I've been on the search for my "go-to" Nail Salon for well over three months now! I needed a mani-pedi on the day that my son had an appointment nearby (on a Saturday no less) and looked to my Yelp app to see what was nearby. This place had pretty decent reviews, so thought I would give it a whirl! I stopped in on a Saturday, the place was busy and with no appointment, I had no wait - which was really nice. I'm always worried about places like that, they are either not very good or there's usually something up! Anyway, I was taken back and my plan was to just have a pedicure, given that my son's appointment was only going to take an hour. However, they had two people available, so they were able to do both a mani and a pedi. The ladies were pleasant enough, but the pedi tub situation was a little sketch. They use a plastic bag in the tub, which doesn't allow them to use the whirlpool action, thus alleviating them from actually doing a complete clean of the tub after each client! That didn't make me feel like they were really into quality, customer care, but more about them. The lady who did my manicure, did a good job, no complaints. Not a lot of talking, so I was able to relax while there. The pedicure was pretty standard, no wow factor either. So, all in all, if you want clean, straight forward service, then this place is okay. I posted pictures when I was there, it's somewhat old school and cluttered, but overall, okay in a pinch, but I'm still on the hunt for my go-to place! read more

While visiting a friend, I got a wild hair and decided I needed to get lashes put on. The result? Absolutely amazing, eye popping, sexy, long eyelashes. I called 15 minutes before closing time to inquire about lashes. Kim let me know they were going to be closing but would wait for me to get there and would be more than happy to do my lashes. Needless to say, I got there after being stuck in traffic and delayed and she was still smiling and gracious when I walked in. The lashes took about 1 hour to put on and the atmosphere was extremely relaxing and welcoming. After some chit chat, laughter and my many questions, the lashes were done. We took before and after pics. What a difference. My normal lashes are short and stumpy and now they are thick and beautiful. I don't wear a lot of make up regularly and like that this has now created a get up and go situation for me. This shaves off at least 10 minutes of time in the morning for me. Kim, you are super! I received the most half-assed manicure today. I'm sitting in my car contemplating going back inside and probably would if I didn't have a million things to do as I am flying out of town tomorrow. The girl barely cut my cuticles and there is a space between the polish and my nail bed. On some nails the polish is up on my skin, and others have bubbles of nail that she didn't file down. YES!! GO!! NOW! BEST nail & brow service - ever. As a regular visitor to Carlsbad, one of my favorite things to do is get a little spa time in with my daughter who lives there. We have gone to many places over the past 10 years or so yet nothing has compared to the quality of service received at Carlsbad Salon and Spa. And that includes all the the places I've gone to in NorCal as a native resident of SF area. They are so good at Carlsbad Salon I am making a trip down just for their services! They never rush, always spending time doing quality work as artists. I am amazed. They are kind, gentle, friendly, and one of the most important things to me, is the cleanliness of both the salon and the technicians. Seriously, I sometimes would rather a root canal than nail/wax done, but here.... I am so relaxed because everyone is so calm and caring, I know I am in good hands. While everyone seems great, Nancy and Tina have been the ones to work on me for nails. LOVE the great massages they offer as part of their service! And my nails last, mani's for at least a week when normally after a day or two I'll see chips. Pedi's last a month + or until I need to refresh with trim and polish. I do not use gels. I've had my brows tinted and waxed here as well and have always been really satisfied. Again, they do quality work with color matching and form. There have been some places I've gone to when I come out looking like a clown. But now I know better and I wait until I get to Carlsbad to have this process done. On my recent trip down for mani/pedi/wax they suggested I would be a good candidate for microblading.... yikes .... what? While I've heard the term I never knew what it was yet trusted them enough to make a return appointment for Kim to do her magic on my fading thin brows that use to be thicker and darker brown. Now in my 60's they have thinned out considerably and not equally and I know that one simple thing, fuller brows, can make a big difference in appearance. So Kim did microblading on me the day I was to leave for home, I was a bit nervous when they were first completed - they looked HUGE!! And dark!! OH NO, what did I do??!! And this is semi permanent to last a few years?? I started to 2nd guess my decision..... Yet within time they slowly calmed down in color and by day 10 they are perfect!! I have to say NO ONE said they looked bad when I first had them done - hubby, family, friends all said they looked great but it was me who thought they were too much. I wasn't use to them. Now I am not sure how I ever went without them, thank you Kim! If I trusted them with my FACE with a semi permanent huge statement with my eyebrows - you can be sure you can trust them for your treatments too. I have my fingernails done by Lisa, she's a pro and popular so I recommend calling ahead for appt. I get my toes done by Nancy and it's the greatest and most relaxing pedicure I've ever experienced. Unfortunately the lashes haven't lasted as long as I had hoped (about 2 weeks), but they are much lighter and way more comfortable than previous extensions I've had done. UPDATE: Lily fixed my nails and I'm happy. Thank you. I got my nails done here on the 9th of November. I walked in about 5 minutes before my appointment and the girl to do my nails wasn't even there. I waited another 5-10 minutes after sitting down before getting taken to the table to have a full set done. I was told to pick a color. I picked through the colors and the lady who was to my nails finally arrived. She sat down and started doing my nails. She cut my with the drill within a minute, fine whatever it happens:/. The lady doing my nails looked like she had just gotten finished working in her garden and forgot to wash her