Sorry to leave a bad review. My husband's chicken enchilada dinner was barely okay. My carne asada tostada grande was awful. Didn't care for whatever powder they caked the meat with during cooking.. The veggies on top of the meat were all fine chopped and kind of ran together in an unappealing and not tasty way. And there was something off with the deep-fried flour tortilla shell. The tortilla chips on the table also tasted a bit off--thinking the oil was either going bad or just bad oil to begin with. We won't be going again. read more

The food here is ok. I eat a lot of Mexican food and there is really nothing here to rave about. They give you unlimited chips ands salsa. The margaritas are so so. They do offer a limited veg menu. The atmosphere is nice here though and it is clean. It would be awesome if they offered cheese dip. read more

Being the Bay Area food snob that I am, I didn't expect much from a Mexican restaurant in Cave Junction, Oregon. But I was pleasantly surprised. This was my second time there. We were visiting my in-laws in Selma and celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday. They love this place. And I can see why, it's a fun casual atmosphere, the food is really good and their regular waiter "Kiki" treats them like royalty. As soon as we were seated in the covered and heated patio, Kiki greeted us with familiar greetings and 3 baskets of chips and salsa. The salsa was terrific; fresh, tasty, and spicy! There were 6 of us at dinner and we had a variety of entrees: enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas, chili rellenos, and a house shrimp, mushroom, and rice dish, that my mother-in-law just raved about. The vegetarian burrito (the one with mushrooms and black beans) also got rave reviews (from a San Francisco mission district burrito connoisseur) - as did everything else on the table. I had a chicken taco and cheese enchilada- and it was full of great robust flavor. After dinner, I ordered the chimichanga cheese cake dessert and asked Kiki to bring it with a candle. To our surprise, he not only brought the dessert covered in whipped cream, but also a big purple sombrero and a camera. After we all sang "Happy Birthday" he asked my mother-in-law for permission to put a little dab of whipped cream on her nose, then he placed the sombrero on her head and snapped a picture, which they printed and attached to a nice little birthday greeting to take with her. Everyone loved it! Seeing her with whipped cream on her nose and a bright purple sombrero was priceless!!!! (Oh- and the cheesecake chimichanga was out of this world - absolutely sinful!) Definitely worth the stop if you're in southern Oregon and craving a nice relaxed atmosphere, great service, and really good Mexican food! read more

To start off the customer service is amazingly awesome. The salsa and the chips are Hella good taste really fresh. The asada burrito was tasty and I loved the chilie rieono ( spelled extra wrong lol) it was huge and tasty. read more

They serve chips and salsa with every order.the chips were warm and fresh. The salsa a little spicy but very yummy. They also have a separate vegetarian menu. I ordered the burrito vegetariano. Very surprised.. Passing through on our road trip and decided to try here. So happy we did. Cheese enchiladas are amazing!!!

My husband, 14 year old son, and I stopped for lunch on our way home from the coast and were pleasantly surprised! The food was unique and very tasty. Great decor and atmosphere. I had the carne asada plate, which came with a cheese enchilada and was a huge New York steak. I anticipated thin slices of steak, but was really happy with the great portion. My son had steak & garlic shrimp, the shrimp were huge! The only downside is the food took a long time to get to us. But, the service was friendly, and we came at noon on a Wednesday when they may have been short staffed. We will definitely be back and will recommend Carlos's to our friends. read more

A solid four stars! My carne asada dinner was excellent and included a chile relleno. Tortillas had to be ordered separately. One of my companions had a terrible fish dinner that came with french fries instead of beans, however my other companion enjoyed her veggie enchiladas mole. Stopped by for an early lunch. The place was nicely-decorated, the host pleasant, and service was satisfactory. I can't believe they make money selling the food for the prices we paid because we got at least two or three meals out of each dish. And the tastiness was exactly what I expected. Ive been to Carlos' twice so far. The first time, I went with some buddies. They had a blackberry margarita and nachos. After trying the margarita, I ordered one for myself. It was DELICIOUS..and Im not even a fan of margaritas. Next pay day, we came back to have dinner. I ordered the chimichanga, and I have no complaints. It was quite good, even had a little to take home with me. And not too pricey at all. We went home happy. Both instances I've came there...FANTASTIC customer service. Most of their food is good but not the breaded shrimp, a few of the servers are mean but the boy servers are nice and cool.

The code word is Seafood. Review of the menu gives customers a choice from great one item dishes with rice and beans to the seafood specialties of the house. The cantina includes a cozy bar with lottery games and great margaritas. We enjoy the happy hour bar menu. The service is first class, friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to serve us. This place would get five stars if it wasn't for the rude waitress. The food was delicious but our waitress was rude and kept giving us mean looks. We were expecting a lot more after reading reviews. It was really just mediocre Mexican food. The salsa that came with the chips was tasty and the cactus burrito was pretty tasty. 3 stars is generous here. The food is alright and the chips are unlimited. Service is usually ok. The magaritas are the best thing about this place, and they are fantastic but that's not enough to warrant 4 stars in my humble opinion. The food is meh as far as Mexican food goes.
