As this is the CarMax closest to my house, I've been to this store the most (Beaverton) but it's not my favorite, even though they all look pretty much the same. For starters the entrance is through a parking garage, so it's not very inviting at first. If you're test driving a car here, there aren't a lot of opportunities to really step on the gas either, most of the time; the local streets all have traffic lights and the 217 freeway is under construction. Otherwise the interior of the store is fine, well- lit with lots of helpful employees waiting to pounce on you the minute you walk in, but in a nice way. What I do really appreciate about the CarMax business model is the variety of cars available, and the fact that you can test drive almost any one of them (provided you make a reservation); I've done 3 cars in a day more than once. Also worth noting, CarMax sets prices higher than most, but their cars are always in good shape. read more

We realize we could get more selling but did not want to deal with strangers. Got a very low bid from Carvana that expired. When we renewed, the bid was 40% lower so tried CarMax and it was much higher than Carvana's original. Did express process on line. Expected to be low-balled but we arrived for appt and had a check for original offer and a free Lyft ride home within 20 minutes. Extremely efficient and pleasant process! read more

In the past, I've had good experiences with CarMax and this location. My last experience was terrible and I will not be going back. I bought a Toyota tundra truck. It was the TRD "off-road" model . Nowhere in the listing did it say that it was a 2 Wheel drive and not a 4x4. Two days after getting the vehicle home, I realized it was packaged as an off-road truck, but didn't even have four-wheel-drive, which is required here in Oregon. I returned the vehicle. They accepted it right away as they claimed they would, but did not give me my money back that day. It is now been almost a month and I am still waiting for my $56,000 refund. This experience has been terrible. I noticed that they relisted the truck the next day and failed again to disclose to the next buyer that it wasn't actually a four-wheel-drive. I feel like this place is dishonest and I hope I get my money back ASAP. read more

I sold my car here and they gave me a fair appraisal very responsive and really quick. I made an appointment via phone they set it and the minute I arrived I was assured right away. They have freshly brewed coffee too. The guy who help us was Kim such a nice fellow with good humor and very thoughtful too. On the other hand the lady in the cashier (acctg. dept.) who was preparing the payment was also super nice unfortunately I didn't got her name but she had this short cut hair that suits slim built features she such a great lady and knows how to deal with the seller like us. All was very organized and well explained . That's why I felt we are in good hands. No hassle no stress very legit. Next time I will buy it sell my future car here. read more

Even told Matthew about my experience with Carmack only offering me 17 on a brand-new vehicle that had under 3000 miles. He said it was Covid . my appointment was at 12:30 Wednesday March 6 . I brought the payoff information with me as instructed. I owe 15,500 k . . Car Max inspected the vehicle and came back about 20 minutes later and told me that they would give me 15 for the vehicle because ding in the door, I said to person helping me that Matthew quoted me 19k . They said Matthew C.with car is a third-party.. never do business with Car Max's the second time . And MATTHEW C. with CAR WISER Grow some BALL's and return my calls . You're such a weasel, you knew what my car meant to me .you called me with a quote of 19,000 k and I waited a weekend before I accepted your quote. NEVER buy a car from Beaverton Carmax! I've bought two cars, recommended my daughter and a friend buy Carmax cars...no problem until I bought from Beaverton Carmax. They have literally screwed up every single aspect of the experience! They were supposed to rotate and align tired prior to pick up. Nope. Then I was told me to call specific person when taking car closer to home for that service. Person out that day and no one else knew anything about it. Then they screwed up the documents for registration and I had to go back to dealership for correct document. They also were supposed to pay tax and title but upon registering they were over $300 short which I had to pay and when called they said I was SOL. Then in less than a year I had to make $2000 repair. Lastly, now they are threatening me with breach of contract because THEY screwed up again with title!!! unbelievable!!! in April of 2023 I had purchased a 2019 ford edge after my last car was totaled . the vehicle history report was clear and good so you would think that it was perfect and ready to go especially for 23,000$ . nope shortly after I noticed all these things with it . went to them , gas pedal and the break was needed to be replaced along with car needed to be reprogrammed. as of right now they've discovered the car also needs a new transmission , therefore theyve had my car in the shop for a little over a month now . this should've never happened especially to me an 18 year old adult who spent 17 grand ( all of my savings ) . I've been calling and calling them demanding for a complete refund of my down payment + payments I've already made. I've been put on hold for long periods of time , switched around and dismissed . Well, we found a car $800 shipping... expected... what's not is we had to wait an extra 2 weeks after they said for the car to make it.. not a phone call, email... anything from anyone. We call and get sent to an animated thing that didn't answer any questions about where it was.. we never got the call when it arrived, and we had to call repeatedly to go pick it up... now... we have the car it's taken over a month for them to take the deposit it, we've called and said we still have the money and the only answer we got on the phone was "maybe you should do a smaller deposit." ..... we asked if we could send $5000 because the full amount wasn't going through and they were making it seem like our fault it kept getting declined even though we called the bank and let them know it's us and we are approving the transaction. So after multiple declined ways of taking the deposit they threaten us with a repo. Now that we've had ER room visits and vet emergency visits over the last 3 months of trying to get this to them, it finally tries to go through when we had no choice but to pay the medical bills.. they've given us no leeway or break and acting like everything happening has been on our end when they weren't clear about anything and dodge questions with animated machines or just telling you they don't have an answer and can't help you.. if you go with them good luck.. your gonna need more than that to get through it. read more

I purchased a used vehicle fall of 2021 from CarMax. I could not afford a brand new vehicle, which was the push during pandemic climate. I purchased additional car insurance in case of engine problems of my newly purchased 2013 vehicle in which CarMax charged 4,000 dollars over Kelley blue book value. The vehicle had to be serviced within a month for unusual sound. I was told nothing was wrong with vehicle. A month later the vehicle required extensive work in which purchased car insurance paid for some of cost. Two weeks ago, the oil cap popped while I was driving spraying oil into fan. My turbine line needed replacement and now my engine needs to be replaced. You guessed it, CarMax doesn't want to honor replacement of engine parts after selling a lemon vehicle. I would not recommend or trust CarMax. I'm using public transportation now and wished I never had any business with CarMax. Hope you do not make same mistake I did by purchasing at CarMax. read more
