It's as good as a car buying experience could be! Chris was our original salesperson. He was kind, understanding and helpful. He wasn't pushy and got me the car I wanted for a great deal. Giselle was who we really worked with once the car was delivered. She's also super kind and understanding. In general everyone was great! My only issue is that it still took about 3 hours to get the car once it was on the lot. With the fact that we had placed a deposit, all our documents were previously collected, and was there really to just pick up the car; it seems like there could be better expectation setting and timelines explained to why we sat at the dealership. NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR SERVICE! On 12/4/25 I had RM change the oil in my 2018 Forester. I went there bec they had a half price coupon. Yesterday, 7/8/26, we hit 5K miles, so time for another oil change. Went to my personal independent mechanic of over 20 years. Should have never gone to Royal Moore in December. The drain plug was cross threaded! It took my mechanic forever to get it out! As a result I now have to buy a new oil pan plus have 2hrs of labor to remove old pan and put in new one. My $79.99 oil change special at Royal Moore is now costing me $600 to fix. I will NEVER go to RM again, even if something is free. They literally SCREWED ME. How can an authorized Subaru repair facility do something SO stupid? I know they won't believe me and will day i had an oil change somewhere else in between 12/25 and 7/26, but not true. It's a car dealership, so really what is there to say? These places are usually soulless bloodsucking operations, but RM is a little less so. Most of the time, anyway. I bought my Subie here a couple of years ago and that experience was fairly painless, so a star for that. I've had most of my service done here in the ensuing years and yea - no doubt they are pricy - but the work is good and the service is excellent. In fact it has gotten better over the years, as they overhauled the entire dealership, service center and waiting area and hired more people. The customer waiting area used to be absolute crap but now it's pretty decent: good WiFi, comfy chairs, TVs, coffee, snacks, the whole bit. It's a long drive for me but they have earned my business for the most part. Just wish the prices were better. read more

Utterly awful including fake-nice, put-upon airs-- you don't know me/I'm a customer, but the acting like they're your bestie is very creepy, indeed. Despite my acknowledgement that I indicated upon the inital appointment setting (I was not a walk-in), the technician not only didn't recall my appointment time, but then proceeded to quote me for items that I both not ask for, nor need (over an excess of $1k over original expectations)--- and this was still in the first few minutes of arrival, BEFORE my car was even LOOKED AT! I was made to feel as if I should be guilty because they said they didn't have my VIN, even though this is retrievable in the Subaru database.... It's 2026- all of this stuff can be found in the digital atmosphere. The final insult came when I was asked to recite my appointment selection --as to what THEIR service package offering is (90k mileage maintenance service), they apparently had no record of my selection, nor could they recall their own service offering-- I'm supposed to do their job?? This was also after I caught them in another misleading, predatory upselling practice where I was told "everything here is ala carte"- - there seems to be a disconnect between the service station and their online appointment offerings. I saw through the BS and immediately pulled my car from their service (they didn't even try to argue with me or quote me for a lower service $); I couldn't get out of there fast enough and glad I did so. read more

Disappointed when I had been in communication with RM for a month on exactly what car I wanted to purchase and we had July 17th scheduled for my purchase and pick up date. I received several text reminders (a couple the same morning) leading up to our appointment on July 17th but none of them tell me that my car is not available. I drive over an hour to the dealership and the car has "just sold" before we had the chance to purchase it, per Clint. I would have happily put money down to hold it, if needed, but the option wasn't given and I was never told there was an issue. This was a tactic to lure us in to their dealership. Thankfully, another car was found and Giselle has offered to drive the car to my home to save me a second trip to the dealership. I got less for my trade-in than I would have liked (apparently my car depreciated $300 while sitting at the dealership) but I was so tired, I just wanted to be done. We were there for over 6 hours! My husband and I have purchased our last 3 vehicles from Royal Moore Subaru and this would be the 4th. My parents have purchased multiple vehicles through them as well. RM lied to get us to their dealership and was able to low ball us on our trade-in. They made a great deal for themselves but at what point do these unethical actions pay off when your once loyal customer will not go back? read more

