My husband and I stopped just before they closed and was happy to see they still had some pastries left. We bought four consisting of a bear claw, almond croissant, an apple danish and a cinnamon roll. I honestly can't tell you which was my favorite or the best. They were all so sooo good!!! I'm so glad we finally got to this place before they close for the day. We've previously walked past this place at least a couple of times very late in the afternoon and they've already closed. There was what looked like a father and son working behind the counter and both spoke French fluently and both were very friendly and helpful. So food quality and service were excellent and price points were equally excellent. These pastries are so much better and cost less than the larger chains. We love supporting our small businesses. We happen to have found this little bakery walking around Carlsbad. It's in an older strip mall off to the side. Does have a little patio area outside for you to enjoy your treats inside. For our trip, we tried the rainbow cake and a couple of the cupcakes. I got 1 cupcake & 1 slice of rainbow cake for $10.50ish. Should have got the receipt but I forgot. The rainbow cake is very dense due to the fondant. I absolutely loved the almond cake flavor of the cake!! I didn't really care for the fondant so I was able to just take that off with no problem. But I'm a huge almond flavor fan!! I got the blue velvet cupcake which is lemon and it was very light. The cake itself was moist and wasn't too sweet like other places. I enjoyed my cupcake. Now bear in mind, I just finished picking up my breakfast but after seeing this place and walking in, I not only had to have the almond croissant but I also got a pain au chocolat! I know oink . I was so happy to find this DELICIOUS bakery! Just blocks from my home... I was looking to support a local business when looking for my daughters birthday cake. I'm in the food/ restaurant industry myself so I can be pretty picky when it comes to service & execution of the final product. Everyone in this case was amazed with the final product. The staff was very accommodating, they told me I can send pictures of what I was wanting on my cake, which I did and although I didn't want to pay the extra $50 for the fondant decoration they still nailed it! Not only did the cake look BEAUTIFUL, but OMG it tasted sooo good! And held surprisingly well for being so large and at the beach! So I was on my way to the donut shop when I saw this little bakery in the corner. I decided to check it out. It's so cute and has a ton of danishes. I ordered a few croissants (almond and chocolate filling) and a Kringle. I've never heard or tried a Kringle before but my goodness was it delicious! It had toasted pecans on top and like a caramelized shell like a creme brûlée. The girl helping me was very sweet and helpful. I think it might be family owned. I also noticed that they do custom cakes which I will have to try next. I will be back and will provide some pictures! Did a custom cake order online. I thought they did a really good job. We went with a large carrot cake. The interior cake was moist and the cream cheese frosting layers were exquisite. Some of the bottom layers of that carrot cake were burnt a bit and developed hard bits that weren't appetizing. But overall, the cake was a big hit. But they were not sure.
