This is a Carl's Jr with a Green Burrito menu addition. They are open for 24 hours. They are in an easy location. I don't see many people frequent this place, but they do get customers, mostly drive-thru. The interior is very clean - basically spotless when I went. The service is alright. They follow the fine print of the coupons I always get in the mail. The fried chicken is kind of sad, but I enjoy the sides like fries and onion rings. I think they are known for their waffle fries. Their buttermilk ranch is good. I have taken menu photos (you're welcome) and I do not know who purchases at full price. They randomly have a lot of nice outdoor seating. Used the drive-thru and placed my order with the AI, my order was too complicated so a live person took my order. Un-familiar with the menu. I was asked if i want medium or large with my combo order and i said neither. I was confused to what that meant, later realizing it's for the drink. I asked small, she says only med or large. Wow! I felt this was very dishonest and they don't mention that it's an extra charge .. again total dishonest! Upon paying, I inquired about the medium -large and the employee responded irate and rude. This is one of those places that asks you what size you'd like when ordering a combo- medium or large? They give you only those two options NOT telling you that both have an up-charge. This dishonest practice has always been present at this location. If you don't want to pay extra, make sure to answer SMALL. I used the drive thru and noticed they now have an AI order taking program. I am not confident it will correctly capture substitutions/modifications so be sure to check when you get to the window. When I got to the window to pay, the worker read my order back to me which she said was a large combo. I told her I did not order a large. She then told me that she heard me order a large through the AI machine. Funny how the AI screen read back my order correctly as a medium combo, but the human couldn't understand me (I do not have an accent). She must have heard me order my "Barq's" Rootbeer, heard "large" and then up charged me to large combo. Good practice. "The Future of Protein" is here! Beyond burgers from the company Beyond Meat are made completely from plants and have made their way into fast food chains! May 3, 2019 was the first "Beyond Day," in which a number of restaurants offered free Beyond burgers, in celebration of the company's recent IPO. So we had to try it out--the Beyond Famous Star Burger came with the juicy fake meat patty along with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onion, and a dab of mayo and a tomato-based sauce. This sandwich definitely epitomized the fast food burger, with its slice of processed, congealed cheese and soft, seeded Wonderbread-like bun. While the Beyond burger patty was good, I can't say the same for the rather bland-tasting sandwich as a whole. In addition to the burger, I also found it an opportune time to try their chicken soft taco (especially since you'll only find me in a fast food restaurant once in a blue moon!). The taco came on a soft, processed flour tortilla and was filled with dark meat chicken chunks, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, and a touch of sour cream. Though it looked like a mess, it definitely had more flavor than the burger. Keep your expectations in check, but for a fast food restaurant, this Carl's Jr is surprisingly clean and comfortable inside! 10PM Sunday night I ordered a chicken sandwich. I was shocked especially at the price almost $10 dollars. There was a rather thin piece of meat that was not like fresh chicken is normally. It should be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It should be at the very least 1/2 inch thick not 1/4 of an inch. It tasted like re-heated left over food. I get fresh chicken from Freshly and it's the real deal not like this small excuse for chicken. AND there was no onion or tomato or lettuce! My God that that price it should come with standard toppings. It was slathered in mayo in spite of my saying "easy on the mayo" At least the clerk was respectful and tried to help But fast food used to be INEXPENSIVE. Usually we are not a family for fast foods... but surprisingly my parents actually liked the burgers at CJ and they feel the beef used at CJ is way better than McDonald's or Burger King. My first time at a Carl's Jr. in California in years. I think that once you identify the deals or best menu items (which could take a few tries), this becomes a solid late night option, particularly if you live very close by. I would recommend the $5/6 All Star Deal, $3.5 Charbroiled Double Deal, or Western Bacon Burger. I did not end up trying the hand breaded chicken sandwich, as it was $7, while the all star deal had a chicken sandwich, fries, a cookie, and a drink, for $5. I'm not too picky with my fast food, as I rather get a decent deal for a late night snack, than paying regular restaurant prices. 7.5/10 Fiery Chicken Sandwich While I think the hand breaded chicken would be crispier and better quality chicken, the spice on this sandwich made this a great late night snack for me. Would have likely lacked flavor or heat without them, and the cheese also makes it better than their regular spicy chicken sandwich. 8/10 Fries They were hot and fresh, which often isn't the case this late at night. I like that I could taste the potato inside, the outside could be a bit crispier though. 6.5/10 Chocolate Chip Cookie Warm but likely reheated. I am surprised this location has such a low rating, since usually I get great service here and am constantly positively surprised by the quality of the food. Among Carl's Jr.'s in the area it's my favorite (and I mean the Bay Area in general!). I usually come late at night, and their burger game is on-point: fresh and juicy, and well-proportioned ingredients. I usually get the lettuce wrapped Famous Star (juicier) or California Classic (cheaper), but I enjoyed the grass-fed organic option when they had it. Their Green Burrito options, while sadly not available for delivery, are well worth the trip. My partner and I are constantly surprised that fast food Mexican can taste so good! On my most recent trip the steak nachos were fresh and juicy, with just the right amount of toppings to provide consistent flavor without making the chips too soggy. It was so good (and affordable!) that i actually wanted to cry. Don't expect Michelin Star quality food here. It's not a sit-down restaurant, and this is not gourmet. But you can tell the cooks here usually do care about quality, and it shines through in the flavor of their work. read more