My husband and I decided to look at purchasing a WRX. I had an oil change at Toyota across the street for my Lexus hybrid and had looked at Royal Moore Subaru online and saw a new WRX on the lot and inquired. I set up an appointment for when I was done across the street and went and met the best salesman I have ever had. Not only was he like able, he was not pushy ever, completely relatable in lots of ways and a true car enthusiast himself. Lots to improve upon here at Royal Moore Subaru, in Hillsboro. We were scheduled to look at a car with Nate @ 2:30. We arrived @ 2:30, to find that Nate had passed us off to 'Dylan' after we'd driven an hour! Nate said he'd have the car right up front for us, when we spoke to him @ 12:30. When we arrived, the car wasn't on the lot, but at another location - apparently another couple was looking at it. Dylan did his best to find out where the car was and had to leave the property to find it! We waited until 2:55 for him to find it and return for a test drive. Test drive ended, and I asked Dylan what "the best price for the car was out the door?" He was all hung up from the start, trying to decide if we were going to trade in our Subaru and give that information to his sales manager. I told him, we weren't sure if we'd trade it in and "It wouldn't matter what the trade in price would be on our vehicle was as it related to the vehicle they were selling, as it would be 2 separate transactions." After a wait, Dylan came back with his sales manager with his best price. The "best price" was the price they listed it for on the internet. In addition to this, in the price, they tried selling us glass etching and a 5 year battery replacement program, both options we had declined 5 minutes before that, when Dylan offered them to us. Unbelievable! So I say buyer beware, here at Royal Moore Subaru. Keep your guard up as they are disrespectful of your time, as well as trying to slide by little $400 charges. Giving them a 2 star is being generous. Pretty unprofessional all around! There should be a training program for your new sales people! read more

I bought an brand new Outback April 16 2023. My warranty expired a week ago, along with the 'subaru subscription'. Yesterday my car wouldn't start. The battery is dead. It seems to be phantom drawing power. I called Royal Moore, only to be told my warranty expired last week, and that their batteries only last about three years, but they could check my battery. Car dealerships have always had poor track records, but I have heard it has gotten much worse. I saw this firsthand at Royal Moore Subaru. We saw a vehicle online that we wanted. We set up an appointment to hold the car so we could test drive and look it over. We sit down with the 1st salesman, who was decent and seemed like he wanted to work with us. He then went and got the "closer". We sat there and worked on the price and interest rate for some time. We reached an agreement, or so I thought. I told the gentlemen that we would buy the car, they had a deal, and tried to figure out when we could go in and sign for the vehicle. I get a message an hour later that they sold the car but had something else similar and couldn't that deal. Super irritated, we decided to go to CARR Subaru in Beaverton to test the water. That will be a separate review. To wrap it up, we had our time wasted and it seemed like we were just toyed with to get us into the lot. No one ever mentioned they would be selling the car right out from under us after we had already agreed. What we believe happened was they did not want to do that price or interest rate anymore, and we got hosed. Just not respectful toward people's time or making an agreement. We went to buy a vehicle today with private financing in hand. At the end, having agreed on everything, the dealership insisted in running a second credit check which was unnecessary and not required. They said it was 'to confirm who we were'. This would have hit our credit record a second time taking away points that would take months to years to rebuild, they would not move forward without it. Funding had even already been triggered including the email from our own bank which they had received. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP. They are following and I quote 'their company policy' and not the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Our bank confirmed when canceling the funding that the dealership is in the wrong. read more

I saw theirs advertised sale prices on Cars.com the car I like, I reached out to salesman Kyle, he agreed with me on that price and asked me when do I want to make an appointment to look at the car. When I showed up he said that car is ready in an hour do I want to see a different car for the same price, he will pull that car up for me. I waited another half an hour no car at all, so he offered me to a different end up he said none of the 3 cars in the lot. They just like to play games, they did not honest to what they said it, wasting too much of my time with Royal Moore Subaru for nothing. I will never go back there. Where do I start. I was working with Ahmad on a used car deal. Prior to even arriving to the dealership I forwarded my trade information with pictures. I was pleased with the trade value. I explained to him I would be in the area for a few hours and get me numbers on the purchase. I was brinigng outside financing and need numbers before 3pm so i could call the credit union to get my loan finalized so i could buy the vehicle this was communicated to Ahmad via text. This conversation via texting started around 9am Saturday. They assigned me an appointment i did not agree to or accepted. I explained if i like the numbers on a purchase order i would let him know i would come in. By 4pm I had heard nothing. I asked what was the deal with no information. I caved in and did the credit application so they could get me a deal. By 630pm still nothing. Was given excuses they are busy and working hard to get numbers. I got a video message from this Ahmad saying they couldn't get to me but it will be done 1st thing in the morning. So Sunday comes and it's 12 pm and I still have heard nothing. I reached out again and now was told the vehicle was sold on Saturday. This was so inferiorating to run my credit working a deal and it to be sold horrible salesman. I got more excuses about my appointment they made not me and was my opportunity to see the car and it's memorial weekend and busy. Excuses after excuses. He asked what other vehicles would i be interested in. I texted him another one at 335pm it is now 7pm and zero communication. This is why no one wants to deal with going into buy cars nor should you have to. read more

