They're thorough, honest and reasonable. I recently took my car in and described 2 issues I was having. Allen told me to go to the parts store, told me what to get and how to take care of it myself. Then he smiled and said, "I'll give you the easy ones...if it doesn't work bring it back." That cost me less than $20. AWESOME! Just yesterday I started hearing a noise in the front end. My brakes were making a horrible noise. Niko's is BUSY, so the first available appointment wasn't until several days later. However, the representative asked me "Are you concerned it's unsafe to drive?" I said yes. She was able to squeeze me in sooner. When it came to the actual service, I was nervous about a ton of things being identified and being upsold on different repairs/maintenance tasks. Instead, Niko's identified only one other problem after diagnosing my check engine light. Niko called me and explained the situation in a non-condescending way. He made it clear what his recommendations were but that there was no pressure. My front brakes needed new pads and rotors (which I already suspected)--Niko could have easily said the rear brakes needed to be done, too. Instead he was honest and stated they were fine and had a good amount of time left on them. At every step they gave me to think through the purchase. They also worked with me and were flexible about drop off and pickup times. I left feeling that my car had gotten quality service from honest and helpful professionals.

When she returned home to Washington an axle seal was leaking transmission oil. The shop had told her they would warranty the work even though we live in Washington. When I contacted the shop they said if I could bring the car in they would replace the seal but would not cover work done in Washington. We are not going to drive 2,500 miles to and back from the shop to have a seal replaced. The man at the shop said it was of no benefit to him to pay for repair since we did not live in Vista and were not local customers. He also said we should just live with the leak and keep check on the oil level. We didn't get the golden wrench we got the golden screw.

Richard (owner) gave me a quote and helped me schedule the oil change. During that oil change, Cole (one of the mechanics) noticed that my shocks were leaking, which was causing uneven tire wear. I truly appreciated his keen eye and honesty in pointing it out. Because of his heads-up, I went to the Jeep dealership and was able to get the shocks replaced under warranty -- something I likely would have missed until it was too late and no longer covered. More recently, I returned to have my start/stop battery replaced to clear a caution light, and once again the experience was smooth and professional. My friend who referred me to Robert/S&S Advanced Auto Repair more than a year ago was confident…read morethat he'd be able to solve the mystery of why my car's interior lights and one or both "door open" warnings would flash on or stay on while I was driving, even though all the doors were fully closed and locked. The problem was intermittent but occurred frequently enough that it was truly irritating. In my first review, I explained why Robert turned me into a loyal customer even though he wasn't able to diagnose my car's problem. I recently brought my car back to Robert for a couple of other issues and told him the lights and warning notices were still flashing. I left the car with him overnight so he could fix the new issues, and he said he'd try again to figure out what was going on with the lights and warnings. Naturally, because the car was with the mechanic, it was on its best behavior. Until it wasn't. Robert or one of his guys was driving it when the lights flashed, and because they had their computer equipment in the car when it happened, they were able to quickly diagnose the problem as a faulty door latch assembly in one of the doors. My friend was right. Robert and his team--through their experience, skill, perseverance, patience and having the right tools--was able to correctly diagnose a crazy intermittent problem. I approved replacing the faulty part, and the problem has vanished! I don't know what a different mechanic would charge to fix the problem that Robert correctly diagnosed. But I do believe that had I known about S&S from the start, I would have saved $300 by not taking it to the other mechanic that charged me to try this and then try that. Robert and his team rock!

With a recommendation from a prior auto repair shop that we trusted we brought our adult daughter's 2011 Subaru which needed a lot of undone maintenance. He was fair, they did all the work on time and remain accountable for their work! They were cost effective in our view & very professional. My one concern was that " they prefer cash" instead of card. Now their reasoning is to avoid the .03% they pay on credit cards although I don't see a debit card charging .03%. Isn't that there cost of doing business with credit cards, although plus to allow more business to come their way? Strange to me.