hands(in my mind I'm like she does nails so maybe they look dirty because of the nail polishes and what not). She started applying some base coat and then( what I realized once she started applying polish) that she was doing gel. I HATE gel because I've found that it never lasts. Mind you she never asked me whether I wanted acrylic or gel. She applied the gel and then shaped them and then CUT me AGAIN on the same finger. Within a week my nails are starting to rip on the sides. I have MOLD on two of my fingers that I can see through the nail polish. As I was driving home from the appointment I started thinking about the whole appointment and I realized that the tools used on my nails came out of a "soiled" labeled toothbrush holder! I just peeled back where I was seeing the mold to confirm that's what it was. I definitely wouldn't ever come back. One of my nails broke and I just so happened to be in the area so I asked if I could get a fill and my broken nail fixed. The first lady I got seemed in a rush and wasn't very friendly. I told her no gel, just standard fill. As she was getting started, I asked her how much they charged for a fill and she said it would be $27. Blown away by the ridiculous price, I asked why it was gonna be so expensive. She said fill is $20 (which is almost the same cost at most salons for a standard full tip, fills are usually $15-18 ) and then $7 for gel. I told her again I didn't want gel, so she told me it would be $20.   The one finger with a broken nail, the lady cut way shorter than the rest of my nails and asked if it was ok...um no?! It was clearly a lot shorter and shaped different than the rest. Then on top of it, she burnt me multiple times never apologizing when I said she was burning me, would just laugh it off.   Finally a different lady came over, much friendlier, but still wasn't very social. While she was working on my nails, I noticed the first lady lingering around standing over us watching her. She was in such a rush that she grabbed my other hand to try and help speed up the process but the other girl told her to stop. When she was finished, they were in such a hurry for me to leave that my nails didn't finish drying, so naturally when I reached in my wallet to pay, one nail got messed up, this irriated them even more having to fix this other nail, so of course they made a smart remark.   By the way, I'm half Vietnamese, so I do understand the language, and I could understand the ladies talking about my hands and the way they looked while fake smiling at me and talking about me messing up my nail. Finally at the end, I said something in Vietnamese, and both ladies were taken by surprise and said they didn't know I spoke the language. All of a sudden, their attitude changed towards me and they decided to be really nice, probably because I just heard them talking shit.   When I go to pay, the lady said it would be $22 because of my broken nail that they had to fix. Not once have I ever gone into a salon to get a fill, and they charge me for a broken nail.   Now, not even a week later, 3 of my nails are starting to come off. This place is a joke and customer service is terrible. Salons like this give Vietnamese people a bad name, which is such a shame. I go here EVERY 2 weeks for my gel fill. WONDERFUL high quality job. I love the natural look but still the look that I had them done. I get oustanding results everytime and ALWAYS request Kim! she is so nice, has light but not extensive conversation with you so you can still relax... and its affordable! believe me... getting my nails done every 2 weeks isnt something I would do normally with all the bills I have but 27.00! cant go wrong for a gel fill thats perfect. 1st visit; 5.0 star rating 3/26/2017 Just went there and had micro blading and eyelashes put on. I had Kim do the work, she is absolutely amazing, kind, caring, and just darn good at what she does. After the cancer the eyelashes and the eyebrows did not come back in as full as they were so thank you Kim for getting me back some of my confidence. We can't put a price on that. 2nd visit; I had one little lash that had a ind of his own, I called Kim and without hesitation she said come on in. Upon arriving I was met with a big smile and an enthusiastic hello. She was as exited to see how well the brows were healing, and already knew what she wanted to do for my touch up. That's not even why I was thee. She fixed my lash and added a few more. And again for the first time in years I walked outside with a spring in my step. I had been going unhappily to the same person in the Village for a year and a half! I finally was fed up with the eyelashes falling out continuously from day one ! I often had to have a whole new set after 2 weeks which was so expensive! I have now gone to Kim twice, once for ful set and 3 weeks later for a fill !! Well to be fair, I never got my nails done here so I can't comment on the quality of their work. What I can say is that my mother and I walked in wanting deluxe packages, noticing that they had two available spa chairs. We were told to pick our colors and wait a few minutes while the girl from the front desk prepped the chairs. After waiting about 10 minutes, two women walked in, requested pedicures, and were immediately seated. The new girl that came to sit at the front desk saw our disbelief and then asked us what services we were interested in. I repeated our request and was informed once again that it would only be "a few minutes". 15 minutes later I was done waiting and we left...off to explore the neighboring nail salons whose yelp reviews weren't as high. 1 star for their attempt at customer service. read more

I came here a second time thinking maybe this time my experience will be better than the first time I had been here. Both times I was only getting fills. So not much work needed. The first time I went here was to get a fill and color. The lady completely messed up my shape and the paint job was very poor. I left and just wound up driving to the place I usually go to (what I was trying to avoid). This time I have white Tips. So all I needed was a fill. Let's just say this lady completely butchered my nails. I went from long nails to now nothing. Te fake nail and my real nail now align. Which means I will have to take these nails off once I need a fill. My nails were all different shapes and sizes until i told her to fix. She also did not fill with powder she filled with some kind of gel that i have never seen before. She said this was a more natural look. I will NEVER ever come back to this place.
