all the paperwork so we could get it after hours. The cost was very competitive. Today I came in for an unscheduled appointment. The dash lights came on in the morning on the way to work indicating low tire pressure. At my convenience I drove up to the service department and asked if they had time to check that. They filled all the tires and in 5 minutes and I was on my way. Service department was so kind and the owner came out as well to follow up on my service. It is no wonder that this family owned business has been around more than any other dealership in the area. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with this dealer. I don't recommend anyone ever take their car there to be worked on. They may be good to buy a car but then if you have to take to them to service forget it not worth it. The Service department really needs a little education on treating customers but as I was told by the service man " Mike " they don't have a crystal ball in their pocket so they can't help you. Even had a hard time just trying to pay and pick up me car. The nicest person to me was the lady who checked me out and I didn't catch her name. read more

A great place to buy a vehicle if you like being lied to. I was told the truck I bought was a one owner and was purchased there new and had a clean Carfax. After I went to trade the truck later on I found out the truck had been in an accident and I was the 3rd owner. Plus the truck wasn't even bought there new. As a precaution I would advise no one to leave their automobiles at this dealership. We left our truck on Friday morning for service and picked it up on Monday afternoon. When we picked up our truck the service engine light was on which was not on when we left it on Friday. We were not too concerned because we needed to have the oil changed and we just thought that's what is was. Well low and behold when we took our truck to our local garage to have the oil changed we questioned him about the service engine light. He comes back to say our e-vap vent valve/vent solenoid was cut out from under our truck. Dealership would not take responsibility for the damages. I said that information should be posted in the service area that you are leaving your automobile at risk since they are not locked in the garage and there is no video on the property to find out how and why this happened. So now our trip to the dealership has cost us even Pmore money to replace something that was on the truck and working when we left it in their hands. Lesson to all, find out what happens to your automobile when it is left overnight at this dealership. read more

To be honest I have never had a great experience at Carlen. I am a GM guy and always have been but feel like I get the run around there. That was confirmed last week when I took my vehicle in for a minor recall issue. I received a call telling me the recall was fixed but that there was also a surprise issue with my brakes on my 3 year old vehicle that was going to cost $3500 to replace all my lines, hoses, calipers, electronic controllers, etc because someone had put the wrong type of brake fluid in...... As you can imagine I was skeptical! Carlen tried to scare me into scheduling the service at the time by saying "we see there are car seats in the back and it was be a shame if something was to happen with everyone in the car". I took the vehicle to another dealership that is not even GM and was told there is absolutely nothing wrong with the brakes and it was fine. Typical old-school dealership tricks. I will NEVER be back and I will be sure to let everyone I know this is unfortunately how they like to operate. read more
