Normally Carl's does a decent drive thru. A few nights ago, I ordered a taco off their Green Burrito menu. It had to be one of the saddest looking tacos assembled I've everseen in my life. The crazy thing is that it looked like it was thrown together as if it was rush hour, yet it was 8pm and I was the only one in the drive thru. Also, when you pay almost 2 bucks for a Coke, it should at least have decent carbonation. Too many times than I can count, their soda is flat. I can hear the background workers ripping on me as I ask each and every time if the soda is flat?? It's because it usually IS. Update: I received a response from Tammie, a Carl's Jr. franchise owner. She sent me two complimentary cards and a free taco offer. So that's kinda cool. Totally unexpected, but good customer service goes a long way.

Comes with cheese bacon and a sunny side up fried egg on top. If you want a different style cooked egg, eg hard cooked you have to ask. Also comes with lettuce, tomato, fresh and pickled onion plus you can ask for ketchup and mustard. Great size, delicious and the bun was like no other. They also have gluten free buns. I got smashed red potatoes as my side, also delicious. I opted for water, it's "strawberry" water so has the essence of strawberries. The large pitcher which they serve from has big ripe strawberries. What a refreshing treat instead of plain or lemon water. My mom and I had a very nice breakfast, again the customer service was excellent and the woman owner chatted with us, was quite friendly and personable. Again she was just a delight. I can't wait to go back and try some other menu items. Reasonable priced, please tip your waiter, their customer service and care is amazing.

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.

No trip to Gold Country is complete without a stop at Swingle Meat!…read more As mentioned in my previous review, groceries, especially meat prices are super high in the Bay Area, so whenever I have a chance to get some good deals on meat, I'm going to make every trip here worth it. On this trip I picked up some frozen ribeyes, sirloins, burgers, breakfast sausage patties, cheddar jalapeno sausages, and some chile verde and ranch house chicken. The chicken items I got come vacuum sealed, which is perfect when I plan to sous vide them. The things I wish I got more of was their honey pepper beef sticks and hot teriyaki beef jerky. It's very affordable and perfect for snacks. Another low key thing that we like are their frozen chicken wellingtons. super easy to bake at home and it's a tasty meal. I arrived in the morning and luckily it wasn't super busy. Grabbed a basket and before I knew it I had enough meats and snacks to feed a large family when in reality, it's just for a couple of us. $153 well spent and meals for days. The prices for the tri-tips have more than doubled since 2020, but honestly, still a great deal considering the size. $35-40 for a good sized marinated tri-tip is still a steal of a price. The mother lode tri tip is a can't miss and a fan favorite at any of our family bbqs. Definitely plan to bring a cooler and some ice packs so you can keep your meats stored properly in route to back home.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that... it just wasn't what I was looking for. We did buy some frozen steaks. I found the prices to be reasonable but not worth going out of the way for (it's about 40 miles away from where we live). Regarding the quality of the steaks, we didn't find them to be better than what we normally purchase.

A very boutique winery, they specialize in natural wines - it was the first time I came across a winery that only served natural wines in the area! Founded in 2016, the winery produces only 2,000 cases a year. The wines are produced using locally grown estate grapes as well as grapes from Clarksburg, Acampo and Lodi. Their estate wines are grown in Pioneer at an elevation of 3,300 feet with 13 (!!!) different varietals on only three acres. They tend to be Rhone varietals as well as Barbera which does well in the area. They use neutral oak for barreling. The tasting flight at $10 had six different wines to sample. My favorite was the 2023 Phantom Limb Zinfandel which uses carbonic fermentation. With an alcohol content of 13.8% the certified organic grapes were harvested from the D'Agostini Shenandoah Vineyard using whole bunch fermentation. With concentrated dark red fruit notes, it had flavors of fruit punch with medium tannins. The other wine that stood out was the 2023 Strange Currencies, featuring Nero D'Avola. I am a huge fan of Sicilian varietals and this one did not disappoint. Strange Currencies was slightly more acidic with red fruit aromas and flavors of dark cherries and lots of tannins. This could easily be cellared for a few years. Finally the 2023 Little Faith, Skin Contact White was an orange wine using chenin blanc, pinot gris, chardonnay and orange muscat. It was bottled with residual sugar with a Cap'n'Crunch aroma on the nose and reminiscent of orange soda and lemon rind. It was considered one of their "large production wines" at 450 cases. With such unique names, the actual tasting room lended itself to the eclectic and whimsical wine labels. Lots of wood abounds with colorful original paintings. They are actually quite well known for their burgers, for $14 you can get grass-fed 6.5 oz patties with a variety of toppings. Imma coming back to try the food next. The patio outside is welcoming overlooking a garden area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

I'm personally not a wine drinker, I dropped into their tasting room for the food. They were grilling burgers on the grill on the front patio. The smell of those burgers just hit me hard. I had to try one out. So glad I did, it's one of the best burgers I've eaten. Onto the food... ohhh that burger was outstanding. It's not any ordinary burger. Heck no. The 6.5 oz patty meat blend is a thing of lamb, bison, and Wagyu. I have never had that blend before. I can't stop thinking about it. Plus the chef caramelized the onions, spread a housemade mustard aioli, used quality white American cheese, and an artisan burger bun. Bam... delicious! $14. We also ordered a simple salad $5. Nice serving size. It was gorgeous looking and fresh tasting. The wine tasting room is modern, bright, and comfy. The staff is super welcoming. Wine tasting is $10. The End Of Nowhere wines was founded by Chris Walsh. His philosophy is sustainable farmed grapes, 100% native yeast fermentation, no filtration, minimal sulfur, neutral all aging.... gets you some delicious wine! In 2014, he came back to his childhood stomping grounds after many years working as a sommelier in New York City to plant a 10 acre vineyard in Pioneer, CA. Now the wine label uses those grapes and other local grown organic grapes. The shop also has a front and back patio area which the creek runs alongside. The back patio has a deck and lower plaza. The particular day I visited, there was no event or live performance so it was quite beautiful and serene back there. They do host a ton of events. Large shade trees and the creek running alongside (which right now is running at a low stream) sounding like well... a babbling creek. Check out their website endofnowhere.wine for their calendar of events. And they have a bunch of events lined up. Here a a few .... Art n burgers, wine tasting n chef sampling, oyster fest, and wine and local reknown chef dinners. Quality fine wine and dining taste with a small town welcoming vibe.

I had nothing to left in my pockets, except for some lint, an old paper clip, and my well used American Express card. Each one was perfectly cooked and they came with plenty of ranch for dipping. The chicken sandwich was just as crispy, juicy in the middle, and full of fresh produce. The whole thing was only $13.00, so I couldn't be happier. Well, my pockets were empty, but my belly was full. Pacific Grill, you made me feel like a winner.