In March 2024 I bought a new Impreza from Royal Moore (RM) Subaru in Hillsboro. I was met by a salesman. He wasn't very friendly, but I didn't care because RM had the color I wanted. My basic problem is that the total amount I will pay after financing ballooned to $40k from an initial expected price of $28k. $28k was the total I expected to pay after financing $26k. $26k was the amount stated on my Payment Detail that I was given almost right off the bat. The problems started when the salesman handed me a piece of paper with chicken scratch and arrows written all over it. The chicken scratch was talking about "If this then that, but...if THIS then THAT" and on & on. I should've walked away. When I got the Payment Detail I thought negotiations were over. I made it clear that I was comfortable with a $586 monthly payment for 48 months. The real problems started when the Finance Guy came to me in the Waiting Area and said something to the effect of "We can extend this out to 60 months." I thought that was weird, but I also thought that meant extended out to 60 months with no other changes. If there were going to be changes then they should've been communicated. Then I found myself sitting at the salesman's desk with the Finance guy while the salesman stood 10' feet away watching. The Finance Guy was doing a lot of talking, but I didn't understand that he was selling additional services. I didn't understand he was selling because he's a Finance guy who should've been finalizing the initial agreement. Why is the Finance Guy selling services while the Salesman looks on? Another problem for customers today is all the signatures & initials on touch screens. I probably signed & initialed 15 screens before I finally saw the final price of $40k. By that time I thought I had already committed to this price. I felt tricked at that point, and I was. I was extremely mad and everyone knew it. I told them I accepted responsibility for entering into this contract. I should've understood the process better. I was extremely unprepared, stupid, and naive. But...if I'm selling a car to a neighbor, even if the neighbor is dumb, there's never confusion on the final price. The reason is because I'm communicating honestly. Also the salesman is gaming his reviews on DealerRater by having people review him before the transaction is complete. If I remember correctly he asked for a 5 star review to play a game called Corn Hole. In this game if you throw a bean bag into a hole 25' away then you get Subaru Starlink free for 3 years. While I was outside preparing to leave the salesman came out. He essentially asked me not to review him because he knew I was angry. Finally...when I got to the first gas station on my drive home I notice a 3" scratch on the paint and shoe scuff marks on the speaker of the Driver's door. Everybody knows how the first scratch feels, but to buy a new $40K/$26K car with a scratch just added insult to injury. read more

All the Service Managers are usually very good, but Steven Lyle sits at the top. At my service appointment, I was greeted immediately, he understood what my service concern was, he kept me updated, got me a wonderful loaner car (my wife wanted to try a Forester out, even though we were having our Crosstrek serviced), Steven and his tech identified other items that we should have fixed that we didn't know about, and everything was completed on time and worked great. Steven and his manager even helped me save money when my wife picked up the car and forgot to turn in a service coupon. They went way above and beyond what most people would have done. This is the stereotypical perspectiion of the car purchasing journey but Jovanni at Royal Moore Subaru made it the complete opposite! With the global pandemic and inventory at an all time low at all dealerships, it is definitely not a buyer's market. But what was more important was that the experience was extremely short, virtual and even enjoyable. I had conducted everything via email and snail mail for the necessary paperwork. Living in southeast Portland, I spent more time driving to the dealership than the 10 minutes signing the remaining paperwork. Having previously been an online sales representative, I have experienced car deals from both sides countless times and without a doubt, this was by far one of the easiest and better deals I have experienced.
